Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups whole-wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons quick cook oats

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In the bowl of food processor, add applesauce, egg, and pumpkin. Pulse to combine.
  • Add flour, cornmeal, cinnamon and oats to pumpkin mixture and process until dough comes together.
  • Turn dough onto floured surface and knead and roll out to ¼ inch thick and cut into shapes. (Add additional flour if needed if dough is too sticky).
  • Reroll scraps and repeat.
  • Place treats on parchment or greased cookie sheet and bake *12 minutes - 15 minutes and remove when treats are firm and edges are starting to brown. Cool on a wire rack and store treats in airtight container. Extra treats can be frozen.
  • *If using larger size cutters, increase baking time.

Notes

Dog treats can be frozen up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in refrigerator.
