Halloween Oreo Surprise-Inside Cupcakes
Use your favorite cupcake recipe or cake mix to whip up a batch of Oreo Surprise Inside Cupcakes. . . an easy Halloween treat with a sweet surprise inside.

- Devil’s Food Cake Mix or flavor cake mix of choice, 15.25 box
- Buttermilk equal to amount of water on box
- 4 large eggs room temperature
- Neutral flavored oil quantity called for on back of box, such as vegetable, corn, canola or sunflower
- 24 Halloween Oreos
- Frosting and sprinkles of choice
Mix eggs, oil and buttermilk with cake mix. Follow the directions on the back of cake mix box for mixing.
Place cupcake wrappers in pans. Fill each of the lined cupcake wells 1/3 of the way full with the batter. Place one Oreo on top of your batter in the middle of each well, and top with more batter until 2/3 of the way full.
Bake according to directions on the back of the box and according to your oven until cupcakes test done and a toothpick inserted into the center of the cupcake comes out clean, about 15 minutes.
Allow cupcakes to cool in pan 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to finish cooling completely.
When cupcakes are cool, add your favorite frosting and sprinkles. Use an open star tip fitted to a piping bag to pipe frosting if desired.
- Buttermilk substitution: To make 1 cup of buttermilk, add 1 tablespoon lemon juice or white vinegar to a liquid measuring cup. Top with whole milk to the 1 cup line. Let the mixture stand at room temperature for 5 - 10 minutes until slightly thickened and you see small curdled bits.
