Servings: 20 servings
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
- 6 tablespoons salted butter
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3 cups Cinnamon Chex™ cereal
- 3 cups Honey Nut Chex™ cereal
- 1 cup small pretzels
- 1 cup salted cashews or nuts of choice
- 1 cup Pumpkin Pie M&M’s or plain M&M’s
- 1 cup Candy Corn or Harvest Corn
In small microwave-safe bowl, microwave butter on High about 30 seconds or until melted.
Stir in brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla.
In large microwavable bowl, mix cereal and pretzels. Pour butter mixture over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly distributed.
Microwave uncovered on high in 1 minute increments, for 5 minutes, or until mixture begins to brown, stirring after each minute.
Spread on wax paper or a cookie sheet to cool.
When mixture has cooled, mix in nuts and candy. Store in airtight container.
- Microwave wattage varies. After 3 minutes, reduce microwaving to 30 second increments, stirring so butter /sugar mixture doesn’t scorch.
- Adjust the quantities of add-ins. . .nuts, candy and pretzels to your taste. I used salted butter to help balance the sweet of the cereal and candy, but use unsalted if you prefer.
- Instead of microwave, alternatively bake in oven at 250 degrees, stirring every 15 minutes, until lightly browned and crisp, 45 minutes.
- Once completely cooled, store in an airtight container at room temperature. Will keep for several weeks if it lasts that long.
