A Spooky Incarnation~ Haunted Lanterns

I’m scaring up a Spooky Incarnation

for my lanterns for Halloween~

courtesy of scrapbook paper

from K&Company

from Michaels~

I saw this lantern at HomeGoods recently~

its creepy image kept haunting me,

but I couldn’t justify buying a lantern

for the ghosts & goblins who would come calling~

Scrapbook paper pads at Michaels were 40% off~

I found a pad of Brenda Walton Haunted Papers

that were double-sided~

two images on each page, twice the scare :)

My lanterns have

celebrated the seasons. . .

holding pumpkins and leaves. . .

apples and pine cones. . .

and a wintery white mix~

But they’ve never

dressed up for Halloween~

I slipped a piece of glass out of the tab holders

in my lantern to use as a template.

You could make a cardboard template if your

glass won’t slip out or are afraid of breaking it.

I slid the cut pages down into the tabs of the lantern

against the glass~ adding a little bit of

double-sided tape to keep the pages flat against the glass.

I added a double-sided page on two opposite

sides of each lantern~ providing light & a

spooky ambiance using LED candles.

You could use a vellum or acetate paper for a

more ghostly illumination.

Add a raven and

some ribbon. . .

Maybe a spider

or two. . .

Happy

Haunting!

I love the black & white check cloth and the orange polka dot paper, keeps it from being too scary! Great combination of materials and imagination, and very INSPIRING as always! I have lantern envy!

What a great idea, and those papers are fantastic. I particularly like the skull and bat as they would match the spooky plates that I bought from Pottery Barn last year. I just pulled my lantern out of storage and was contemplating what to do with it. Clever!
