Happy Sunday! Here’s a little weekend waterview from Lake Norman. . .
Steam fog is a common sight this time of year when the cooler air collides with the warmer water.
It lends a mysterious and almost spooky quality. . .
Especially when the sunlight highlights the spiderwebs that are otherwise invisible . . .
Timely with Halloween on Thursday.
🎃🕸️🕷️🦇🧹
The lake level is down four feet with our abnormally hot and dry September and October.
According to the drought monitor, we’re one of the ten counties in the ‘severe drought’ category.
We had some beautiful weather earlier in the week with days in the 70s and nights dipping down to the 40s and 50s.
It’s been a gray weekend with some much needed showers in the forecast today but we enjoyed a little chair time on Saturday. . .
Sophie is 5 months old and is going to be bigger than Lola.
She still has her puppy coat which is silky and soft and flyaway. . .
The girls went to daycare one day this past week. When my hubby went to pick them up, they asked him if he was there to pick up ‘Princess Lola’ or ‘Regular Lola’ ?. . .
He said, ” ‘Regular Lola’ although she thinks she’s a princess. ” ;) 🐾
This made me want to move to the lake! Thank you for sharing.
The girls are so precious. Looking forward to their “trick or treat” photos for Halloween! Love the serenity of the lake views~
Cool spider web pic Mary! Give The Girls a hug for me:@)
Ooohhh, you are “dry.” Our lake is down 2 ft. Currently, rain showers and a blizzard of leaves. Your description of fog…it IS ethereal…I see Confederate soldiers in the abstract, marching, marching..just rows & rows…franki
Beautiful views and puppies.
Awww, so sweet, definitely Princess Lola! We have been drowning in rain for 2 days, I hope it’s heading your way! Love the spooky steam fog and glistening spider webs…perfect for Halloween week!
Jenna
In my next life I want to come back as your dogs!
What a view! How relaxing it must be to snuggle in, the girls on your lap with a nice warm quilt, watching the fog lift and the sunshine dispel the erriness. The girls are precious! Happy birthday Miss Lola! Already 1! Wow! We are having a gorgeous fall, the trees are bursting with color, just stunning! Hope you get your rain and beautiful fall colors as well. Hugs to both sweet babies. ♥️🐾♥️🐾🍂🍊
I love these pictures of your girls and the lake! So beautiful! Thank you!!
Love all your picture of the Lake and when you tell a story its so serene. I safe them and look thru them thru the year. Thank you.
All of your pic this morning made me smile. Such a beautiful place even with the water low. I too have Bichons so of course I am enjoying each and every pic you share. Thank you for making so many of us happy
Beautiful as always!
We have snow here this morning. I much prefer your weather. Your pictures are beautiful.
I love starting my Sunday morning with a visit to your lake and pups. We are getting a little break from our hot temperatures. I hope the winds stay calm, too, so our fire danger is reduced. Best wishes to you and your family.
Thank you Chloe, wishing you calm winds and stay safe. ♥
Can’t see your pics, we are in a blackout and cell phone to slow to load any pics, but it sounds calm, serene and soothing… I thought your lake was bursting this spring, surprised to read drought. Ca is in midst of hell, fires ravaging the area and 90 mph winds with no power for millions… Yep sitting watching your steam lake sounds better than the freight train roaring all around us with toppled urns and broken branches…
I’m oh so sorry…I’ve been thinking about you every time I see CA on the news. Those fires are terrifying. I can’t even imagine that kind of wind outside of a hurricane. I hope your home, hubby and furbabies stay safe. ♥
Thank you, all 3 properties have no power, the beach is very close to evacuation area, I keep checking to see it’s status, the winds are so strong and relentless they fear it will burn straight to the coast, there is no where to feel safe in all of n ca right now, they said another windstorm on heels of this, which means power may not be restored until end of week. No one has ever experienced this before, displaced, largest evacuation in sonomas history, black outs, fires, smoke, I am glad power is off, the wind has broken many trees just on our property, there would be untold new fires with mother natures wrath. I just keep praying nothing new flares up, with winds like this they can’t fight them they just have to get out of harms way, hard to relax, I just spin in a circle looking for smoke 😟
Both Sophie and Lola are just so precious! They both deserve to be princesses!
~Mary~
Beautiful pictures of the lakes, and the girls are adorable !!

From the looks on Lola’s and Sophie’s faces they enjoyed their time outside with the nice weather and I very much enjoyed your photos, thank you for sharing.
Beautiful photography and your girls are the sweetest little pups ever!
TWO PRECIOUS PRINCESSES!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful captures of the cutest pups ever! And love seeing that it’s cooling down for you.
Mary, I am late with the 1st birthday wishes for Lola. All the photos are beautiful and sweet of the ones of Lola and Sophie. In Virginia we have had drought as well. November has been bringing wonderful wet weather. Today the area is getting it’s first snowflakes. Tomorrow isn’t supposed to get out of the 30’s–brrr!! May your day be wonderful!!
