Cannot wait to get outside and plant, plant, plant!!! I don’t think I’m going back inside the house, only to sleep, the entire summer…my favorite flower shown here is the peonies!! I have lots and love their smell..my favorite arrangement is the “build a floral Easter basket”. In reality, all florals here are just outstanding!! Early Easter this year may mean a cold one in our neck of the woods..hurry SPRING please!! Thanks for sharing and keep the inspirations coming..💐🌺🌷🌼🌻🌸🌾🌳

Thank you Mary for brightening this cold gray morning! My favorites from 2015 were your bloomin’ Easter basket and the daisy M! And oh those magnificent Chinese snowballs and the flower petals in the ice cubes and the pumpkin planter-they are all so stunning and fresh, I need some blooms to play with! Congrats on the big Panthers win, wow what a game!! I’m sure your mind is spinning with Super Bowl 50 ideas this morning :)

My orchid and violet are in full bloom! Puts a smile on my face every morning. I moved them inside as we are experiencing very cold weather here in Tampa. There is nothing like blooms to make one feel good in the winter months. Enjoyed your pictures of your blooms! Have a great week!💐😎🌴

Thank you for the flower therapy! I am making a list of arrangements to try this spring, I love the ones you posted. We have 29″ of snow which broke a record here. I wish I had a Gingerbread House kit to make a feeder for the birds. I may try graham crackers and make a “cottage” for them.

Wow Mary, what gorgeous eye candy you’ve shared with us. I don’t have the winter blues, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying your colorful, blooming photos. Some I had forgotten about, and need to check out again. Those little tartlets are tempting me, and the blooming bunny basket would be such fun to create. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Mary,
A few weeks ago you asked for inspiration for the new year, and I have debated if my opinion was important enough to comment. After viewing your review of the past year I decided I can’t keep it to myself any longer.
I am a huge fan of Pinterest and follow a few bloggers, you being one of them. I follow a few fashion bloggers along with decorating and diy advice. I enjoy the ones I follow but feel that Pinterest is saturated with this subject matter. To me, your blog is refreshing and each picture so beautiful that I am absorbed in the subject. I have never seen such exquisite table settings. I can just picture you placing each and every detail to perfection, enticing your reader’s to run out and purchase each item to duplicate your design. I must confess, I never even knew what a charger was until I started to follow you. I’m thinking how I would love a potting shed and I don’t like to garden!!! Talk about inspiring someone! Your beautiful pontoon boat with settings from Christmas to Fourth of July, envoke a feeling of being right there cruising Lake Norman with you while sipping wine and enjoying the antics of Chloe and Gracie! I’ve even put on a few pounds enjoying your recipes! A few low calorie ones would be a nice addition! I love to read your narratives with each of your pictures and do appreciate the thought behind the vivid words bringing the picture to life. Your photography is outstanding and so professional.
Thank you for all of the inspiration you have shared with me and many others. Your time and talents are truly loved and appreciated by so many of us. I’m looking forward to continued delight in your colorful world on Lake Norman.

Doreen, Your kind and generous comment is a cure for my winter blues. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and visiting! I hope you’re warm and cozy this morning. :)

        Mega Ditto what Doreen said!!!

Balm for the winter soul! Brilliant post. Still digging out from 26 inches here in PA. Thank you.

  16. January 25, 2016 at 10:47 am

Ha, just what I think we all need for the ‘dead’ of winter. Crystalline snow and muddy black snow—just wears thin quickly. Gorgeous blooms…and your artful designs, Blessings, Sandi

Ok! Mary! WHY hasn’t EVERY magazine stylist snatched you up! Ha! You ARE the decor guru for sure! Every post is an inspiration !! Such perfect and beautiful detail! What a lovely post . . . it is easy to get those ole wintertime blues, but spring is just around the corner. This will be my first year with my potting shed/green house, so I’m excited to get a head start :)

  23. January 25, 2016 at 2:21 pm

How the heck did I miss almost every single one of these GORGEOUS posts??? I must have been totally in a fog for most of the year, Mary. I am going to visit each one, just to drink in the beauty & dream of sunshine & warmth to come. SOOOO glad you did this reprise!

Those pictures made my heart sing! Thank you! And double ditto for what Doreen expressed so eloquently!!

Do you have any secrets that make your snowball bush bloom so prolifically? My amount of blooms has dwindled over the years. I thought last year maybe the area had gotten too shady, so we limbed up a lot of trees…we will see what the spring brings

    • January 26, 2016 at 7:53 am

Thanks so much Roxanne! I was surprised to find so many blooms on our snowball bush last spring. We’ll see what happens this year. I bet more sun is the key to more blooms for you! :)
