Fall has been slow to arrive in North Carolina and I’m slowing making my way around the Potting Shed, adding some fall color with pumpkins and mums.
We’ve had a warm week with temperatures in the 80s but we’re cooling down a bit in time for the weekend.
Our leaves are just starting to show the first signs of golden fall color.
I cut some lespedeza that borders the field next to my Potting Shed, to enjoy the wispy golden leaves in watering cans and to hang on rakes.
Black-eyed Susan vine has climbed the ladder this summer as a trellis and the cheery yellow flowers are enjoying our warm summer-like temperatures.
I switched my Potting Shed Garden Shop Sign to a seasonal and spooky sign for Halloween! It’s hanging on the hardware cloth frame with some vintage garden tools, an old rake head, Indian corn, bittersweet vine, mini pumpkins and crows.
The spooky sign on the back door of my shed was featured in Better Homes and Gardens special publication, Halloween Tricks & Treats Magazine in the Spellbinding Outdoor Decorations section.

Mary, Your potting shed is always inspiring. Do you have a front and back door? I noticed in one pic the door is off center and there is a window. Also the door is different. Both facades showcase fall beautifully.
I am crazy over your creative Halloween sign on the door Mary, and have been drooling over all your touches in the BHG Halloween magazine while I’ve been playing with my new cauldron :) It’s 63 in Bham this am with high tomorrow only 71! Football will be watched on the patio, can I borrow some of those wonderful flowers, plants, vines, and garden goodies for the decor? Your potting shed deserves it’s very own publication to show off it’s many seasonal fashions! Have a wonderful weekend!

A visit to the Potting Shed is always the best way to start the day! I am repeating myself, but it requires repeating- your pumpkins are the best of the best!! My Grandson, Benjamin at 2 1/2 yrs., has become the pumpkin lover of all pumpkin lovers and he is over the top sitting with “Gem” to look at these pumpkins over and over. Love the door sign surrounded by my favorite bittersweet. That black-eyed susan vine is so cute. Thank-you from both of us for this delightful post, the photos are so beautiful.
Mary, as it is much cooler here in NE AL this morning, your potting shed dressed in all of autumn’s glory is like opening a beautiful coffee table book as I drink my coffee! I savored every photo!

I just love how you decorate your Potting Shed! It should be in every decor and garden magazine!!!! I woke to 39 degrees this morning, brrrr. I have been traveling out west and this was the temp. in Illinois. I am ready to get back to NC. Enjoy that warm weather.

Every season I see the changes you make to the potting shed and every season my first thought is: That potting shed just fits the season and Fall is no exception! I could pull up a picnic blanket and just stare at it for hours.

Mary, I love your pumpkin patch potting shed and the variety of shapes and colors and sizes you have gathered! From the tiny ones on top of the sign to the huge Cinderella perched on your ladder, they are all intriguing and make a wonderful display.
