Weekend Waterview: Rising Water, Welcome Sunshine and Ducks

Happy Sunday!

After a soggy week and 4 inches of rain we are finally drying out and enjoying some welcome sunshine!

The lake level is at full pond and our neighbor’s dock looks like it’s floating on the water.

The Snowball Viburnum and white spring blooms are waning and the azaleas are peaking.

It’s been the perfect weather this spring if you’re a duck, with 9 out of 11 rainy weekends.

We have daily duck visitors in the yard, waddling from feeder to feeder, eating the spilled seed and foraging for insects.

We usually only see Mallards, but this white domesticated duck, an American Pekin, has been visiting lately.

We’re on a warming trend with temperatures in the 80s later this week.

Hope you’re enjoying some sunshine and beautiful spring weather where you are!

Thank you for your visit!

Gorgeous Mary. Are those George Tabor azaleas? My mother had those and they have a wonderful perfume that will fill the air on a warm day. The water view is to die for and it looks like the ducks are taking full advantage of of it.

Our azaleas are coming into bloom now too. Such beautiful pictures of your lake! I think we need to come over to Lake Norman this spring sometime, it has been ages since we have been there. Wildlife is wonderful to see, your ducks look very happy!

How very beautiful! I would just sit by your water’s edge for hours and not get anything done, lol. Sweet ducks! We are safely home, hard to believe our vacation is over, but we still had a great time in spite of the rainy days. The afternoons would clear up and I could get out and do some walking Enjoyed the Biltmore gardens too. My daffodills are blooming and we are to have at least 3 full sunny days in the high 70’s before some rain on Wednesday! Yea! Happy Spring, finally!

We were away this past week, but I could see the rain in the forecast, and we had similar high waters the week before, making our neighbors’ docks look like they’re in the middle of the river (gangplank style walkouts to the docks). I would much rather see ducks on our riverbank than Canada geese any day! Your views, garden plants (azaleas esp) are beautiful, and mine are just starting to bud.

Oh those ducks are adorable Mary! I do know they can be messy though, :) I think warm weather is here at last!

Good Sunday morning Mary! What a serene scene. Thank you for sharing it with us. Our azaleas are in full bloom & filling the air with sweet fragrance. We have the lighter pink variety. Our knock out red roses are in full bloom as well since the rain ended Friday. The ducks are visiting our lake too. We hope to see the baby ducklings soon. This weekend is the first weekend of 2018 where we’ve had no rain. We’re doing our happy dance! Wishing you a relaxing Sunday afternoon!

So pretty and peaceful. Reminds me of the days when my husband and I lived in Charlotte and had a condo on Lake Norman. The kids were small and life was sweet! Enjoy!

After today I think Spring will really be here! It is COLD (48) and windy today but like you, going to the 80’s Thurs. and Fri!! I LOVE these weekend water views, please keep them coming! The ducks are adorable. We have a bunny making a nest in our front alcove. Can’t wait to see babies. I have never seen a baby bunny before!!!Happy Sunday, Mary!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful post–it made my day!! This area will see some 80’s starting Tuesday. Today is rather chilly–in the 50’s. All the trees are green now and several of the flowers have bloomed. Enjoy your weekend!!

Here in my section of Ohio we are just now seeing the spring bulb flowers opening up and the flowering trees are starting to show their beauty also. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous view!!

So pretty! Never lived by water, we have ponds and a canal next door now and hearing ducks and geese all day is kind of thrilling! My finch feeders are crazy crowded, the noise level is staggering!

Quelle belle journée de printemps ! Nous avons eu les même la semaine dernière, mais la journée d’hier ressemblait à un dimanche de Novembre !
    Bonne journée, amie lointaine.

The azaleas are gorgeous Mary! I lost an arborvitae during a snow storm this year and debated about what to replace it with. Azalea was tempting but I opted for an Alberta Spruce which I’m hoping I can keep shaped like a Christmas tree and add Christmas lights:@) Enjoy the nice weather!

Hi Mary, Your lake looks so peaceful and the light in your photos is wonderful. I can imagine those ducks quacking on the shore and I’m wondering if the white domestic sounds like the others. He or she seems to have been adopted by the group. Soon you will have ducklings! How exciting! Linda

Your photos are like a travel brochure depicting a 5 star resort on the water…the azaleas are gorgeous…just spectacular images throughout the post…Our “local” lake is truly at a high level too…even though the rain has been a bit of a nuisance lately, it certainly is contributing to the beautiful blooms we are experiencing! Have a great week Mary!
