On Lakecation: Dockside Dining

I’m taking a little ‘lakecation’ this week. . .

Taking some time off to unwind and unplug. . .

Setting sail into a week with no projects or appointments . . .

Slowing down to enjoy the scenery. . .

With no plans other than drifting peacefully from reading to watching the water.

Maybe swim with the fishes. . .

Worry Less, Paddle More.

Maybe pack a picnic. .  .

Go for a boat ride. . .

Watch the birds . . .

Enjoy the sunset.

The best picture in the world with your 4 legged loved one and the setting sun! Do you serve dinner on your wonderful table scapes also?

I love this, Mary. I hope you really do take a lakecation. You’ve certainly already put a lot of thought and effort into planning it. Such great details!

Enjoy your lakecation, Mary! You have a beautiful spot to enjoy the peacefulness and scenery.

Ahhhhhh…so relaxing and we all need to sit back and smell the roses or in your case the beautiful lake. Here in SW Florida the beaches are being cleaned from the results of red tide and blue/green algae so our “smellers” are on hold. Love your serene tablescape.

YES! Sounds like heaven! What a great table, love the fish plates, the anchor stirrers and the glasses with the perfect wording! Love all of it! Enjoy your rest and all of the beautiful scenery at your lakeside view, a.k.a. “a little bit of heaven on earth”. 😊

    Mary,

Are the lakecation glasses a recent acquisition or from a prior year?

That is one very lucky dog! So nice to see her enjoying her lake life.

    • August 20, 2018 at 1:37 pm

Hi Betsy, I found them about a month ago :)

  22. August 20, 2018 at 3:26 pm

Hi, I so love your blog and thank you for sharing. I wanted to ask however, living near a lake do you have issues with mosquitos? I was looking to see if you had a blog post on that.

    • August 20, 2018 at 4:40 pm

Thank you Bernie! We don’t have mosquito problems other than what you would normally encounter outdoors. Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water so our birdbath is more of a mosquito hazard than our busy lake. ;)

Have a great lakecation- great time of the year for it! Love the dish stack- the fish plates are so cute! I’m surprised I haven’t seen those Lakecation glasses around here since we are surrounded by so many lakes! They’re probably out there but I just haven’t spotted them yet. Enjoy your time.🌞🛶⛱

A lakecation sounds like a perfect way to say goodbye to summer! Love those wine glasses!

  30. August 20, 2018 at 8:46 pm

Enjoy your lakecation, Mary! I would be thrilled to sit there and watch the water or read or set sail! Enjoy every bit!

  31. August 21, 2018 at 12:20 am

Lovely as usual. It must be so nice living on the lake during spring and summer.
I don’t get your blog by email anymore. I signed up again and still nothing.

I might need to hound Home Goods every single day in search of the Lakecation stemless wines! I wish I could find the source behind the source. They would make the perfect gift for my sister, whose lake house is right next door to mine. I agree, lakecations are the best! I can’t remember how I first found your blog, but certainly do enjoy all of your posts. Happy Lakecationing!

    • August 21, 2018 at 7:16 am

Thank you Carolyn, I wish I had a source for you! The glasses were priced individually for $4 each but no manufacturer’s tag. The other two glasses in the set said ‘Lake Life'( with an anchor) and #LakeLife. I’ve Googled but no luck. I thought they might be Mud Pie but don’t see them on their site. If I run across them again I’ll let you know :)

  35. August 21, 2018 at 9:26 am

I am loving those Lakecation glasses as well!! Sad to know that we don’t know who makes them :( So cute!
Your sailboat napkins are adorable- how long did you have to wait for a sailboat to pass by to get that shot??!!!
    You are incredible!

    • August 21, 2018 at 1:34 pm

Hi Ann, If I find a source online for these glasses, I’ll let you know…you need a set! Our cove is very active in summer, so it was just a matter of time before a boat came by 🚣‍♀️🚤⛵️🛶⚓️😀

Oh Mary, what a fantastic table in a fantastic setting right on the lake! You are living my dream, on your lovely lake and I always love the nautical accents you often incorporate!

  37. September 6, 2018 at 12:48 pm

Great photos, I love your table decor! Fantastic job at illustrating what boating can be like, love it! Lake boating is fantastic if you can, right now I’m an ocean boater on the coast.
