Barefoot and Boat Time

DSC_0030-001

We had the good fortune to visit Puerto Rico recently

and enjoy a little barefoot and boat time

while we were there.

were hiding in plain sight

 garnishing the tray~

If the idea of a mouse among your grapes and melon

doesn’t make you run screaming :)

here’s a quick step-by-step how-to. . .

DSC_0003-001

Cut the kiwi horizontally keeping the end

intact that will be the nose~

DSC_0007-001

Use a knife to cut out small ovals,

(mine where a little bigger than I intended)

to make the eye areas.

DSC_0012-001

You can trim the ovals with kitchen shears

to make them more ear-like in shape.

DSC_0022-001

Cut a slit in the kiwi to place the ears.

DSC_0025-001

Add seeds for the eyes~ watermelon seeds would

be ideal, since I didn’t have watermelon,

 I used apple seeds.

DSC_0035-001

More of a fuzzy & friendly

kiwifruit critter than a mouse :)

What an adorable kiwi critter Mary! So nice that you had a little getaway. I made the goat cheese and pesto bird nest that you posted last year. It was a big hit at our dinner party! It’s on my blog today.

Cute little mice! What a lovely idea…..Mr. Art @ Home is a sailor (he grew up sailing at Southern Yacht Club in New Orleans) and he loves cats!

    Enjoy your day!

It’s official. I am clearly completely unbalanced in my phobia of mice. As adorable as that it, it really did kind of creep me out. Now, that’s just pathetic, isn’t it? I could myself as making progress that I didn’t go running and screaming and actually looked to see how it was made.

    Baby steps?

What a lovely escape! I’ve never been to Puerto Rico and have heard it’s a great getaway spot. Your tutorial on the kiwi mouse is fun but I’m not sure I want a mouse on my fruit tray, kiwi or not! I do feel like I’ve had a mini vacation this morning, thank you!
