Are you making your lists and checking them twice? I have an easy food gift that’s ideal for last-minute gift giving and to have on hand for holiday snacking, Christmas Popcorn Crunch! You can whip up a batch in less than 15 minutes with the help of your microwave and customize it to your taste!
I’ve made a version of this candy coated popcorn snack mix for Thanksgiving, Halloween, Easter and Valentine’s Day. The sweet and salty combination of popcorn, nuts, pretzels and candy, makes it highly addictive!
I had a little incentive to whip up a large batch when we received a bushel of popcorn for a gift. While munching my way through part of the bag watching Clark Griswold wrestle with his Christmas lights and warning Ralphie that he’ll “shoot his eye out” is still on my agenda, I decided to “re-gift” and use some to whip of a batch of Christmas Popcorn Crunch!
You can use almond bark, white chocolate chips, or candy melts to make this Christmas Popcorn Crunch. I like using CandiQuik (found on the baking aisle) for the convenience of the blocks of bark and the microwave disposable tray, but any brand of candy coating will work.
No recipe required for this sweet and salty treat!
Pop your corn using your preferred method and mix with your candy coating. I use a ratio of 6 cups of popcorn per 16 ounce package of candy coating/ almond bark. You can adjust your candy coating-to-popcorn ratio to your taste.
Melt candy coating according to the package directions so it doesn’t scorch while heating. CandyQuik recommends heating one minute, then stirring and repeating in 15 second increments until melted. My 16 oz. package was completely melted after 2 minutes and 15 seconds, but all microwaves are different. Mix your melted candy coating with your popcorn in a large bowl, stirring until coated, then spread popcorn on wax paper or parchment lined baking sheet(s) to cool and set.
Add some Christmas red and green sprinkles to your popcorn while the coating is still warm, to make it merry and bright.
Once your popcorn is set (about 10 minutes), break into pieces. To your popcorn, stir in nuts, pretzels, and candy of choice. I used red and green M&Ms, pretzels, a can of assorted nuts and some dried cranberries.
Store it in an airtight container. I found the Christmas tins and pails at Hobby Lobby for gift giving for 50% off this week.
This is a quick food gift to whip up and have for that neighbor or co-worker that shows up unexpectedly with a gift in hand, or to snack on during your Christmas movie marathon while you watch George Bailey.

Thanks for the recipe, the popcorn crunch looks delicious and will be making it. Like you, our family’s favorite movie is A Wonderful Life. We bake cookies while we see the movie and a few days later we view it again as we enjoyed the sweets.
Love the Popcorn Crunch!!! Sooo easy too. My favorite Christmas movie is of course, It’s A Wonderful Life!! I have two versions..the black & white and the colorized. My fav is the black & white!! Good old George Bailey.. I have many, many favorite Christmas movies!!

Your popcorn creations always sound delicious Mary, and I would love to have a big tin of Christmas Popcorn Crunch to nibble while we watch our family favorite Christmas Vacation! We watch it every Christmas Eve, and call ourselves the Griswolds all year long when we do something silly, like visit 3 different tree lots hunting for the perfect tree…but at least ours didn’t come with a squirrel :) and luckily we don’t have a cousin Eddy! Yummy! This looks like a perfect snacking treat, Mary. Will follow you lead and have some on hand. I also like chocolate popcorn bark, just popcorn covered with chocolate. There used to be a local store that made and sold it. I’ve never mastered their technique, but love the combo.
