Guest Bloggers Chloe and Gracie: Sailing into Summer

Hi Everyone, this is Chloe & Gracie, wishing you a happy first day of Summer! We’re guest posting for our Mom today, since she’s been busy gardening and working on some projects around her Potting Shed. We told her we’d fill in for her and give her a break with a little ‘sailing into summer’ and boating fun!

Our Mom said to tell you that ‘sailing into summer’ is really an expression for those of you who are new here. While we love to watch the sailboats on the water, putting around on the pontoon is more our speed.

There’s nothing we love better than the wind in our ears or our tails unless it’s riding with our Dad in the Captain’s chair.

We pulled together some nautical fun from our Mom’s archives. . .

Ideal for weighing anchor and sailing into summer!

The summer boating season is definitely underway here on Lake Norman with our warm (hot!) weather.

Towels provide a tablecloth and absorbent seating and pillows keep us anchored for a little nautical fun.

Rope cocktail plates, purchased a couple of years ago from Pottery Barn, are first mate to Tommy Bahama melamine anchor plates, found at HomeGoods . . .

And flatware and napkin rings provide a nautical rope detail to pair with rims of the plates.

Please tell me what do you clean your boat seats with? HELP! I need to know ASAP and order it. Thanks a million.

    • June 21, 2017 at 5:14 pm

Hi Teresa, That would be my husband and he’s not for sale :) He uses 3M Marine Mildew Stain Remover, it takes a couple of bottles the beginning of the season and ALOT of elbow grease!

  21. June 21, 2017 at 5:24 pm

Chloe and Gracie, it is so much fun to hear from you two. You always look like you are having so much fun on Daddy’s boat but sometimes I am afraid you might fall out. Be careful. Could you ask you Mom what she uses for dressing on the southwest chicken salad boat? It looks delish and I would like to try it. Have a great summer on Lake Norman. It is beautiful. We were there one summer many years ago.

Happy sails always bring happy wagging tails!! The girls just love fun times on your sailing excursions; they are always darling and mom catches the cutest expressions with them. Delightful post Mary, your decor is always amazing!! Hope you all are enjoying a lovely summer.

Thanks you for all your inspiration, I have used the lemon curd w blueberry sauce and lemon cake with great success Have been creative also trying blueberry sauce over ice cream or sherbet garnished w/mint and it has also been so refreshing for dessert. Thanks again, Kathy.
