At the Table~ Sweetest Day

DSC_2470-001

I’m enjoying some garden-inspired dining with

Sweetest Day Dinnerware by Pfaltzgraff.

DSC_2506-001

Sweetest Day brings the vibrant life of a garden to your table. Charmingly casual with the fresh feel of a summer day, a honeycomb border buzzes with activity with bees and blooms of red, orange, and blue flowers.

DSC_2436-001

Yellow check napkins are tied with a picot edge ribbon and in lieu of napkin rings, just-picked blossoms of yellow bidens and blue lobelia, flower on the bows.

DSC_2417-001

A playful plaid tablecloth provides a colorful landscape for the dinnerware, used at the table previously with a harvest of veggies and reliable seeds.

DSC_2511-002

Quattro Stagioni canning jars were discovered at an unlikely apiary, T.J. Maxx, a couple of months ago, so I made a beeline for the check out counter!

DSC_2442-001

The bee skep design is ideal for a

just-picked bouquet from the garden.

DSC_2770-001

Crafted of stoneware, Sweetest Day Dinnerware is as hard-working as a bee busily gathering nectar.  A cake plate provides a pedestal for a bee skep as a centerpiece for the table.

DSC_2454-001

A flowering vase of slender arching Gooseneck Loosestrife, Black-eyed Susans, and Queen Anne’s Lace grace each place setting for a sweet and cottage-style bouquet.

DSC_2513-001

I couldn’t resist gilding the lily

or in this case the bee skep. . .

sprout from the top!

A soup/cereal bowl holds 24 ounces when it’s not playfully serving as a pedestal for a mini bee skep :)

  3. July 29, 2013 at 7:17 am

You have a gift for puting together color, and patterns . Everything coordinates. You must have quite a collection of dinnerware and it must be fun to entertain with all the different patterns you have. Enjoy your Monday !

I love the soft yellows and great colors in the dinnerware Mary! All the details are great, even your choice of ribbon is very eye catching:@)

  5. July 29, 2013 at 7:55 am

Love that you used 2 different chargers and those gorgeous jars again…the yellow just pops.

    XO,
    Christine

Those dishes have some of my favorite colors and are just made for the garden table, if that makes sense. Of all the pretties, and there are many, the thing I love the most for some reason is the simple gingham napkin tied with the bow and flower. That is just so lovely to me.

  7. July 29, 2013 at 8:12 am

Another great pattern from Pfaltzgraff! Beautiful table, Mary!

Mary, such a pretty table you’ve set with the Sweetest Day dishes! I love how you’ve used the bee skep as a centerpiece and you even have a matching miniature one! I will have to look for those canning jars the next time I’m in TJ Maxx!

I just love that bee skep centerpiece…what a great table for summer entertaining. The bee themed dinnerware is so charming and goes great with your bee flatware. Love it!

  12. July 29, 2013 at 8:49 am

You sure have fun playing with dishes, Mary! Oh my, do I ever love that “sweet” pattern! You certainly enhanced it’s beauty with all your pretty accessories. The bee skep is the perfect centerpiece! Weren’t you the lucky one in finding those canning jars at TJ Maxx?? The gingham napkins tied with the ribbon are the best choice and that Napoleon flatware…I’ve always so admired it. Sitting at the table by the lake must be so soothing….xo

adorable, i love all the bee touces and delicious details you excel at. the bee slep is the perfect pairing to make your table hum right along~

  22. July 29, 2013 at 10:00 am

Another great table and beautiful setting. The four small arrangements with the bee motif on the jars are charming with the cottage style flowers. I love learning from you. Today, I recognized the flower gooseneck loosestrife but now I know it’s name. Also, I am glad to learn what type ribbon you used to tie your napkin.

  23. July 29, 2013 at 10:07 am

    Good Afternoon Mary,
These Sweetest Day dishes are so lovely and it was so nice that you managed to capture a photograph of the bee on the flower.
This is a beautiful table setting and as always you have a keen eye for detail….. I just love visiting you.
    Enjoy your day,
    Best Wishes

Do bloggers have a “sharing your garden day”? I would love to see yours, you always have the prettiest flowers in your table scapes. By this time of year in my corner of Texas all but the hardiest of flowers are waiting for cooler weather, so I do love seeing yours, thanks for sharing!

Bee-utiful Mary, the flatware, mini and maxi bee skeps, and sweet napkin “rings” are such a compliment to the Sweetest Day dishware. Everyone will be flocking to dine in this fun summer setting amongst the flowers and the bees~ I love that each setting has their own special jar of pretties~

  31. July 29, 2013 at 8:13 pm

Mary, this is a happy setting! Of course I’m smiling at all the bee details, and eagerly awaiting a delivery of a set of those cute canning jars. I place an order on Amazon when I saw them on your previous post. I searched for some brown gingham napkins for my Brown Cow table, but didn’t find any. I thought they would add a bit of country charm. Your picot edged ribbon napkin rings are such a sweet country touch. You think of everything. I hope Pfaltzgraff does a book or catalog of your gorgeous tables set with their products.

Love your bee-themed table, and your special touches add vibrance and beauty. The dishes are gorgeous. We use canning jars for everything (even biscuit cutting), but they would be darling for lemonade or iced tea. I’ve got to look them up. Thanks for providing eye candy, inspiration, and joy.

  33. July 30, 2013 at 7:44 am

    Always so beautiful….

    Cute dishes…love the bee skeps.
    Have a wonderful week, Mary…

  46. August 7, 2013 at 10:24 pm

Well Mary, I say this all the time, but this is another one of my favorites. :-D You really are amazing! I absolutely love these dishes — the pattern is so pretty and summery. I love everything you’ve done on this table. One of my favorite things in summer is to put fresh flowers in mason jars, and this is such a pretty mason jar. I adore Queen Anne’s Lace; I always want to pick them from the fields, but my mom always said they had chiggers when we were growing up, so now I’m afraid to pick them. :) Love your gingham napkins with the flower and the bee skep. I have a bee skep in our kitchen, and it’s one of my treasures. I hunted for one for over two years, and of course found it when I’d stopped looking.

Your table and your photographs are lovely, Mary. Visiting from “Let’s Dish” — have a wonderful week!

What a great table! I love the cloth and the skep is the icing on the cake. Those dishes are so pretty! But I mustn’t! I don’t want to have to have a dish house built on my porch! :)
Thanks for linking to Let’s Dish, Mary. Always a treat to come here!

  54. August 30, 2013 at 7:40 pm

I fell in love with the the Sweetest day plates the moment I saw them. (and the tablecloth too) I bought the Sweetest day salad plates today on the store site at a nifty 67% off. I can’t wait to use them. I’ve collecting bee stuff ever since this post. Thanks for the inspiration.

  55. July 17, 2014 at 10:40 am
