At the Table~ Falling Leaves

DSC_5452-001

In anticipation of fall, I’m at the table with

Falling Leaves Dinnerware by Pfaltzgraff.

DSC_5522-001

In North Carolina, we don’t see

our leaves turn or feel the nip in the air until

 the end of October.

Fall is my favorite time of year

and I’m anxiously awaiting both!

Falling Leaves Dinnerware

brings an organic feel to the table

with bold leaves in warm, earthy shades

of russet and espresso.

Woven chargers add a rustic texture and contrast

with the smooth and satin finish of the flatware.

An artificial garland is serving as a runner on the table~

enhanced with addition of oak leaves, dried hydrangea blooms,

grapevine pumpkins, and burlap ribbon.

Hydrangea blooms have dried and faded

to a papery texture, filling & adding

a little softness to the garland.

So rustic & textured with various layers of color & contrast…you do this so well, Mary! Like you, I can’t wait for autumn to arrive so I can pull out the fall decorations. I have a similar garland that I use on my mantle…never thought to put it across my table, though! Very creative!
I like how you picked up the one bit of bright color in the Falling Leaves dinnerware with those gorgeous paisley napkins from Kohls. The stemware is beautiful, too.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas on how to create such a welcoming table.

Hi Mary, All your beautiful colors are actually making me yearn for those intense autumn colors here, too! We felt the nip in the air here briefly yesterday morning. I love your idea of upgrading the garland with your own additions. These dishes are so interesting! And I love the burlap tablecloth, and I’m not really usually into burlap. I enjoyed your link back to “bottled sunshine”–hurray for your governor!! And those gates with the grapes!!!!! Enjoy your bottled Chloe! Linda

Well..now I’m off to Pier 1 to check on those napkins…they are so perfect! Course anything with paisley is perfect in my way of thinking. Our first “red/limey green/gold leaf, that I saw. fell on my dinner plate last nite. Can it be??? franki

As great looking as the Falling Leaves dinnerware is, I can’t take my eyes off of the garland table runner~just simply stunning! I love all the added touches, especially the dried hydrangeas, very gorgeous! I am getting weary of the summer brights and am looking forward to the autumn changes. I would love to enjoy a bowl of Pear-Butternut Squash Soup at such an inviting Fall table, with autumn gently arriving over your beautiful lake!

Those dishes are beautiful and your tablescape is just lovely…but I’m not ready! Here in the northeast our summer season is way too short and I am not eager for it to go away.

  11. August 26, 2013 at 9:28 am

This just makes my heart skip a beat!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fall is my VERY favorite time of year, for all it brings and also for the decorating possibilities! Your runner is GORGEOUS and I am going to haver to steal that idea!!!!! LOVE the dishes, is your hubby drawing up plans for a dish room addition for you:):):) Fall on the lake would be a BIG slice of Heaven to me. XO, Pinky

I love fall too. I feel a little guilty as summer wanes, that I have not enjoyed it enough because I am waiting so eagerly for the leaves to change colors. Your tables as always are so beautiful. Thank you for sharing them.

  14. August 26, 2013 at 11:07 am

It’s all so pretty Mary, I can almost feel a nip in the air!! LOVE how you’ve mixed in those wonderful dried hydrangeas! Thank you for your sweet well wishes! xoxo

Mary, I sure needed to read your encouraging words about fall. Don’t know why I dread it ’cause I sure don’t enjoy summer’s heat. Guess it’s because I have to put away everything pink & know I won’t see it again until Valentine’s Day décor goes up. I’m not fond of oranges & yellows but your lovely autumn décor is just great. The color orange is an accent, not overbearingly prominent. Thank you! Maybe I’ll be ready for an early fall too!

  16. August 26, 2013 at 12:04 pm

Your fall table is stunning. I am like you – LOVE fall and can hardly wait to start decorating.
    Have a great day.
    Mary

  17. August 26, 2013 at 12:20 pm

This is such a pretty table for autumn. I have some small stoneware dessert plates that would look so good with these falling leaves plates! They are the same color as your leaf-shaped plates. I need to post them soon so you can see them!

Just a beautiful Fall table, Mary. You really pull things together in a wonderful way. I love all the scents and sights of Fall but I am desperately holding onto summer here. I feel like we got cheated out of it. That being said, Fall is my very favorite season. xo Diana

Love the dinnerware pattern…Your table has a combination of rustic and elegance at the same time.. the whole effect is very uplifting…Fall is in the air…

Mary, I hope you enjoyed the little nip in the air this weekend. It certainly put me in the mood to begin decorating for fall. This table is gorgeous, and using the garland on the table is genius! I have a feeling that is going to be copied many times this fall!

  27. August 28, 2013 at 7:23 pm

Beautiful table, Mary. I love the garland as runner. I have the water glasses in the same pattern as your stems.

I just can’t get in the Fall mood with our high temperatures here in Texas, Mary, but I’m sure enjoying seeing your pretty table. I love the dinnerware and the two napkins mixed together. The garland down the center is stunning. Your table is beautiful, as always. xo

Love North Carolina and your beautiful table setting has me eagerly awaiting cooler temperatures here in Texas. We don’t have the variation of Fall colors that y’all get but the oaks that cover our place will change and drop their leaves. My plan was to move to North Carolina but as plans don’t always go as planned we ended up here in Texas. Not saying I don’t love Texas but still love North Carolina with it’s green hills and beautiful highways. We did get rain today and temperatures in the mid 60’s so maybe Fall is not too far off. Guess it’s time to dig out my Autumn decorations and help hurry it along. Enjoy your blog. Jill
