No Southern recipe required, one 8.5 ounce box of Jiffy corn muffin mix makes four 4 inch skillets of cornbread~ add cheese, jalapenos, bacon, and/or sour cream if you like.
Bravo! This is a fabulous tribute to Michael Lee and all her delightful characters. You’ve certainly been busy in the kitchen. Puts my cotton candy cake to shame. You can guess how it took me to put my “cake” together. ‘-)
Such a fun party, I don’t want to leave!
Happy, Happy Birthday, Michael Lee. We adore you! ~ Sarah
What a great party!!! Why is it I am always hungry when I leave your blog? :) Awesome treats you have here!! Love the sparkler!! xo Jeanne and the girlz
Oh Mary, what a fabulous celebration you’ve prepared for our favorite author, Michael Lee West! I’d love to be there to celebrate and sample each of your wonderful creations. What a wonderful display of food in accordance to books. Happy Birthday, Michael Lee! xo
Fantastic party for ML, incorporating all of her special dishes!
“Pimento Cheese, the Pâté of the South” LOL
I love your little cast iron skillets!
You did an incredible job, Mary….too bad we can’t all get together for a REAL birthday bash.
Thanks for all the work you & Jain put into making this virtual party a HUGE success.
fondly,
Rett
p.s. ♥♥♥ the quilt, too!
Wow what a fabulous celebration for Michael! Happy Birthday punched pages!! Pimento cheese stuffed deviled eggs with bacon! Red Velvet cake martini! I might never leave! You have thought of everything and more Mary, and even though I know how much work and effort you put into all of this, I can see you smiling through your photos~the book vignettes are each and all clever and creative, the food and all the details are delightful! Thanks so much for inviting me to join the fun. Happy Birthday Michael!
Jenna
I am pretty talented but I don’t believe I could match yours. A beautiful tribute to Michael. She couldn’t have a more creative friend. Happy Birthday, Micheal🎂
Mary, What a wonderful celebration you have prepared for Michael Lee!! Can you imagine all those women and vampires at the same table??? Oh dear! Well, you and Michael Lee may just be the hostesses who could handle it. I love love love the use of the extra book pages to add to the decor. I thought of serving sweet tea, too, (I know it uses lots of Sugar) but I went with something stronger instead. All that food sounds scrumptious. I would eat every single thing, although I must say I’m not sorry that the lima beans were otherwise engaged. I love deviled eggs and pimento cream cheese, and cornbread too! It must be extra delicious served in individual skillets. I must admit, you southern girls do have a special touch! I love your party. Happy birthday Michael Lee! She has inspired us and she didn’t even know about it!! Linda
What a southern spread! You always have such wonderful tables and fabulous food to go along with them. I just couldn’t resist a collection of the little skillets at Costco a few weeks ago – not that I need another thing to stuff into my house! Everything on your table is such perfection, as always! Happy Birthday Michael Lee!
Mary, it was you who introduced me to Michael Lee West’s fun and campy books…and I have now read them all (except for the vampire series under the name of Piper Maitland) and loved them all.
Happy, Happy Birthday, Michael Lee!
~Mary~
Wonderful party planner you are !! You always find the best things, the Happy Birthday punch is so neat, and where do you find little mini cast iron skillets, my gosh those are a keeper!
Have a fun day !
Paula-In.

i am loving the bday cut outs, egads you are so out of my boundary limits!!!
and i am not real partial to blood at the table either!
oh your southern girls sure know how to throw a party! i am wild over it all, your southern comfort is spilled all over the pages… i am so thrilled to see this all, mlw must be a puddle on the floor drooling over all her pages come to life with your vivid paintbrush of talent… it as truly exhilarating to me, i can’t wait for her to join in her party!

This is such a wonderful birthday celebration and your imagination never ceases to amaze me!!!
Mary, this is such a wonderful table and birthday celebration for an amazing friend! I love that picture with the sparkler, so cool seeing the sparks a-flying! :) I could just dive into all that scrumptious food! So wish we could all come together to celebrate in person for Michael’s birthday! Beautiful post and loved all the gorgeous pictures!
Oh Happy Birthday to Michael the very talented blogger and author and chef extraordinaire…your pics of the table and all that lusciousness is outstanding….you make things incredibly fun and beautiful….you are magical!
Mary, you have put together a very special celebration for our birthday Queen Michael Lee West! The only thing better would be to celebrate at Rattlebridge Farm in person. Happy Birthday, Michael Lee!
I came back for second helpings of those divine deviled eggs and couldn’t find the comment I left yesterday. Either Internet Explorer burped or I am having a Senior moment. :-) But a well fed Senior. Look at this menu: “Sweet Tea, Southern Fried Chicken, Fried Okra, Skillet Cornbread and Pimento Cheese Deviled Eggs.” And then you made me laugh out loud: “Collard Greens, Fried Green Tomatoes, Macaroni & Cheese and Lima Beans send their regrets and could not attend :)” Quintessentially Southern in cuisine, comedy, and manners. Your PCDEggs are going to be a New Classic at our house as they combine all the things I love about Southern food–into a finger food! Easily transportable, too. Then, my senses are tickled by corn bread (my grandmother taught me to use Jiffy), the browned tops peeking out of cast iron skillets. I love the way you took the extra book and made a festive banner, and the cut-outs are brilliant. As I predicted yesterday, Teeny drank the peachtinis . What a little hog! lol This splendid bounty is arranged on the most gorgeous patchwork quilt–and as a bonus, I get to enjoy background views of the lake. This party will stay with me all year as I savor your words and photos. I emailed you yesterday to say that your book and teapot arrived safely. I have already been taking playful photos of the book–what an inspiration. Thank you so much! I will treasure both gifts. I am grateful for your friendship–my cup runneth over. xx00
Wonderful celebration of Michael’s birthday! The great birthday banner sets the theme. Your red and white accents are the perfect way to share this occasion! I love the cut out of the. Happy Birthday from the book pages the best but the red velvet cupcake in the skillet is fabulous, too. Have a great week!
Just finished reading “Gone with a Handsomer Man” over the Christmas holidays. Loved getting to know Teeny and hope to read some more of Michael Lee West’s books. They are a delight.
