Reindog Games

DSC_4685-002

Santa delivered antlers for Christmas for Chloe & Gracie,

along with a Hide-and-Seek Reindeer Dog Toy,

so they were ready for some Reindog Games!

And Santa’s helper fetched their favorite recipe

for some Reindog Treats from

Three Dog Bakery Cookbook.

Christmas Dog Cookies

Reindog Treats

Makes approximately 6 dozen treats depending on size of cookie cutter, plenty to share with other hungry Reindogs. . .

Presley, Copper, Maddie, Solo, Trixie, Penny, Brutus, Smitty, Pink & Blue.

They freeze well too.

Ingredients

 ½ cup unsweetened applesauce

 1 egg

 ½ cup natural peanut butter

 1 teaspoon vanilla

 1 ¼ cups water

4 cups whole-wheat flour

 ½ cup cornmeal

 ½ cup quick cook oats

 ¼ cup chopped peanuts

DSC_4600-002

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl, combine applesauce, egg, peanut butter, vanilla & water.

In a second bowl, combine dry ingredients and peanuts.

Add dry to wet ingredients and mix well. (I used the food processor to pulse everything together since the 5 cups of dry ingredients makes this challenging to mix.)

Turn dough onto floured surface and knead. Roll out to ¼ inch thick and cut into shapes. Reroll scraps and repeat.

Place on parchment or greased cookie sheet and bake. The original recipe calls for 45 minutes of baking time, mine were done closer to 25 minutes. Watch and remove when slightly browned. Cool on a rack and store in sealed container or wrap in Reindog Treat bags.

The hide and seek toy is much more fun with a

treat instead of a reindeer hidden inside :)

Love the pics of the pups. We have 2 bichons, Benson and Bella, and we would never own another breed. Your pups are adorable! Thanks for sharing!

If I put those on Bailey she would get them off. Your babies are so cute posing for the camera. I really should make Bailey some of those treats.

Cutest fur babies ever! Love the delicious and healthy treats. My dog would love those too. He is on a special allergy diet and these would be perfect. He is very spoiled too and is 14 yrs. old. He is still our baby and acts like it. He looks like 7 yrs old ! He hates jackets( all of a sudden) but loves bling collars. Thanks for sharing your cookies and your little reindeers.

Looks like The Girls had a great Christmas Mary! So cute with their antlers and sweaters! Your doggy treats look like they roll out easier and are nicer to work with than some cookie recipes I’ve tried:@)

Merry Christmas Mary! Chloe and Gracie must have been very good girls this year for Santa to bring them such yummies! Nellie was thrilled to find a new box of Trader Joe’s dog biscuits, a new candy cane striped tennis ball, a new collar (purple cheetah!) and a new stuffed hedgehog in her stocking. She sends her holiday greetings to your furry girls! Linda

Mary, Chloe and Gracie are adorable in every photo I’ve ever seen of them, but especially so in those Christmas sweaters. Too cute!

It looks like your pups got all spruced up for Christmas, and I know they loved their treats. I had to check and see if your Three Dog Bakery was the same as in Rockport. It’s not but the cafe there is named for the owners 3 dogs and there are always homemade treats there.

  18. December 26, 2013 at 1:02 pm

Chloe and Gracie are the cutest little reindogs ever, Mary! I know you love to spoil them and they certainly look like happy puppies! xo

I so love your “Reindogs”….I bet they are tired from traveling the world on Christmas Eve! Hope you had a great one!!!

  21. December 26, 2013 at 6:31 pm

I have never seen Chloe and Gracie looking finer! How adorable they are with their antlers and sweaters! Lucy would never allow something like that on her head. We were lucky to get a Christmas collar on her! Maybe if I made some of those treats she’d be more cooperative like your babies!

Mary, your “girls” are so precious, they look just like plush toys!! I love their sweaters and all the other plaid you’ve used in this post. Hoorah for plaid! The reindeer antlers are perfect, and the reindog treats look great!

I know how much you enjoy your dear doggies; I was thinking the other day that this is the first Christmas in 24 years that Hal and I have been without a dog. I hope we’ll have another Scottie by next Christmas.

Visiting from Seasonal Sundays; I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday, Mary. :)

    Warm Hugs,
