Chalking it Up: Autumn, The Year’s Last, Loveliest Smile!

Fall officially arrives Wednesday and I’m ushering in my favorite season with pumpkins, mums and corn stalks around the Potting Shed!

I’m eagerly anticipating cooler temperatures and fall foliage. . .

And I’m chalking up Summer 2015 as one for the record books with its heat and dry weather. . .

Stick a fork in me, I’m done. . .

Are you listening Mother Nature?

And in total agreement with William Cullen Bryant:

“Autumn, the year’s last, loveliest smile!” (! by me :)

Are you looking forward to fall and pumpkin season?

Autumn, The Year's Most Loveliest Smile!

Perfection Mary- I love all the details! I just gathered some pumpkins over the weekend. I haven’t seen the cornstalks available yet, but I’m sure it will be soon. I love these kinds of arrangements and can’t wait to create mine. As always your blog posts are an inspiration!

I loved seeing my favorite potting shed happily adorned in Fall decor, Mary! The chalkboard with a favorite quote, along with the ! by you is the perfect welcome sign. May you have an enjoyable week puttering or potting!

  11. September 21, 2015 at 9:38 am

I feel like your dried corn stalks Mary! Your potting shed bursting with fall decor, is just what I need to be hopeful that cool temps are coming! I haven’t bought mums yet, too hot here still, but I did pot some pumpkins, don’t you love the warty ones? I love the berry vine trailing about and your chalkboard art and quote is so cute and fun~ your incredible scene has me smiling and feeling brighter on this gloomy Monday, it’s actually raining a bit so maybe it won’t be quite so hot…and I won’t have to take 2 showers today :)

  12. September 21, 2015 at 9:38 am

I just simply love your shed more and more with each visit, Mary!

    Looks wonderful, Mary!

You made my husband and me crack up with the fork comment. We had some of that here in Chicagoland after one of the coldest/wettest/prolonged Springs on record. Summer didn’t start here until the second week in July while Texas was already baking for months. Pumpkins are barely turning orange and our corn is only beginning to dry. Beautiful displays for Fall…always enjoy your posts, thanks, Sandi.

Everything around us here in southeastern PA is showing signs of early fall and your beautiful post just adds to the glory of it all! Put out our fall décor this morning and enjoying it so much…fall through Christmas is my favorite time of year.

I’m done too! Loving your autumn touches. I plan up dressing up our backyard this year. The front yard always seems to get the attention. Not this year!

I love bittersweet vines and berries….When I couldn’t get them, I used Pyracantha (sp?) berries instead, but they don’t give the light, airy feeling of the bittersweet vines…

Lovely as usual, Mary! Happy Fall Equinox!

A wonderful display celebrating our new season! Love all the varieties of pumpkins you found! You definitely have the perfect setting for sharing these fall treasures. Thanks so much for sharing! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

Love your autumn decorations–it feels like autumn today as it’s only 63 degrees with light rain.

Mary, I just love your posts and of course your shed. I started to plant my mums and put out cornstalks and a couple of pumpkins, but have not done my shed area. Thank you for the inspiration! Today was our first cool, dry day and usually in the North East we have had a few by now. I love all your different pumpkins and gourds along with your chalkboard too. The Autumn header on your blog is beautiful! Happy Fall Mary.

As always, Mary you have such a gift for selecting exactly the right plants and decorative items. Like you, I am looking forward to the cooler weather and the beautiful fall colors.

I am so ready for Fall. I don’t think you could stick a fork in me as I’m to well done. With temps over 100 over the weekend, it’s just terrible. I am sick, sick, sick of this HOT weather.
Your Potting Shed is beautiful with all your lovely fall flowers, pumpkins, etc.
    Have a great week,

Lovely as always. Fall has always been my favorite season and Saturday I did accomplish getting out all the fall decorations and dishes and putting away the summer/ beach theme. Thanks Mary for the extra push because it was really hard to let summer go this year. Now, to work on the yard…. lol.

  28. September 22, 2015 at 9:41 am

Mary, Your shed is decorated beautifully for Fall! I especially love the chalkboard. I am soooo over this heat too but here in Florida we will only see a slight dip in temperature around the end of November. Thanks for joining the Share Your Style party and Happy Fall.

Mary- I just discovered your blog and I feel like I have made a new friend who greets me every morning. I am recovering from a serious car accident and your posts are “just what the doctor ordered.” My loves are photography and flower gardening and because of my injuries, it will be a long time before I can do either. Your blog is an inspiration and brings me a lot of happiness.

Margaret, Thank you for your visits and sweet comment! Wishing a speedy recovery. ♥
