I’m at the table with a final post for Halloween before I pack up and put away my cauldron and broom for another year!
I found an owl table runner roosting at HomeGoods, my favorite haunt.
And owl cake pedestal came from Pier 1 recently. . .
Scarily perfect to pair with Better Home & Garden Owl plates found at Walmart several years ago!
Bare twig trees wrapped in burlap came from the dollar spot in Target last year, a tribute to haunted forests. . .
Fitting for raptures of the night alongside Baby Boo Pumpkins!
Owl napkin rings pair checked black napkins with spider webbed ones.
Owl cakelets are a sweet treat rising up from a silicone Woodland Owl Baking Mold from Sur la Table, purchased at our cooking class.
I used a doctored spice cake mix and maple glaze for these owl cakelets.
To doctor any boxed cake mix, substitute buttermilk for water and add one extra egg. Follow the box directions for mixing and baking.
Maple Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
1⁄4 teaspoon cinnamon
1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
1⁄4 cup good maple syrup, more if needed
In small bowl whisk ingredients until smooth until you have desired consistency, adding more powdered sugar if glaze is too thin or more maple syrup (or milk) a teaspoon at a time if glaze is too thick.
You can find easy Owl-oween Cookies that are a hoot to make, here.

Happy Owloween to you too Mary! What a beautiful play on the season. ..love it♡ And those cakelets look so delicious and are the perfect size too…yum! Sending warm wishes from Missouri :)
Really cool table, without being kitschy. I especially like the burlap wrapped twig trees, but it’s how you’ve assembled the pieces over the years, from the various stores, that makes this table look so well put together – it truly was! The cakes turned out awesome. My husband would love those – he loves maple. Happy Owloween!
Happy Owl-oween Mary! This not-too-scary table is perfect for this witch! I love the pedestal and it is amazing how well it works with your plates too. The owl dessert looks delicious–yum–maple! Enjoy wearing your hat for one more day! I’m wearing mine too! Linda
Happy Owl-oween! Adorable detail as always. The cake stand is clever and perfect for holding more than cake. I’m going to copy your owlets using my acorn pan. Thanks for the idea!
Golly, Mary … you are going to force me into visiting Homegoods and I’ve tried very hard to stay away! I adore OWLS. I need more to add to the Parliament…
I just knew that there would be one last Halloween post today! I am elated with this Owl-oween table, a spooktacular ending to this years treats!! I am always amazed by your delightful imagination. You find so many beautiful things and put them together perfectly, your vision is unerring. Thank-you for all of the fantastic posts and Happy Owl-oween to all of your family!
You never cease to amaze, Mary!! That Owl-oween table is the most fun and creative! The owl cakelets are the cutest and I’ll bet they’re tasty too. When are you going to publish a book of your tablescapes? The problem would be narrowing down the ones to include. Thanks for sharing your creativity day after day.
I was having a halloween wine tasting ( the wine had to have a Halloween theme) and I found your blog! It stimulated me a lot. I bought a tired and ugly silk flower arrangement, spray painted it black. I put boxes of different heights on my table, then covered it with a table cloth. I followed what you do and it looked super cute and everyone had a wonderful time. We all had a wonderful time. I’m a subscriber now. Keep those great ideas coming!
I went straight to the Pier 1 site & ordered my Owl Cake Pedestal! A serious owl lover must have one!!! I was planning a pound cake as one of my Thanksgiving desserts & my Owl will show it off perfectly! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for sharing him with us!
Hello, Mary! I am completely obsessed with this table setting!! Would you mind if I share this on my blog (attributed to you, of course).
