Good weather to stay indoors and feather your nest!
Winter Fauna salad plates are taking up residence in my Potting Shed for a little tabletop fun.
They’ve flocked together among the birdhouses for a little tabletop dining and seed buffet.
Bird ornaments have yet to migrate with the other Christmas decorations and are roosting here for winter.
I had some fun last week creating these edible birdhouses, a fun winter activity for feeding your feathered friends!
These birdseed houses function as a Bed and Breakfast ;) to feed the birds, an easy and fun winter or snowy day project for little and big kids alike, using a wood birdhouse for your base. You can find the how-to, HERE.
A chalkboard runner stayed on my galvanized counter after the Christmas holidays. I found it at Hobby Lobby.
Tree slice chargers, pine cones and a bits of greenery add a woodland touch and nesting details. . .
And pine cone embroidered napkins are paired with plaid and bird napkin rings.

Mary, this is so perfect for a cold and wintry Monday! I used the PB salad plates for a table setting last week, they are great to use all winter long! Stay warm!
Love-love-love that you’re still using plaid Mary! It’s colorful and cozy. Very cool that you got some pics of the birds at your B&B’s too:@) Stay warm and enjoy the game tonight!
What a pretty setting, Mary! Ooh how I live those embroidered pinecone napkins! I really must find some mini bird houses for the kids to decorate (and for me, too!).
The Potting Shed with the Woodland Tablescape is the perfect place for all the little birds to perch! My Grandson, Benjamin and I are going to make the edible birdhouses today( after we have some fun in the snow). He just turned 3 yr. old on Saturday, so I expect it will get messy! Isn’t that what his “Gem” is for? Thank-you for another fantastic post, the photos are always beautiful. P.S. The embroidered pine cone napkins are gorgeous.
So pretty and I love birds too. They are fascinating to watch. Love your post!!! Would love to try and make some of the edible birdhouses. They are adorable and know birds will love them. I have a bird feeder and the birds have bombarded it every snowy day. Love the red cardinals. Thanks for a beautiful post. Have a great day!
Mary this is beautiful and play-filled. Your post has encouraged me to use all of my treasures and enjoy them again. The snow looks so much more inviting where you are. Thanks for sharing your exceptional talents and for feeding the birds.
The Potting Shed is such a ray of sunshine on a cold winter’s day!….I am certain you have some very happy birds around your home….and how could they search for seeds anywhere else when they can feed on the beautiful birdseed homes….Love those wonderful bird plates!
I can see you smiling as this is coming together Mary, it is so whimsical and happy! Your bird plates are so pretty with the plaid chargers, and I love to let a little Christmas linger for a while like the way you incorporated the chalkboard runner. The bird ornaments peeking out amid the seed B & Bs are adorable. You have feathered this nest perfectly! We are melting and slowly getting back to normal today so I’m looking forward to getting out of my nest!

Its official…you have totally *gone to the birds* this time, Mary!! Beautiful plates that are, sadly, no longer available from PB. (I just checked) Love the cardinals most of all, of course. They even had pillows & tablerunners to coordinate.
You did a lovely job of making this little corner of your shed remind us of the importance of feeding the birds through the winter. Darling little seed houses!!
I hope your snow is gone by now. We are just coming out of a bitter deep freeze! You know it has been cold when the weather gal on TV rejoices over predictions of temps in the 30’s!!!!!! LOL
Lucky birds that visit you in the winter. I bet they are sending out messages to all their friends,~ party at Mary’s. It is warming here today. Sadly the garden looks rather dead after days of temps in the 20s. I can’t protect it all, but sadly I should have covered the topiary at the front door. It has never been a problem, but this last one did the damage. ;-(
Love the festivities going on in the potting shed. The yummy bed and breakfast houses you made for the birds is the cutest and cleverest idea, not to mention loving and caring for the birds. You are the best!
Stay warm and cozy. Hugs to you and the girls and thanks for the note. Hope to get a post done this week.
Love your bird plates Mary. I love Cardinals but have never seen a “real” one. Guess I have visited the parts of America they don’t inhabit.
I love how you stage your photos. Such a pretty blog.
What a beautiful setting. Love all of it. Your photos are what amaze me the most.
I almost bought those plaid plates because someone had set two aside in Home Goods but I had other things on my list that day.
Mary, is the stone sculpture a Carruth Studio one? I am originally from northwestern Ohio and so many whimsical sculptures came from that shop in Waterville.
Those bird plates are beautiful! And your birds, some look real! The bird houses, feeders are great and I bet your birds are feasting! I have the runner that matches your napkins!!!! It is a short runner so right now it is on my coffee table. Thanks for another beautiful, inspiring post, Mary.
I stepped out on my back screened/glassed porch, the temp was 0’ish and wished for a bit of the bird decor to put in the house…but it was too cold, to even think about it. Love the plaid here with the birds, really so lively—like they are flitting here and there. Gorgeous post…so much fun and I love your seeded birdhouses, though here, the entire house would probably be carried away by our savage squirrels, lol. Thanks, Sandi
I love all of these ideas. The place settings are wonderful and that addition of the bird ornaments are perfect. I can’t wait for our roads to clear so I can try the DIY bird houses❄⛄❄
Very sweet! Love your bird decor! (My bird china is in storage) We are in a tiny home, too, our 27′ travel trailer, for the foreseeable future. Thanks for a fun project! I pinned a bunch of your photos on my P boards.
Happy Thursday!!! 😊☃🕊
Since my blog is named Feathering My Empty Nest, I was particularly taken with your nesting birds tablescape. The bird plates, plaid plates, and the wood chargers are perfect together. And I love the addition of the birdseed houses. I would like to invite you to share your gorgeous tablescape on our Share Your Style link party. I know that the readers of our 6 blogs would love to see all of your fabulousness!
So pretty and happy! Thank you for sharing. But now I have to look for those beautiful bird ornaments!
So cute, Mary.
Love feeding my birdies! Especially the cardinals.Your photos are inspirational.

All those delightful feathered friends do seem to be right at home in your potting shed. How lovely!
Love it all!!!! ❤❤❤
Everything is always so pretty and this is so fun too. Love that seed birdhouse.
You are one of the greatest stylists on the web! There is always something beautiful everywhere you look.
Delightful!!!

you really cheered me up with your lovely, color filled tablescape. The temp is 2 and the snow is 12″ in central Va but your blog brighten my day.

Such pretty plates and lovely theming with the cold Winter weather arriving! I am still obsessing over your birdhouse feeders!

Hi Fran, Yes! I have a couple of pieces and love Carruth, I used to sell it when I had a store :)

Awesome Mary – I can just sit and stare at each photo. All are just lovely! We love our birds, don’t we!

What a fun table Mary! I used to love watching the birds in winter when I was a young girl. Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
