The witching hour is almost here and I couldn’t resist having a little spooky fun at the table . . .
Halloween is just 3 scary days away until I have to pack up my cauldron and broom for another year!
(insert *cackle* here <|;>)
I ran across these Vintage Beistle Halloween decorations, reproduced from The Beistle Company’s archives of original Halloween designs and party goods, from the 1930’s to 50’s.
These spooktacular retro images of witches, black cats and classic smiling moon from the 1950’s, provided some vintage Halloween table inspiration.
Crackled glass and smoky rimmed plates were found at HomeGoods, a favorite haunt. To conjure Halloween plates, I layered the cutouts between the clear plate and a white charger, to show off the festive orange and black Halloween graphics.
The crackled textured plate protects the cutouts while lending a spooky effect for some vintage Halloween fun!
A reproduction 1930’s Beistle tissue centerpiece with a smiling moon and quintessential scared black cat is perched on top of a set of two stacked checked and plaid metal tins.
The tins are wrapped with some black twisted vines and pinned with vintage-inspired postcards wishing you a ‘Merry Halloween’ and for a little ‘Boo’!
Black and orange glitter bottlebrush trees add a little Halloween magic and sparkle. . .
And black cat and smiling Jack figurines were conjured from the aisles at Walmart a few weeks ago.
Don’t look now, but we’re surrounded by a murder of crows, perched on pumpkins and lurking in the mums. . .
When witches go riding, and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers,‘tis near Halloween!

You had me fooled on the plates! I had to read and study those photos numerous times to make sure you didn’t modge podge those great vintage images to the plates – so very clever. I love your vintage table. The black check and plaid tins are great. We had a Halloween dinner club last night. It’s so much fun to be a kid again for the night. I’m going to do it again for dinner on Sunday for my grandchildren. I think I’ll make your buf ckick salad. Thanks for all the great ideas.

The vintage look is the best, and the tablecloth and the black vine and the little characters. Most of all, though, you pull the whole table together in ways, the rest of us could never do. I think you should do retail windows. . .it would be a feast for the eyes. Thank you.

Mary, I feel a bit “vintage” viewing this post. Those Beistle designs are straight out of my childhood. This is a fun table setting. Love the vintage designs mixed with those fabulous tins. You find the perfect touches for every table. I need to stop into Walmart on occasion. Those little pumpkin figures are adorable. Happy Halloween!

Looking at this again Mary as you did quite a “trick” on us with the vintage decoration between the plates, that sure was a great idea. Willl remember that for other events. Thank you. I really like the moon, fun to reflect on our childhood and how uncomplicated it was. I still have my Jane Jetson costume !

Mary, This is just the right amount of scary for me! My mother still has one of these honeycomb decorations from her own childhood — a pumpkin with a black cat on it. The honeycomb stays open with a tiny piece of metal which folds over the cardboard and I used to think that was so clever! I had no idea about this company though and I enjoyed looking over their website so thank you for finding such clever things for us. I think I love the little Walmart cats with their huge grins and orange hats the best of all. Don’t put your broom away — they come in handy on full moon nights too! Happy Halloween! Linda
