Playing with dishes and with food are two of my favorite things!
I came across a recipe for a make-ahead appetizer with 3 ingredients,
easy for entertaining or enjoying with a glass of wine.
And just for fun, I corralled some dishes in a grape-producing fruit crate,
ripe for the picking at an antique mall, to celebrate the grape!

Pecan and Goat Cheese Covered Grapes
Ingredients
~ Red Seedless Grapes
~ Goat Cheese (I used a mixture of half Neufchatel / half goat cheese. Boursin would be good also or soft cheese of choice)
~ Chopped Nuts, pecans, walnuts, or pistachios, I used pecans
Directions
Wash the grapes and dry thoroughly. Spoon about 2 teaspoons of the cheese mixture around each grape, rolling between your hands to coat evenly. Roll cheese-covered grapes in chopped nuts. Chill before serving.
Stack Cheese Covered Grapes in a cluster for a fun way to serve. . .
I was able to pick some grape leaves and tendrils from some
wild grapevine growing nearby for a little grape cluster fun.
Oh yes! Perfect apitizer to go with your favorite wine. This is the time of year that we start to entertain more and need good ideas. Have a great weekend! Thanks for sharing.😊🌴
They look incredibly easy to make but I’m totally lazy. I would just put out the cheese, nuts and grapes, pop the cork on the wine and let them have at it.
Oh Yes, I love your new wine crate! So fun! And the grape nibbles sound perfect for noshing. The strawberries look so tempting on the white plates and grape leaves~

What a beautiful appetizer, Mary, and I love the grapes in cluster form with the addition of the leaves and tendril. I have English Countryside as my everyday dishes. I always loved their charm and raised border. My set came with mugs and not the teacups and saucers, like yours. I still love the set after many years.
Happy Fall weekend!
I love goat cheese, and this is a great new appetizer to add to my round up. I think guests will think it is just a little cheese ball and then they will get the surprise of the juicy grape!
Mary, I’ve eaten these treats before and they ARE delish! I love the way you chose to display them, in the shape of a cluster of grapes. Your mind is Soooo creative that way.
The Mikasa English Countryside dishes are beautiful & I’m in the market for some new white dishes. I was leaning towards “French Countryside” until I saw these. Hmmmm….decisions, decisions!
Mary, I have made these and they are so delicious! I love how you clustered them and added the grapevine and leaf! Totally stealing your idea when I have to do a fruit and cheese table at a local event! :)
Oh, yes! White dishes, antique crate, and delicious bites…….what’s not to love here? Grapes are my new sweet treat since going on WW. Will add the cheese and nuts for a special treat. Thanks!
Happy Weekend……….S & S
These are delicious. One of my friends made them for my daughter’s bridesmaid shower years ago. If it is good it never goes out of style. I did love the way you put them in a cluster…very cute.
I just tried a few of these with a light cream cheese that I had on hand and boy, they are difficult to handle and coat, messy too! They are soooo cute, so I want to try again…any suggestions? You mentioned rolling between the hands, I’ll try that. And, does using goat cheese help hold the mixture together, rather than just plain cream cheese? I’ve never eaten goat cheese, not sure if I’d like it. Is it strong flavored???
Hi Linda, They are a little messy to make but worth it! Make sure your grapes are dry and roll them in your hand like you’re rolling a meatball to help cover them. Goat cheeses can vary and are tangy. It seems people usually like it or hate it but there are different varieties: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/department/article/goat-cheese
Hope that helps!
Hi Mary, A new idea for a fruit and cheese platter — all in one! The grapes look and sound delicious as I love grapes, goat cheese, and especially pecans! And the grapevines add the perfect finishing touch to the clustered yummies. These white Mikasa dishes are the ones I have. I know the Italian and French Countryside styles are very popular but these have the most wonderful white color and border. I will be back to see your older posts soon! Linda
Oh yes, this looks like a perfect Friday night snack to me! With a glass of wine of course:@) Very pretty presentation Mary-Happy Weekend!

“Giada De Laurentiis” says this was the most popular appetizer requested from her catering company.
Looks delicious, Mary! Crate is sweet too.
