Make Hay While the Sun Shines and a Blooming Monogram

DSC_8727-001

I’m making hay while the sun shines. . .

DSC_0757-002

With the daisies from my field of dreams.

The field next to my Potting Shed was sprouting daisies . . .

Until it was cut and baled this weekend.

I harvested some daisies before they disappeared.

I found a letter M from an old sign several years ago that I used as a blooming monogram . . .

DSC_8726-001

And decorated with greenery and pumpkins by my Potting Shed.

DSC_6394-001

I planted it with succulents last year but the infernal squirrels kept digging them up.

DSC_8616-001

I filled the letter with wet floral foam that I trimmed and pieced to fit and added some boxwood clippings and daisies.

And cut a bouquet of daisies to fill a watering can before they were gone.

I love daisies and had them in my wedding bouquet (actually they were daisy mums) :-) Your photos are beautiful and I love the haying photos as well. No haying here for a few weeks yet. Enjoy the day!

Reminds me of my childhood…I grew up on a farm and we had cows. I always had to help bale hay….Hard work but wonderful memories….

It’s a good thing that you were able to get some daisies to adorn your M before they disappeared! Aren’t daisies the most cheerful, happy flower? You’ve brought some cheer to me this morning with your lovely post.

Delightful, we have the daisies growing wild at the beach, I cringe when Scott mows them too… mine will make it to a tea party ;-) you are lucky living next to your field of dreams, it’s the perfect backdrop to all your cuteness.

Now this is about the cutest thing ever!! I am crazy for your blooming M Mary! And your cheery attitude! Love all the wonderful photos…infernal squirrels is a very nice way to put it! They dig up everything in our backyard! How lovely to be next to a field of daisies…

I can smell that hay, what a wonderful smell and it brings back so many memories of haying and making lunch for the “hay boys” – cake and cookies and bologna salad sandwiches and orange drink.

Love your blog!! Really look forward to it every day! You are so fortunate to live in the South where everything that grows is on steroids!! I live in arid Reno, NV., and we have such a short growing season!

    Blessings,
    Trish

Mary, I always love to see what is happening with your “M” and this daisy monogram is just so happy! When I was growing up we had a field in our back yard and every spring the wildflowers would grow and we would rush to pick them before the farmer came to cut and bale. I can still smell that fresh-cut scent of the hay. Linda
