I’m dining alfresco with Kim Parker Woodland Floral dinnerware by Mikasa.
Woodland Floral by Kim Parker for Mikasa, brings the garden to the table with the wildflower beauty of a fresh meadow on a summer day.
Colorful flowers adorn each piece of the porcelain dinnerware, blooming from the borders of the dinner plates to the interiors of the bowls and mugs.
Kim Parker, artist and entrepreneur, is the founder and creative director of her namesake lifestyle brand, and brings her signature style of modern floral art and design to the table in collaboration with Lifestyle Brands.

After searching for a tablecloth, I came back to the same one I used for last week’s table. . .
Deciding the terra cotta, blues, and greens in the paisley pattern and stylized small flowers would work with the Woodland Floral dinnerware. I added an accent of terra cotta with a woven placemat to highlight the plates, bowl and mugs.
The same plaid napkins at last week’s table are tied with wire-edged ribbon this week, and blooming with a sprig of white angelonia, snipped from a planter.
Flowers from the grocery store and garden provide a centerpiece for the table.
To arrange the centerpiece, I cut a piece of chicken wire to provide support for the flower stems in the arrangement. I placed some hosta leaves between the walls of the glass vases, with a medium size glass vase nested inside a larger one.
Gerbera daisies, asters, and zinnias from the grocery store round out the sunflowers and alstroemeria I had from my table last week. I cut some Queen Anne’s Lace, coleus, pincushion flower and abelia to add more color and variety for a garden centerpiece.
To help your flowers last in your arrangement, cut your stems at a 45 degree angle for maximum water uptake and add some floral preservative to the water, removing any foliage below the water line. If you don’t have floral preservative you can make your own to help your flowers last longer: Per 1 quart of water add 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 teaspoon household chlorine bleach. Or you use a short-cut and add some lemon-lime soda (regular, not diet) to the water.

You always come up with such nice little surprises on your tables, Mary. Those hosta leaves in the arrangement are gorgeous! I really like these dishes, and the muted tones are a perfect segue for late summer as the garden starts fading. You could have left the dishes au naturale on that table (like on your lead photo) and they would’ve been pretty, but that tablecloth looks like it was made for those dishes – wow!

Oh Kim Parker is certainly a most talented artist…beautiful design! … then you work your magic on the table and make it ever more beautiful….I often use a smaller container inside a larger container to make the arrangement fit properly, but usually do that in opaque containers…love how you used those Hosta leaves to both embellish and disguise the container inside!……Have a wonderful day Mary!

Love the dinnerware but isn’t it great to be able to reuse those beautiful tablecloths and napkins over and over again. I really like that paisley and the colors look like they could go with anything….we love dinning on our screened in porch..but right now it’s just breakfast because about dinner time it’s just too HOT!! 🌻☀️🌻☀️🌻

I forgot to say, I thought you had put a feather in the vase!!! Then I realized it was the design of the hosta leaves!!! That arrangement is beautiful and the tablecloth and napkins are perfect with this set of dishes. Have a beautiful week. Oh and is there a tree near your table as I noticed that it is partially shaded. It is a perfect spot for dining al fresco!!!!!

I love the Hosta leaves in the vase. I use Hostas quite often in bouquets when I’m short on flowers and want to fill out an arrangement. They are colorful often and texturally interesting. I love all your bouquets, and I’m going to do one tomorrow! Thanks, sandy

Mary, I’ve loved paisley since my high school years in the 70s when it came in with a bang, and I think your pairing of it with the floral plates is genius. But I also can’t take my eyes off your centerpiece. I’m glad you mentioned that some flowers came from the store because I was thinking I must move south if that’s what you can grow and bemoaning the state of my own yard which is looking quite pathetic this year! I love everything on your table including the fresh floral design on the plates and the hosta leaf idea! Linda
