Celebrate the Red, White & Boom: Berry Caprese Skewers

Celebrate the Red, White and Boom with Berry Caprese Skewers, a patriotic twist on the classic caprese! An easy appetizer for your Fourth of July celebration and healthy way to celebrate the Red, White and Blueberry!

I found patriotic party picks at Michaels for a for a little Red, White and ‘Boom’ fun for Independence Day.

No recipe needed for this easy party appetizer! Use a skewer or party pick to add your berries of choice, basil leaves and mozzarella balls (Bocconcini). I used a combination of raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. A strawberry at the end of the skewer provides the top for your edible rocket.

Serve with a drizzle of balsamic glaze on your caprese skewers for a fireworks explosion of flavor.

Balsamic glaze is easy to make and a combination of good balsamic vinegar and sugar that has been heated and reduced until it becomes a sweet and tangy syrup. If you’re short on time you can find ready-made it at the grocery store.

I purchased some party picks to decorate my patriotic tree on the porch to resemble a Fourth of July fireworks display. . .

I’ve missed visiting you, Mary, while I was in Ohio! Your patriotic caprese skewers are so adorable, and super easy! I even have some TJ’s Balsamic glaze in my pantry. Your tree on your porch is so pretty!! I’m going to be flying my flag on July 4th in honor of Independence Day, and grilling out.

We don’t live in the right area to win and as Australians we don’t celebrate 4th of July but we do celebrate Australia Day and these skewers would work just as well for us. Thanks for the idea. I really love how Americans celebrate these special days and not just see it as a chance for a free holiday. Congratulations to you Mary and all your readers who honour and celebrate these special days.
