Thanksgiving is two weeks away and in anticipation, I pulled out the my favorite Tom Turkeys!
With the countdown to turkey day underway, I’m at the table as part of a Thanksgiving Tablescape Blog Hop this week! You can find table inspiration from 20 bloggers for your Thanksgiving feast at the bottom of this post.
I pulled out an assortment of turkey plates for this table. Have a seat next to your favorite ‘Tom’!
I don’t have a complete set of any turkey pattern, I like to pick up one or two dinner plates here or there when I run across them. Autumn Monarch by Johnson Brothers Turkey plates, are rimmed with a decorative fruit and vegetable border and served up on wood chargers.

I love brown transferware and Spode Celebration Thanksgiving Turkey is a favorite gobbler! I added two dinner plates to add to my “rafter” of turkeys when I found them strutting their stuff at Tuesday Morning several years ago.
A Victorian English Pottery Thanksgiving Turkey has a blue border and can be seen at the table, here, giving thanks with warm plaid layers and pumpkins.
Royal Stafford Turkey plates have a touch of blue with fruit, flowers and wheat along the border of the plates.

The Victorian English Pottery Turkey by Edward Challinor has pretty seasonal fall border of acorn and oak leaves.

And last but not least, Queen’s by Churchill ‘Majestic Beauty’ turkey dinner plates were found for $4.99 each, about the same price as a Pumpkin Spice Latte.
And a price that may have trading your Starbucks addiction for a dish addiction instead. ;)
When I set this table on the porch to photograph this table last week, it was a comfortable 70 degrees. The mercury took a nose dive this past weekend with our first freeze and highs in the 40s, but our November weather is typically mild in North Carolina. We’ve spent many Thanksgivings eating turkey on my mother-in-law’s screened porch enjoying the warm sunshine with temps ranging from the 60s to 70s.
A proud Tom turkey provides a centerpiece for the table.
He’s leading a parade of maple leaves, Indian corn, mini pumpkins, bittersweet vine and nuts, down the center of the table for a casual and natural table runner. Mercury glass votives add a little sparkle and soft glow.
Our Thanksgiving feast is served buffet style on the kitchen island so we don’t have to leave room on the table for platters of food.
Napkins are folded to mimic a turkey fantail and placed in a burnished copper napkin ring. You can find the easy tutorial and how to create your turkey fantail napkins, here.

Mary, each plate makes me linger admiring their details. Your tablescape is lovely with so many beautiful touches. Those scalloped wooden chargers please the eye. I actually can remember as a child my grandmother having a Tom Turkey that she raised for our Thanksgiving meal. The grandchildren saw the process which I won’t go into but I still vividly remember it.

I love your Thanksgiving parade of plates! Your idea of collecting various plates to make your own unique set is brilliant and I too will follow your lead. I purchased my first plate at T J Maxx for $4.99 after your post last year, it is called, “Harvest”, by The Victorian English Pottery Est. 1819 by Edward Challinor. I love it. Your large Tom centerpiece is beautiful. I have a much smaller “young Tom”, lol, gravy boat which I have on display as well. I like to start November 1st through Thanksgiving weekend to display Thanksgiving items as I feel it is a holiday that is getting eclipsed more and more. Love the fan tail napkins, did those too! I love the plaid, so perfect for Fall and Thanksgiving…and the gourds and pumpkins down tthe center say Pilgrim Thanksgiving. What a great collection of Tom Turkeys you have, Mary! I think I’d love to claim the seat with the Royal Stafford blues, but any will do just as well, just as fine. Our freeze happened over the weekend too – enough crunch to make raking leaves all afternoon yesterday much easier than the wet muck of the days prior and those to come today and tomorrow. Have a great week.
Yes, Kari is on target! You creative genius and unique way of putting it all together always offers a table filled with exquisite details. It doesn’t get any better than dining at one of Mary’s tables any season of the year. Like you, though, I savor this season. Christmas will be here soon, but the warm earth tones of autumn make my heart sing. Your Toms are each one handsome guys. I’ve but one turkey plate, picked up at an antique market with the thought that I would add others as I found them. None others have waddled my way, but I’m still on a turkey hunt.

Mary, I absolutely love your mix and match turkey plate concept — genius! That allows have both old and new at the same table or stacked for a buffet. Every time I thought I spotted my absolute favorite plate, you shared another to-die-for dish! Whatever is a plate addict to do? Your turkey cookie jar was a lucky find. It resembles my Fitz and Floyd turkey tureen that sits out year-round on the French bakers rack.

Wow Mary this is fabulous! I admire all of the different Turkey patterned dishes you have. Your center arrangement is wonderful and I love your Tom Turkey! I used your fan napkin tutorial for my table and it’s the perfect touch! I would love to celebrate Thanksgiving in the 60-70’s! We just got about 8 inches of snow- can’t believe it!! I think it will be all melted soon though.

Always a fabulous table at Mary’s place! My turkey plates went missing this year! I thought maybe I had given them to my daughter since we are usually out of town for Thanksgiving, but she didn’t have them. I resorted to my 17 green plates with embossed turkeys for the big family dinner which we had early, but I am still perplexed as to where the turkey ones went. I love the idea of collecting different ones – makes the table more fun.
