‘Black and White with Bunnies All Over’ Easter Tablescape

Easter is less than two weeks away and in anticipation, I’m hopping down the bunny trail for an Easter Tablescape Blog Hop! You’ll find Easter table inspiration from 25 table stylists this week at the bottom of this post.

I took a departure from previous years’ Easter tablescapes and a pastel palette in favor of a table that’s different for me . . . one that’s ‘black and white with bunnies all over’!

Black and White Easter Tablescape | ©homeiswheretheboatis.net #easter #tablescapes #bunnies

The table inspiration came from a set of black and white polka dot bunny and chick salad plates purchased on clearance from MacKenzie-Childs a couple of years ago.

They’re served up on black and white striped plates and a black and white tablecloth with bunnies, that hopped in my cart at HomeGoods.

Chicks are hatching. . .

And bunnies are blooming at the table in anticipation of Easter.

To arrange the flowers and support the stems in the bunny baskets, I used a favorite flower arranging tool and method, chicken wire, as the wire is reusable.

Baskets are filled with fragrant hyacinths, speckled eggs and stems of Charmelia, known for its long-lasting vase life.

Pots of muscari, commonly known as grape hyacinths, are blooming in a tureen. . .

I recycled mini pots of the hyacinths from my Spring Bulbs and Blooms.

To make the centerpiece, I lined the tureen with plastic bags and removed the hyacinths from their plastic pots.

Green Spanish moss provides a decorative layer and filler to conceal the soil and to nestle and ‘hide’ black and white capiz eggs. Lindt mini milk chocolate chicks and bunnies provide an edible treat tucked in among the hyacinths blooms.

Our Easter celebration usually takes place at my sister-in-law’s house with extended family celebrating and eating together. We’ll be enjoying a quiet celebration at home this year to self-isolate with a mandated stay at home order through April 29th to help flatten the curve. All the more reason to do something that brings you joy, like set a pretty table, even there are only two of you dining at home!

Good morning Mary! I love that you did something a little different and it is perfect. The toile tablecloth is a lovely foundation for your black and white table. The MKC salad plates are adorable, have you used them before? I am admiring the florals, so pretty. I miss being able to purchase pretty blooms. It will definitely be a different Easter this year as we all will miss our normal celebrations. Have a joy filled day♥️

One of the things I love most about your table posts, Mary, is how you surprise with your creativity. This is very sharp in black and white. That tablecloth was just waiting for you and those plates, love them all together! The muscari centerpiece can’t be beat, that’s perfect with the eggs hidden within. The Bunny Williams rings and placemats are exceptionally nice. And I couldn’t agree more about setting a pretty table, especially now. I’m so happy you’re a part of this blog hop. Stay well!

I absolutely love your black and white Easter tablescape. I adore black and white and was going to decorate my Easter table in black and white this year as well. Unfortunately, due to COVID -19 we will be unable to entertain family this year. Thank you for sharing – I look forward to your daily inspiration!

Oh, Mary, it is always a delight to stop by! I actually had to get up from my desk and go check my linen closet…I bought the same tablecloth and napkins this year, and didn’t even realize there were bunnies on them! I guess I may be saving them for the future! I also have those same dinner plates! I guess great minds think alike. Now, those MacKenzie Childs egg-shaped dishes are fabulous! You inspire me to do a better job of styling! Happy Easter, please stay well and stay safe.

Mary, Your tablecloth is gorgeous! Love it! The black and white Easter table is so pretty and your dishes, especially the egg shaped ones are perfect. Your tureen arrangement with the foil wrapped candy and capiz eggs just completes a wonderful Easter table! The larger bunny floral arrangements really add a pop of color! I’m missing visiting HomeGoods and there’s no cure for that! ;) This wonderful tablescape has eased yearning!☺️ Take care and stay safe! Clara ♥️

Wow’ I would have never thought of using black and white for Easter, but it works beautiful with the white bunnies. All the beautiful colors in your flowers in your centerpiece play off the black and white dishes. Love that tablecloth too. Have a safe Easter. I think our celebrations this year will be small, but our hearts will be full.

I am a huge fan of black and white and it is perfect for any occasion! Love the unique Easter egg plates paired with the pretty striped dinner plates with the sweet bunny tablecloth and napkins ❤️ The blooming tureen with eggs and chocolate treats is just too cute! Of course your white ceramic bunny is darling with his blooms and eggs. Yes, Easter will be different this year, but this time of isolation is a wonderful chance to enjoy the little things and be grateful. I know you will get plenty of love from your adorable fur bunnies! 🐾🐾

  33. March 31, 2020 at 4:55 pm

Hi Mary, What a lovely twist on an Easter table….both classic and whimsy. I certainly enjoy the different use of colors than the pastels at Easter. The bold black and white is a a great statement, especially when it is paired up with the lovely lavender colors in your floral. I am very fond of McKenzie Childs line and they work so beautifully with your tablescape. I always enjoy your work and always enjoy blog hopping with you. Stay safe, healthy and have a cozy Easter.

Mary, I absolutely love the black and white elements of your fabulous Easter tablescape — and oh, how I lust for that tablecloth! So many wonderful details that make it such a special setting. I especially like your pairing the white rattan chargers with the MC dishes, and the napkins with the vintage-looking silver rings. Hopefully by Easter we can celebrate seeing an end to this ordeal. Wishing you a healthy April and happy Easter holiday.

  36. March 31, 2020 at 5:18 pm

Mary, such a delightful table with black and white. I have those egg shaped MK plates too. Loving the dinner plates, I might have missed out on those. The pots of muscari is lovely. Loving the tureen all decked out and added capiz eggs. The toile tablecloth is so perfect with the dishes. You never disappoint. I admire your creativity. always a pleasure mary joining you on these fun hops.

Grape hyacinths are one of my favorite Spring flowers, and I love how you arranged them in the ironstone tureen with the chocolate chicks and bunnies. Another beautiful table, Mary. Happy Easter!
