Happy Saturday!

Here’s a little weekend waterview from Lake Norman.

We’re happy to be boating again after a fuel line issue. We were almost boating in May,

but like a lot of things these days, parts and service are harder to come by!

We enjoyed a little boating time over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

My heart beats red, white and blue so I love seeing boats on the water flying the flag.

Especially when the flag is as big as the boat. :)

We always enjoy checking out the osprey nests by boat on the lake.

Osprey pairs are generally monogamous and will mate for life, returning

to their same nest site after wintering in Central and South America.

There is always a nesting pair of osprey on this duck blind year after year.

“Our” Great Blue Heron is a year round resident . . .

And spends most days fishing from the boat lift and dock.

Lola says sitting in the Captain’s chair is her favorite spot when

she’s not ‘on lookout’ making sure we know where we’re going.

Sophie enjoys the early morning sunshine and breeze generated by the pontoon.

They both agree that early morning naps on the boat are the best!

Hope you’re finding a way to beat the heat this weekend. ♥

Now know…I’m using “that one,”…”My Heart Beats Red, Whit & Blue!!!” SAME!! Tell me about “parts”…we have been w/o A/C since middle of May!! No TRANE coil in USA & no manufacturing plant in full operation…can’t get help…so far we’ve been “band aiding” w/refrigerant shots. Move over Lola…I need a nap. Luv your photos! franki

Two questions: Do your osprey return on the same date each year? Here at the top of Chesapeake Bay they arrive on March 17. Question two: Do the osprey and blue heron engage in raucous battles over fish and property boundaries?

I needed this, 108 degrees for days, so wish I lived on a lake! You all look happy and refreshed, glad you’re back on the water again!

  18. July 10, 2021 at 7:43 pm

Mary, your water view posts take me back to our own long ago days on the lake. We often looked at lake property in those days, and sometimes I wish we had moved out to the lake. Waking up to a water view, watching the sunsets across the water, and boating are wonderful perks of lake living. I’m appreciative that you share. Have a great weekend.

You had a lake and no working boat, we have a working boat and no water (and it’s 111 outside today)! Glad that you’re able to return to the water and share some great photos! Nothing is more relaxing, or clears the mind, better than a day on the lake. I’m sure your dogs would agree!

I know having the boat repaired makes you all happy. Beautiful views! Happy Sunday, Mary!

  22. July 11, 2021 at 8:46 am

AWESOME pics! Do the Osprey buzz you when you get close to their nest? Also, does someone clean that duck blind off after the Ospreys leave for the winter or do they just leave the nest and use it next year? NOTE: a cousin of mine was instrumental in the creation of the Osprey plane! Whenever I see anything about an Osprey, I think about that and how we both love the bird and the plane!!

I know you are happy to be back on the water! This has been a cooler and rainier summer than I can remember, but on the coast it’s showers one minute and sunshine the next…I love watching ospreys and herons, but since the hurricane last fall I haven’t seen any! I sure miss our Freddy…I too love seeing big flags on boats, and dogs! The girls look adorable on the patriotic towels~ Happy boating!

Mary, thanks for the beautiful pictures featuring our proud flag and your darling girls. It’s clear they are right at home and relaxed as long as they’re with you and your husband. Such sweet girls – and a bit wooly which only makes them more adorable.
Also, the shots you captured of the birds are impressive! Thanks for the good information about them.

Those flags are truly a wonderful sight to see on the lake…I am in awe of the beautiful birds and wildlife that you capture…so happy you and the girls (and of captain) are enjoying that beautiful lake on a most beautiful day…

I totally agree with you about the joy of seeing boats flying the flag. There’s just something special about those red, white, and blue colors out on the water, especially on a beautiful weekend like this one. It’s a reminder of the freedom and fun that comes with boating.
