Whooooooo besides me is ready for Fall?

Regular readers know that Autumn is my favorite season and I’m counting down the days until its arrival. . . ready for crisp, cool weather, a harvest of pumpkins, warm plaid layers, and cozy meals with the flavors of fall!

While Mother Nature still has plenty of summer weather in store for us in North Carolina, we’ve enjoyed a welcome teaser of fall weather this past week with lower humidity and temperatures in the 70s and 80s!

I’m welcoming Autumn at the table with a whimsical woodland-inspired tablescape that combines rustic textures, harvest plaid, and playful woodland animal friends. My goal was to create a tablescape that’s colorful, welcoming, as well as a little whimsical!

A harvest border print tablecloth has scattered leaves on a plum background and features pumpkins, Indian corn and sunflowers, providing a colorful foundation for our table and nod to autumn’s rich colors.

For my centerpiece, I started with a trio of jute wrapped pumpkins. I wove plaid ribbon through the jute “ribs” of the pumpkins, to pair with assorted harvest plaid plates that frame the woodland friends plates.

In addition to my pumpkins, I used a combination of faux and natural materials to create an easy-to-assemble table runner you can pull together in 10 minutes!

For the natural elements, Chaste tree seed pods join Indian corn bundles, tied together with burlap ribbon to flank each end of the table.

Wooden acorns and large faux sunflowers, chosen to match the border of the tablecloth, were popped off their stems (they pop right back on to use later) . . .

The scale of the sunflowers is large by comparison to the pumpkins, adding to the whimsy of the table! 🌻

Good morning, Mary. I’m drinking my tea while it’s currently 57°, enjoying all the fall details of your table! The way you created the table runner looks amazing, something that could remain on the table long after the place settings were struck. Those tricked out oumpkins are super. The place settings are both classy and whimsical. I thought the dinner plates looked like WS (miss Pier1!!). Your mixed stack looks great, and I’m partial to the owls and fox, so cute. Love the flatware and napkins together with the base cloth. You’ve got the gift (one of many) of super styling. Thank you for sharing and showcasing your talent in this blog hop!

One can not help but think of Fall when looking at your beautiful table Mary….no matter the temp. I also have the woodland animal dinnerware set and love the sweet little animals. Your centerpiece adds to the table and as usual you provide such wonderful instructions for your DIY. The results are amazing. Hopefully the weather in your neck of the woods cools off considerably as we all know how fickle it can be. Always a pleasure to blog hop with you. Happy September!🐇🦉🦇🐿️🍁🍂🪴🌻🍎🏈

I just love your table scape and especially your pumpkins, you are so creative🙂, one question I do have; the ribbon being on the pumpkin candle holders would you not have to be concerned about catching fire?

    • September 2, 2025 at 7:55 am

Thank you Christie! The candles are flameless (battery operated) so no risk of fire. They look very realistic and came from Hobby Lobby. 🍂🍁🧡

Mary, your fall table with the woodland animals plates and special touches of acorns, pumpkins, and fall leaves certainly increases my own anticipation for autumn. It’s my favorite season as well! The bone handled flatware is a perfect touch. I always like an organic touch when available. The faux bois chargers, the Mud Pie acorn napkin rings, and that twig flatware are the added details that create the perfect autumn feel. Well done! Happy Autumn, Mary!

Good morning, Mary! I love your whimsical woodland inspired table! The plum background of your tablecloth with its harvest border of pumpkins, corn, and leaves is so pretty. The jute wrapped trio of pumpkins and combination of faux and natural materials creates a perfect fall runner that would also look great on a wood tabletop! I also have the adorable animal plates and you have framed them beautifully with the harvest plaid plates and the faux bois chargers. The jute placemats add texture to your woodland setting and bone handled flatware and amber stemware add the finishing touches to your gorgeous table.

I always enjoy visiting one of your creative tabletops! Happy Autumn!

What a warm and inviting fall table Mary! I love those woodland animal plates. So cute! Great idea to weave the ribbon into the jute pumpkins. The entire “centrepiece” is wonderful. Mary, I love the forest animal china. We have so many of those little animals around our home. It’s perfect for fall. So many beautiful details. I really appreciate your sharing the details of making a pretty floral arrangement for the table. It looks so nice and with your help, I think I can make one too!! Your table says “Welcome Fall!” in such a sweet way Mary, with those adorable woodland animal plates! The Jute pumpkins are really cute too, such a great idea to weave the plaid ribbon in/around them. At first I was worried about the candles, then read they are flameless~they look so real! The Fall centerpiece looks wonderful going down the center of your table with the sunflowers and wood acorns. Your table would convert any Summer lover to get excited about Fall!

Beautiful as always, Mary! You always amaze. I haven’t even started to think about Fall! I’ll let the weather tell me when !
Thank you for your continued inspiration!

You sure tricked me, Mary, as I was thinking, why would Mary put real flames under those pumpkins!! Those flames on the candles really look so real! lol!! I love how you decked the jute pumpkins with some pretty ribbon. Your centerpiece is so easy and does great with your whimsical plates. I think I’ll try that type of centerpiece for my kitchen table as I’m all about the faux 😊 Thank you for your lovely inspirational table.

Mary, your woodland table is darling. I love the rustic look with harvest plaid, and playful woodland animal friends. I have the plates with owls I used last year. The plum tablecloth makes for a striking look. The table runner you created with natural elements and jute pumpkins is lovely. Such a cute diy project and the flame looks real. I have those same jute placemats from Target. Love the photo seeing the natural table runner your created. with the jute pumpkins, acorns, and faux sunflowers Happy September. Always a pleasure joining you.

Mary, your welcome fall table is beautiful! The CI woodland salad plates are adorable and of course I love the harvest plaid dinner plates ❤❤. The plates look great on the faux bois charger and jute placemat. The natural table runner is so pretty on the plum tablecloth and I love how you dressed the pumpkins with ribbon. I like that the sunflowers in the runner are “oversized” – it just adds to the charm, and the wooden acorns are darling. You always inspire and thank you for that. It was a pleasure to join you today and happy favorite season to you!

Mary, I love your fall table! The tablecloth is beautiful as is the centerpiece. The woodland salad plates are a favorite! I’m ready to put the hot temps behind us but we’re in for a few more weeks of heat. We’ve had lower humidity so that has really helped tremendously! I’m taking inspiration from the fall tables as I need to change our tables and mantel to fall soon. Take care. Clara ❤️

Mary, your table sings fall to me! The woodland animals are what I expect to see on a nice fall walk in the park with the leaves all turning such fabulous colors, just like your table. I love the plaid plates from Pier 1, I remember those and am so bummed I never made the big purchase!! Your cute jute pumpkins with the candles make a great centerpiece and I love how you filled in the runner with all natural fall elements. Such a beautiful way to celebrate the season! It is always a pleasure to hop with you!! Enjoy your fall!!🧡🍂🍁

Good Morning, Mary. As you can see, I am a tad late. Many family visits keep me busy, but my heart is full!
Your gorgeous table has all the perfect colors to welcome Fall. Your woodland animals on your dinnerware are darling. But it’s the pumpkins for me! You turned them into a darling centerpiece! I love them!
Your table is colorful and soothing. What a lovely combination.
Thank you for the motivation to embellish my tables for fall.
    Happy September, my friend!

Mary you never disappoint! I LOVE your Fall tablescape! I really like the plum color with all the ambers, oranges and Fall hues! The pumpkin hack is so clever and the animal plates stole my heart. Thank you again for a smile on my face and delightful Fall ideas with my morning coffee!

  25. September 3, 2025 at 10:56 am

Forest friends are always welcome at a fall table and yours would make them feel right at home. The rich tones of your tablecloth create a wonderful base for the neutral placemats and allow the friendly visitors to shine in the fun dessert plates. My favorite thing on the table was the line of pumpkins laced with ribbon that you created. It definitely draws the eye and helps bring the colors together. Adding simple natural elements to the runner makes for a very easy and interesting runner. I may “borrow” this idea for a table of my own. This was a lovely table to welcome all things Fall.

Wow, this tablescape is absolutely stunning, so much inspiration here! Perfect timing too, since I’m stuck waiting for my upholstery cleaners to finish and dreaming of how I can decorate for fall. Maybe I’ll start with some woodland-themed touches like those adorable plates!

Mary, I love the return of fall colors and those cute woodland animals! The garland you devised that runs down the center of the table has a perfect combination of naturalistic elements. Their disparate proportions add an extra dash of whimsy! I love the patterns and textures in the plate stack, starting with the jute placemats and faux wood chargers. The whole effect is warm and cozy, perfect for cool autumn evenings. Happy Fall!
