This highly addictive sweet & salty mix is quick and easy to throw together, using popcorn, candy coating or almond bark, and your favorite combination of pretzels, nuts and candy. Since it’s a bunny trail mix, Bunny Mix M&M’s and Annie’s Bunny Grahams are a fun Easter addition!
You can use almond bark, white chocolate chips, or candy melts. I like CandiQuik (found on the baking aisle) for the convenience of the blocks of bark and the microwave disposable tray.
No recipe required for this sweet and salty treat!
Pop your corn using your preferred method and mix with your candy coating. As a guideline, for 5 – 6 cups of popcorn I use a 16 ounce package of candy coating/ almond bark. You can adjust your candy coating-to-popcorn ratio to your taste.
Melt candy coating according to package directions and toss in a large bowl with your popcorn. Mix until coated and spread popcorn on wax paper or parchment lined baking sheet(s) to cool and set.
Sprinkle some Easter or spring-colored nonpareils on the white chocolate-coated popcorn while the candy coating is still warm.
Once your popcorn is set (about 15- 20 minutes), break into pieces. Stir in nuts, pretzels and candy of choice.
The bunny and egg picks are part of an Easter cupcake kit I found at HomeGoods from Meri Meri for $6.99.
Serve your Bunny Trail Mix in snack cups or package up in treat bags for gift giving. It makes a fun treat to serve for a neighborhood or family Easter Egg Hunt!
Store the remainder in an airtight container or jar and enjoy! You can adjust this blend for any holiday or occasion.
The bunny picks are adorable, how cute they look adorning the Easter mix! Adding nonpariels to the chocolate is such a fun touch! The egg cups are just the perfect size and a big jar of this in the kitchen would make me very popular!
