DSC_3424-001

I’m weighing in on Ball Jar Love and the introduction of Purple Heritage Collection Ball Jars!

DSC_3466-002

I find myself craving color and flowers and in need of a little pick-me-up when it’s cold and gray this time of year.

DSC_3468-001

Purple Heritage Collection Ball Jars provide a little bliss and are just what the doctor ordered for the Punxsutawney Blues and 6 more weeks of winter!

DSC_3398-001

These purple jars are the last in the 3 year series of Heritage Collection Jars. 2013 marked the 100th anniversary of the development of a series of jars, designed by the Ball brothers, each intended to be better than the one before.

DSC_3392-001

1913 saw the launch of the first true “Perfect Mason” jar, followed in 1914 by the “PERFECTION”, then the “IMPROVED” introduction in 1915.

DSC_3440-001

These limited edition Purple Heritage Collection Jars feature period-inspired purple color and embossed logos on front and back.

DSC_3463-001

I filled my jars with flowers for an early spring bloom in my Potting Shed.

Such a romantic color! Love your scattering of bulbs too Mary! I’d probably split them up and use them for a little bit of everything… The purple would have perked up my light colored banana jam, they make gorgeous vases and I can see them holding all kinds of crafting supplies in the studio! Thanks for the fun give-away and pretty pick-me-up on a wet, wintery mix morning:@)

This post made MY day! Stock is one of my favorite flowers – such a delightful fragrance – and these are really beautiful. And I love the purple and white plate, the little embossed metal pitcher and the vintage spoon with the “garden on” inscription. The entire post is lovely and a real day-brightener! The purple jars are beautiful, too. I would use them for my homemade blackberry jam. (I am down to the last jar of the 2014 batch and plan to give it to my son for Valentine’s Day.) I follow you via email and will post this on facebook. Have a blessed day!

Mary, I already have my purple jars filled with forced spring flowers–yellow daffs and white tulips, hoping to chase away the winter blues here too! They look nice with the last two years of jars and I’m planning to use them all for an Easter table. I was sad to hear there will only be the three years of special colors! I hoped they would continue. Love your purple transferware :) Linda

The rest I would use for the original purpose and put homemade pear preserves in them. I do this project each year with my Dad using pears from a tree that has been on the family farm for more than 100 years! Thanks for the give away.

Every 3 months or so I have a special dinner party for a group of prior co-workers. These ladies are so special that I make every effort to make each party memorable. I think about my spring celebration last year and these jars would have been the perfect addition to my tablescape. ( I would love to share a picture). My dining room is a regal purple and I can envision using these for flowers from my garden such as lilacs, lavender, purple balloon flowers, hydrangeas and the list goes on. They would be a beautiful vessel to showcase and share.

Purple is the color for survivors and as the Event Chair, I’m always looking for ways to motivate my teams. Also, purple is the color for our local high school…oh the possibilities are endless. Thanks for the contest.

These canning jars are gorgeous, if canning jars can be?! I love canning and making my special hot pepper relish so I guess I would fill the jars with my homemade delight and share with family, neighbors and friends…but hide one away just for me :)
By the way, I made your beautiful cardamom and pear loaf yesterday and it was wonderful! the whole pears surprised everyone and they loved every bite. It’s a great recipe and I will definitely be using more cardamom in the future.
Thanks for all you do, your website is a joy to visit.

I would use these to hold home made raisins, dehydrated from our Red Reliance grapes, & I would put one of the ceramic coated “grape” rings from the collection of fancy lids Ball put out 10-15 years ago on top. They look beautiful together, & pretty enough to leave the jar on the counter as a decorative accent, filled with yummy goodness.

I just made purple fascinators for my friends and me to wear to the Downton Abbey exhibit at Wintethur and a purple ball jar would be perfect to use for displaying them. So I would give each of my friends one of the jars and use one of them myself to display my fascinator.

I have a beautiful set of dishes – service for eight of Pastoral Davenport-Amethyst by Arthur J Wilkinson – Transferware. These were purchased three years ago at the Brimfield Antique Show in Massachusetts. The dishes were displayed in a wooden hutch in a very dark shop but I was blessed enough to have found them. They have a farming pattern. The dinner dishes are different from the soup bowls, dessert bowls have their own pattern, etc. I believe they date back to 1840. Truly a find! I just found amethyst candlesticks to go with the set in the Verona Virginia Antique Mall and I have Amethyst goblets from William Sonoma which I have had for a while. Your lovely jars would go at each place setting – with some raffia around them, supporting a miniature rake to compliment the pattern – and inside each jar I would place the lavender napkins and silver eating utensils. PLEASE – PICK ME! PICK ME!

  126. February 9, 2015 at 11:40 am

PICK ME! PICK ME! PICK ME! Can you see me stretching my neck, arm & hand held as high as I can (hand wiggling for attention)? Purple was my Mother’s favorite color. Anything that reminds me of my Mother in any way is dear to me. These limited edition purple Mason jars could have multiple uses (as I read the posts above, got even more ideas) and every time they caught my eye, my Mother would most certainly come to mind & heart. Thank you for your blog with its great ideas & inspiration; I read it daily. Happy Monday!

  127. February 9, 2015 at 11:43 am

The potting shed is such an inspiration! I will use the purple ball jars in my bathroom for storage, in my kitchen for flowers, and in my sewing room for buttons….And will bring a couple to my daughter, since purple is my grandson’s favorite color.

  128. February 9, 2015 at 11:46 am

We have a small lavender farm and I have already been dreaming of these beautiful jars! I could also see them in my spring decor along with the blue and green Ball jars filled with small eggs or jelly beans. I have been an email follower of yours for quite a while now, and love your blog :) Happy to share the giveaway on Facebook with my friends as well :) Today’s blog is especially inspiring towards spring as it is pouring snow outside – thanks — I can almost smell the green grass and flowers Hugs, Dorinda

Mary, the purple jars are perfect for spring, and their early arrival in the potting shed offers the hope of spring. ‘-)
I wish for a real visit some day. Your potting shed is full of interest. My eyes study every detail. Crushing on that vintage silver pitcher among other delights. You amaze me with your creative styling……the sprouting bulbs, vintage pieces, and fresh flowers. This post is most certainly a breath of spring!
I would use those darling jars to hold flowers…..Texas wildflowers or wisteria blooms.

What a pretty color, Purple!!! I would, of course, display those beautiful herbs and flowers from the home garden. What a perfect color for Spring and Summer. I have a spice rack, large cabinet with my dried herbs. I use the old blue, green jars for storing those herbs. A purple one or two would be great in that cabinet. :) And flowers (yellow daffodils) in the bay window at Easter, can just see them sparkling in the sun light!!! Hope I win!!!

OMG Mary, these are gorgeous. I gasped when I opened my email and saw these purple jars. I didn’t think Ball could out-do the Blue Jars, which I have a few of, but now I see they did out-do themselves. I love this color it so pretty, unusual and classey! If I were one of the lucky winners, I would definately display them with flowers. I would also share a couple with my daughter who has been trying to collect all things purple in her kitchen. I follow you on facebook also and I usually read your posts more than once so that I don’t miss any detail in any of your pictures! You are such an inspiration and I look forward to every post. Hugs to you and thank you for such a great give away!

One jar would join the rest of my collection which is proudly displayed on the thorp of my kitchen cupboards. There are vintage bail jars with glass tops, vintage jars of different sizes and colors with zinc lids lined with ceramic, quilted jars and the newer blue and green heritage jars. Everything from teeny jars right up to gallon size. A lot of these were given to me by an aunt who canned her farm veggies and fruits back in the 40s then passed them on to me to can my garden with them in the 70s & 80s.

I love mason jars. Didn’t know about the Heritage collection until now; I must live under a rock! I would do the flowers; yours are perfect as I love stock-so old fashioned & fragrant. I might have to stop at TJ’s on my way home from work tomorrow to see if they have any at my location. Thanks for sharing; I love your pooches and your blog !!!

First I love what you do. I find that I can revisit your site and see something that I missed the first, second, or third look. I would love these jars. First, one would become a “tea” jar, as I need hot tea all the time in this icy, snowy weather.
Imagine having that bit of cheerfulness along on my school bus as we make our way thru snow covered roads. Would share with my daughter who is a Ball jar maniac…..ending up with fairy lights, or bath salts, or flowers. 30 years ago mother gave me a bunch of transfer ware plates…mostly blue and white….but, one plum one as tucked in the group and I have rarely used it, Now I see your idea of displaying with the purple ball jar perhaps with white lilacs.. Would so love to win……just like everyone else! :)
