Summer Peach Tea Punch, recipe courtesy Southern Living

Makes 1 gallon

Ingredients

3 family-size tea bags
2 cups loosely packed fresh mint leaves
1 (33.8-oz.) bottle peach nectar
1/2 (12-oz.) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
1/2 cup Simple Sugar Syrup
1 (1-liter) bottle ginger ale, chilled
1 (1-liter) bottle club soda, chilled
Garnish: fresh peach slices, mint, and/ or lemons

DSC_3515-002

Directions

Bring 4 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan; add tea bags and mint leaves. Boil 1 minute; remove from heat. Cover and steep 10 minutes.
Discard tea bags and mint. Pour into a 1-gal. container; add peach nectar, lemonade concentrate, and Simple Sugar Syrup. Cover and chill 8 to 24 hours.
Pour chilled tea mixture into a punch bowl or pitcher. Stir in ginger ale and club soda just before serving.

To make a cocktail version of this punch, add a combination of Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka and Peach Schnapps or Firefly Peach Tea Flavored Vodka.  A general guideline for mixing a cocktail punch is 1 part alcohol to 3 parts mixer, but use the ratio you prefer for your crowd. You can find a printable recipe, here.

For your summer entertaining, I’m giving away a Pfaltzgraff Ribbed Glass Beverage Dispenser with Metal Stand, 4 Quattro Stagioni Canning Jars and a Mary Lake-Thompson flour sack towel with Bee Skep design, to one winner.

I’m a bee and jar lover so these Italian Quattro Stagioni Canning Jars have double the appeal! The 17 ounce jars come in a pack of 4 with lids and are designed for canning. I’ve had a set I’ve used for a couple of years at the table with flowers and for sipping. I picked up another set to give away when I was buzzing around HomeGoods a couple of weeks ago.

I love the embossed bee skep design, bees and butterflies on the jars, ideal for a just-picked bouquet from the garden!

I’m not sure if my favorite flower is late spring or early summer but it is definitely the Peony. Every year I wait for those beautiful blooms and heavenly scent. What could say time for warmth more so than that gorgeous flower?

My favorite flower is hydrangea which always bring back memories to me of my grandmother who loved them (amd my grandfather who would sit on the porch swing and spit out his tobacco juice onto them, thus raising the ire of my grandmother!) I used hydrangea in my daugters’weddings and now, having just retired from twenty-five years of teaching, I get to enjoy gardening and these lovely flowers even more!)

I am about to move to a house with a pond view and guess what, it has a Garden Shed!! I am so excited. This Giveaway would certainly make a great addition to the Garden Shed and the late summer house warming gathering I am planning! Thank You!

My favorite drink is water. It has to be because I can no longer have the sweet tea I miss so much. Sometimes I just have the unsweetened tea and pretend it is the sweet tea of my youth. The recipe for the peach tea has made my mouth water!!! I may have to make some anyway just so I can smell it and have a tiny sip. I loved the presentation in the bee hive shaped dispenser with the lemons and surrounded by peaches. This is summer at its most nostalgic and best!
And whatever flower a bee kisses is my favorite flower!

Peonies for me too! The house I grew up in (built in 1865), had white ones that grew in the back yard. They were huge doubles, with pink centers. My mother said they were there when she married my father, and my father said they were there when my grandparents bought the house! When my parents passed away, and we had to sell the house, I dug up the peonies, and transplanted them in my yard. I didn’t think they would make it, since it was early Nov. They have bloomed every year for the past 13 years. They smell like a bit of heaven, and remind me of home.
Favorite drink is ice tea. I have always had it year round. I just love it.

I really like a white sangria on a summer evening. I’m enjoying my cone flowers this year…I have several varieties. The bees and butterflies are liking them too. I planted more of them this time because of the decrease in bee and butterfly populations. So enjoy your blog.

Hi Mary, my favorite summer drink is my Raspberry Ice Tea. Since the tea is pretty pricey, I only make it for my Garden Club and luncheons..my favorite summer flower is Red Zinnias. I plant lots..I love your display with the honey jars and the woven bee hives and those beautiful towels. I have one of those woven hives but I’m thinking of painting it red because it’s starting to look bad from being outside. I subscribe by email and Facebook..and look forward to your post everyday! My favorite flower is planted every year in a very small back yard- I fill the whole corner with purple cosmos (Color Purple). When I start to feel sorry for myself living in the smallest house in America I put a chair in the back and am totally mesmerized by Gods beauty, leaving me to feel quite guilty for not appreciating all that I have. So, Cosmos is Gods way of reminding me eh.

My favorite summer flower is the Black- eyed Susan or Rudbeckia. The bright yellow flowers with dark centers just say summer to me. They do well in hot, dry summers and look great in my wildflower bouquets with Queen Anne’s Lace, and Purple Clover. I used to gather these bouquets as a child in the fields near my house in the country and
give them to my grandma. These bouquets were always well received by my grandma who would put them in a
Mason jar vase on the kitchen table for all to enjoy!

Good morning! I love starting my mornings with your emails. My favorite summer flower is the hydrangea – I remember my grandmother putting pennies in the soil to make the beautiful purple-blue colors. My favorite summer drink is Sangria – any type. It is so refreshing and I love it’s versatility.

  46. July 15, 2015 at 8:23 am

Thank you so much for all of your lovely posts/creative ideas. I look forward to seeing them nearly every day. These are usually the first things I open in my email in the mornings. Hydrangeas and lily-of-the-Nile are without a doubt my very favorite late spring/summer flowers. Our intense heat here has shut them down for now, but they were blooming non-stop beginning in May. Decaf green tea would be my favorite summer drink…think I’ll add some fresh peaches to that….(sharing on FB)

Love, love, love Larkspur, so much so, my camp name was lark! Summer drink of choice, naturally ice tea with lemon and fresh mint with a touch of honey. I don’t remember a time when ice tea was not served. My grandmother had little crochet glass covers and long handled glass spoons. We would all sit under the big olk tree in the side yard with our ice tea and German deep butter cake and my father would share the time when he bent this enormous tree over to the ground.

Choosing a favorite flower is so difficult. It seems as though which ever flower has just burst into bloom is my favorite of the day , or month. However the one flower that stays with me throughout the summer is lavender. It is one of the most versatile flower with so many uses. I cut them to put in a small vase, or make lavender wands and sachets to give to friends. Lavender butter goes great with freshly baked Lemon lavender bread, while sipping a tall glass of iced Lavender Lemonade on the patio on a lazy afternoon. I subscribe to your daily posts by email and facebook, and have recently turned some of my friends onto your website for so much inspiration. I grew up and live in York, Pennsylvania which was the home of the original Pfaltzgraff factory and awesome seconds store. I started visiting the seconds store when I was about 18, searching for through wooden crates to find an almost perfect pieces to begin filling my hope chest in preparation for “setting up a home”. I started with the Yorktowne pattern and it is still one of my favorites. Have a blessed day!

Hydrangeas are one of my favorites. They are all in bloom here in my yard now, beautiful colors.

  65. July 15, 2015 at 9:27 am

we moved from a house with huge gardens, to a tiny cottage on an island with two beauty-bark covered postage-stamp sized areas devoid of anything, pots with old soil that wouldn’t even grow moss and deer that roamed my yard daily. quite a challenge. we moved some things from my old garden….what we could at any rate. the peonies we dug up moped for an entire season before bouncing back the next spring, happy for the continuous dose of sunshine they got in this new space. i brought over sedum, monarda, rudbeckia, baby tears, my lavender, sage and rosemary, shasta daisies, hydrangeas and hosts and day lilies to plant in the spaces. they are thriving now…big and beautiful and happily the deer don’t touch them. i have a porch garden with hydrangeas and sedum and english roses, because the deer do love those. as far a favorite flower, my first nod would be to the peonies, but i have planted bearded iris, crocosmia, agapanthus, angel trumpet and sea holly as well as hollyhocks. i cannot choose a single favorite because i love them all. the foxglove and the perennial foxglove are other favorites. lily of the valley? sigh…it’s just too hard to choose.
my favorite drink? making smoothies and slushes with my grandlings and slurping them on a hot afternoon or evening. thank you for this generous giveaway…you set me drooling with every single thing!

Beautiful setting for a glass of punch! I love all flowers, especially daisies. Generous giveaway, count me in please!

  73. July 15, 2015 at 9:57 am

My favorite summertime flower is the hydrangea. I love the everlasting variety because it blooms all summer and thus allows me to cut blossoms for many vases. Yesterday I found a variegated variety that I had never seen before. Now I will enjoy beautiful blossoms and beautiful leaves.

Your are a fantastic stylist! I adore your potting shed and this vignette! What a lovely giveaway! I, too, love Mary Lake Thompson towels! Hydrangeas and plain Jane unsweetened iced tea are my favorites- Thanks for hosting!

  78. July 15, 2015 at 10:09 am

I have incredible luck with Zinnias, so they would be my favorite summer flower. They attract goldfinches as well, but those darling birds do tend to like to eat the zinnia seeds, and to get to them they very patiently pluck every petal off of each flower. Your tea punch looks delicious, the bee skep dispenser wonderful, but those canning jars really call my name because I love using them for all sorts of things. I’m a huge fan of Mary Thompson towels, the recipe ones in particular.

Mary, I love all of your posts, but this one really makes me happy. Brings back so many memories of growing up and family. We had a family fried who was a bee keeper and my dad would bring home a huge comb for us to get the honey from and to chew on. How delicious! My favorite flowers are the old fashioned ones… blue morning glories that grew all over the farm around us, gardenias that make my Mom so happy, colorful zinnias that grew on the first row of our vegetable garden and made our house so festive, and gladiolas that made huge, colorful sprays on the alter at church all summer! My favorite summer drink is strawberry daiquiris!

  83. July 15, 2015 at 10:24 am

What a bee…utiful display, Mary! Here on our tiny lavender farm in Boring, Oregon at this time of year I have to admit that my favorite flowers are the bright Buena Vista lavender blooms. Right now the fields are constantly buzzing with bees and at the end of an afternoon cutting lavender bundles in our record heat I love to sip lavender lemonade! I subscribe by email and follow you on Facebook too…always telling by friends to look you up as your posts always add a bright spot to my mornings! I just shared your post on FB…thank you for the opportunity to win such a lovely gift set!

Your question is simple, yet very thought provoking. Why would one flower rise above all others and reign supreme in my estimation? Right off the top of my head I can say that in these graceless times, one of the things that soothes and replenishes my soul is my gentle, faithful perennial garden. It always comes back and brings me even more abundant flowers and fragrance, year after year. I love them all.

But what would make me favor one more than the others? Beauty? Fragrance? Color? I imagine them in arrangements. They all look wonderful. Then in my mind’s eye I see my large cut-crystal rose bowl covered in open, multi-petaled,effortlessly elegant, old fashioned garden roses. I remember their heady aroma filling the room. Jacques Cartier, Madame Isaac Pereire, Mrs. John Lang – even their names are beautiful. Roses. Roses must be my favorite, even though I feel disloyal to all my other flowers in saying so. So sorry, Limelight Hydrangeas! You are gorgeous, showy and offer a variety of seasonal color, but you lack fragrance…

As for my favorite beverage? Water! Water with lime, cucumber, basil – anything that I happen to have on hand – and lots and lots of ice.

What fun! Your window box just looks more beautiful each time it is shown. I love the drink dispenser and thank you for a chance to win one. On an every day basis my favorite drink is unsweetened ice tea. However I’m hanging on to your Southern Living recipe here for a gathering of friends. We live in farm country so we have an abundance of bees in our garden. A few summers in a row we had an abundance of bumble bees! Gardening during those summers became hazardous duty! Of the flowers we can grow here at 4,000 feet elevation I I would have to say roses and peonies are my favorites. We mostly plant inexpensive annuals because most more expensive perennials don’t make it through our cold winters. Thanks for posting the beautiful pictures of the flowers in your yard.

Thank you for such a fun give away Mary. My favorite flowers are roses, they shine even in this heat. The deer love them as much as I do, there are 29 bushes now, so I’ve learned to share. Favorite tea is The Republic of Tea’s ‘Ginger Peach’ over ice….. taste like summer. Sunday’s are family barbecue for who ever shows up, can’t wait to ‘bump up’ the ice tea on with your recipe for Summer Peach Tea Punch. Thanks for sharing. Oh summer flowers! Geraniums, peonies, roses, clematis, lilacs, bougainvillea, not to mention the herbs . . . I love them all! But if I had to choose just one . . . it would absolutely have to be sunflowers! I fill my house with them all year round. Nothing makes me happier. Now as for my favorite summer drink, nothing beats and ice cold glass of sweet tea. However, I do love a good mimosa, haha! I’m a new subscriber and am just loving your blog. The garden shed is amazing! Thank you so much for your beautiful pictures. I had my sister subscribe as well. I love to share the really good stuff! Enjoy this glorious day! Deena

Where there’s tea there’s hope. ~Arthur Wing Pinero

I am sitting in the hospital as my elderly mother is being treated for cancer. It is early in the morning and the sun is starting to rise. This spring and summer have been a long unexpected turn of events in all of our lives. We lost my father in May and then the same day my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Cancer is a horrible disease.

Last week while at my mothers home, I invited two of her friends for a tea party lunch! I made a delightful Fruit Tea! We made chicken quiche, pasta salad and fresh fruit with coconut pineapple cake. We had a delightful time with mother and her friends! It will be a treasured memory!!!

Roses are my favorite flowers! I love any type of roses and colors!

So difficult to pick just one flower but lilacs have a bit of an edge because they have fragrance like none other! For sipping all day long–plain iced tea with fresh mint and at happy hour—mojitos or that retro, but now trendy favorite, Moscow mules! Love your posts, each and every day.

I love reading your blogs! I have even gone out and bought the things you’ve posted on them! Please keep the ideas coming!
For today’s challenge..my favorite flowers are 1. hydrangea and 2. hibiscus, living in the north east hydrangea do very well here, we are fortunate! Hibiscus is more tropical but we do have the pleasure of having it for at least the warm season here in NY! So my first choice is my favorite! My favorite summer drink is a Margarita, classic with salt ! Though I would say my second runner up is Sangria!! Non Alcohol is Green Tea, I drink it all day! Thanks for sharing and for the giveaways!! Happy Summer!

My favorite is sun tea with fresh lemon balm sprig and a slice of fresh lime. It’s hard to pick a favorite flower as I do enjoy each different unique flower that blooms as the months last during spring and summer. Lilacs violets, then daises brown eyed Susan’s, now Queen Anne’s lace they all are blessings

Oh, this give-away is BEE-UTIFUL!!! My favorite summer time flower is the Hydrangea. I remember as a child our landlady had the biggest, bluest blooms on her hydrangeas in her front yard. My favorite summertime drink is the old-fashtioned lemonade you made with real lemons and sugar. Half the fun was rolling the lemons to make them more juicy! I have been following you for years now, Mary, and every post is still a delight. I also follow you on facebook and have and will again share you there. I have yet to get myself a beverage dispenser and I would dearly love to win this one and the adorable canning/glasses…they are so cute! The towel with the bee skep is beautiful. Thank you for the opportunity for your followers to win this awesome give-away!
Happy Hugs to you and puppies!

Mary, my favorite flower is the hydrangea. Our beautiful blue mop head makes me smile every day of summer. It was started by a cutting from a bush belonging to my husband’s grandmother who lived in the mountains of NC. We brought it to the coast, and it has survived three home relocations. Needless to say, it is sentimental. I can sit on my back porch sipping my favorite summer drink, an Arnold Palmer, and enjoy all the beautiful flowers, birds, butterflies, and bees. Your blog and all these things add beauty and charm to my day making my heart sing!

I love love love hydrangea!!! There are a couple more that run a close second….Angel Wing Begonia and Zinnias. My grandmother always a porch full of begonias and grew Zinnias in her garden. She always would bring a big vase and put on the alter at church. She would throw in some cockscomb and coleas too. She had a green thumb like no one else….my Daddy is a beekeeper and just harvested a big batch of honey. Nothing better in the world! Thanks so much for the giveaway…those jars are perfect for lots of things! I will be sharing the giveaway on my page.

My favorite summer flowers are the magnolia and the hydrangea. I picked two because sometimes the hydrangeas aren’t too dependable here in Raleigh, NC. This year the blooms are better than last year. Every year I can count on the beautiful scented magnolias blooming next to our gazebo. My husband and I love to sip sweet tea (mine is delicious!) and sit on the gazebo and take in the beauty of the magnolias and the hydrangeas. Love your posts as I too am a Southern gardener….in a Victorian style home.

I am enamored with wildflowers, they are just free spirited, untouched beauty, naturally,

Just when a flower blooms, I think it is my favorite, then the next one appears and it is just as captivating. If I had to choose, I would say my favorite is the one in current bud and blooming,

Fresh squeezed lemonade with zest and mint are my favorite summertime drinks because it is so refreshing and can be so easy to add every type of berry, tea or spritzer, Your blog is such an inspiration as you live out the Thoreau Quote to fully embrace each season……..Carpe Diem! Cheers

My favorite summertime beverage to share with friends on the front porch is some ice cold lemonade, not too sweet, just a little tart…says summertime to me! Your photography is always so lovely, I think it would be so nice to just sit and enjoy your garden! I wonder how you have time to go out on the boat, it looks like you work so hard on your gardening!

My Grandfather was from Denmark and when he moved to the states he planted a beautiful flower garden around his home. As a little girl, he would take me through his gardens and we would visit about the flowers and end up in his grape arbor, munching on those fresh, juicy sweets. He taught me to love flowers and appreciate the difference in not only flowers but people. He grew lots of beautiful lilac bushes, my favorite smell, and he gave a start to my mother. I in turn received a start from her and now I have a beautiful third generation French lilac bush that I cherish. My favorite summer time drink, lemonade!!

I live in the South so gotta be Tea and Peach is my all time favorite. Favorite flower this year—purslane (hope I spelled it right) too HOT and up till now too dry—everything turned up their heels—but I found these in hot pink and in sunshine yellow and they love the sun and keep on blooming with new ones coming every day. They have made the view out my kitchen window so special. They were cheap (under $2.00 a pot) and they may or may not make it back on their own but if not I will be buying them again and again and again.

Love your little Bee Skeeps—and the beverage container but what i love best is the visit by the little “bee” that came to visit—how perfect..

I love hollyhocks as a sweet memory of Miss Hattie in her sunbonnet walking among he rows and rows of hollyhocks! She absolutely loved them and tended them so lovingly. I call these “memory maker moments.” Southern sweet tea is my favorite summer drink! I guess I’m just an old sentimentalist!

  287. July 25, 2015 at 12:16 am

I’m a sucker for hydrangeas, especially blue. Ahh…so pretty! I’m thirsting for a glass of that tea now too, which I am also a sucker for! I wish we had a Home Goods here in Tulsa. I’d go get some of those jars/glasses now. They’re adorable with the bees on them!

My favorite flowers are our purple cone flowers and the flowers of our patio herbs. I use the herbs and their flowers in cooking and decorating. I love peach tea and will be trying your recipe for a cocktail with friends! Thanks for sharing. Love your blog.

Have been on vacation and am just catching up with your blog posts. Hydrangeas and peonies are my favorite garden flowers, although peonies just don’t last long enough here in SC. We have a Sarah Bernhardt (I think) peony which came from my husband’s grandmother’s childhood home garden. It’s so special to me that this flower has been passed down through the generations. As for a summer beverage, I now drink a lot of water, frequently with mint (from my garden) and lemon. I can’t wait to try your peach tea recipe for a special occasion.

Your blog is a constant source of inspiration, and I happily look forward to your posts! Your outstanding photography makes each post so inviting!

Since my husband just started with 2 hives this spring, I guess my favorite flower would have to be whatever the bees seem to like at the particular moment! Right now they really seem to be liking cosmos. As for my drink, I think I’d like a tall glass of iced tea out in the garden.

Just like Cookie, I recently returned from our Longaberger Bee, the national sales convention. I love bee accessories because of my love for Longaberger friends and my love for my garden. it’s hard to pick one flower, but if I had to pick just one, it would be hydrangeas. I grow several varieties: Limelight, Bluebird, and Oakleaf. Favorite summertime drink? it has to be sweet tea, served with fresh mint from a pot on my deck or lemon. I am already a subscriber. Years ago, we lived in Hickory, NC, so always enjoy your photos.
