Weighing Anchor and Nautical Fun on the Pontoon

DSC_2105.1

I’m weighing anchor for a little nautical fun on the pontoon and joining 19 other bloggers for an alfresco tablescape blog hop!

You’ll find tablesetting inspiration and links to more alfresco fun at the bottom of this post.

Instead a table by the lake, I took the challenge to get a little creative for this alfresco tablescape blog hop!

Boating season has been underway here since Memorial Day. In the spirit of boating season, the pontoon is decked out from stem to stern, with anchors, ship’s wheels, red, white and blue, and stars and stripes for a little nautical fun!

We’re picnicking on the pontoon under the cover of the dock, enjoying some welcome shade in mid 90 degree temps, the next best thing to a floating picnic on the pontoon.

Welcome Aboard!

Anchor salad plates in melamine, are first mate to red and navy striped dinner plates, for carefree summer dining.

They’re joining enamel boat dishes, while flatware and napkin rings provide a nautical rope detail, to pair with the rim of the plates.

Towels provide a tablecloth and absorbent seating. . .

While pillows keep us anchored for our pontoon picnic!

A nautical insulated picnic tote is handy for picnicking and toting snacks. . .

Help yourself to some Popseas Sweet & Salty Kettle Corn.

A life ring keeps our picnic food buoyed~ an assortment of cheese, meat, olives and almonds for shipshape snacking. . .

Served with boatloads of crackers, strawberries and grapes.

What fun Mary! I’m lovin’ all your nautical details from the anchor pillows and towels to your fun melamine dishes. I think my favorite detail is your life preserver as a charger for your picnic, fun, fun, fun!

  5. July 23, 2018 at 7:08 am

I got so excited when I saw the title of your post this morning…you know this floats my boat! Three cheers for the red, white and blue and nautical fun too. I’m pinning to remember your idea of a lifering as serving idea for our next lake party!

  6. July 23, 2018 at 7:12 am

Mary, your pontoon picnic is so fun and festive. Who wouldn’t love to climb aboard for your snacks and nautical setting?!! The nautical theme is carried out perfectly with the melamine, boats, pillows, and towels. I agree with Kathy, the life preserver is genius for keeping your place settings steady. What a great pleasure to blog hop with you!

  7. July 23, 2018 at 7:21 am

Mary, I have to confess that I have boat envy anytime you picnic on your pontoon! Your fall picnic on the pontoon is one of my favorite posts of all time but this is full of summer fun and wonderful nautical details. Such great pillows and nautical towels too. Happy Boating!

  8. July 23, 2018 at 7:22 am

Now that’s my kind of hot weather (any weather???) munchies Mary! The pontoon looks spiffy and ship shape, bet you had a blast setting it up:@)

  9. July 23, 2018 at 7:32 am

Of course, a tablescape on the boat! Hope you are having a nice time on the water this year.

  10. July 23, 2018 at 7:36 am

I cannot tell you how your pontoon posts make me miss my years of pontooning. This is so beautifully done down to the last detail. Also loved your nautical language.

  11. July 23, 2018 at 8:09 am

I always enjoy anything nautical and this is so much fun! Love the mix of anchors, stripes, stars and ship wheels. We had a pontoon for a while that provided some fun times. Having a sun roof is smart especially when you are dealing with the intense temps and or are going to be out a long time.

  12. July 23, 2018 at 8:26 am

What a delightful celebration of summer on the lake! Your nautical inspired setting reminds me of our sailing days. Although all of your details are so spot on, my favorite is the little enamel boats from Pottery Barn. I had considered buying those myself several times, but you have the perfect spot to add those to your tabletop! What fun it would be to take a little cruise around the lake with you! Thank you again for joining us on another tablescape blog hop!

  13. July 23, 2018 at 8:28 am

Oh Mary! I was so hoping you would do another picnic on your pontoon!!! We just bought an old used pontoon boat and we are thoroughly enjoying it! Your boat always looks like such a fun place to relax and this picnic is no exception! Love, love, love the buoy ring as the charger for your cheese plate and that boat caddy!!! What a wonderful way to kick off our elfresco dining adventure!!!

Anchors Aweigh Mary! You have set sail with boatload of nautical fun, such a comfy picnic full of perfect nibbles for a lazy day on the lake, and Popsea popcorn, how cute is that!! I love all your anchor plates and accessories, and the little boats are wonderful. So smart to stay cool in the shade 😎

Mary, nautical and patriotic at the same time! I love so much about this tablescape; the setting, the mix of patterns and motifs, and using a beach towl for the tablecloth. Very clever and creative. My absolute favorite thing is the life ring serving platter!

I’m savoring the charm of each nautacial detail, Mary. I miss time on the lake and alfresco boat dining. This takes me back to those days of packing a picnic basket, and sailing until late afternoon when we would drop anchor and enjoy our alfreso meal as the sun began to set. Stay cool and enoy your days on the water. Too hot here to even think of being outside. 108 at 2pm and probably 110 by now.

  36. July 23, 2018 at 7:18 pm

Mary… I was in a pontoon last night. My friend who took me out needs to see this post! She would be inspired to do the same as your delightful styled picnic!

    Gorgeous all the way around!

I visited all the tablescapes today. So lovely!

Wow. You do go all out. Very pretty and I always enjoy seeing your fur baby. Also, are you the blogger that bought a paddle board that had a t-bar to hold on to? I am interested in getting one and wondered if you still have yours and how you liked it.

  39. July 23, 2018 at 11:47 pm

Mary, how absolutely delightful. I’m so jealous that you have the luxury of being on the water ~ in the shade ~ for this alfresco tablescape. Love your dishes and all the little touches. Such a cute tablecloth and I’m gaga over the anchor napkins.

  40. July 24, 2018 at 12:04 am

Mary, your pontoon picnic is so creative and fun. You took this tablescape challenge above and beyond. Love your boat themed dishware and accessories. Melamine has come a long way. Anchors away is perfect. Looks like a delightful picnic to snack on. Always a pleasure to join you on these fun tablescape blog hops.

I love my pool and being 5 minutes to the gulf of Mexico, but I would love to be directly on the water in a pontoon boat and your beautiful al fresco tablescape is adorable. I love anything nautical. What a delightful picnic on the pontoon.

  43. July 24, 2018 at 9:47 am

Mary, you have no idea how much inspiration you have given me with your nautical tablescape! My grandfather was a captain and we have many things from his mariner career that would work so well in a tablescape! I never ever thought to use a life preserver the way you did! Using the towel as a tablecloth is perfect! And that row boat caddy is so cute. As always, an gorgeous tablescape!!

  44. July 24, 2018 at 12:14 pm

Oh My Golly, you even have nautical snacks! I wish I lived near you. I’d be your new bestie or at least a stalker just so I could be invited to all of your beautiful festivities! Love it!

  45. July 24, 2018 at 3:15 pm

    Hello Mary!

May I join you on this most perfect Al Fresco table on the lake and in the coolness of the water and shade! I love, love how you have incorporated so many thoughtful clever ideas and décor. Such a darling table and I am smitten with the mix of patterns too! You are my go-to-girl for themed tablescapes and parties!
