We are fortunate to have mild weather in December (as a rule :) in North Carolina, and enjoy our porch 10 months out of the year. It was in the mid 60s and sunny last week when I was adding some some Christmas touches to the porch.

There’s nothing like fresh, fragrant evergreens. . .pine, spruce, fir or cedar. . . to evoke the feeling of Christmas and to add some cheer! While we no longer have a real tree, a favorite family Christmas tradition for 10+ years was to drive up to the NC mountains to a Christmas tree farm on Thanksgiving weekend to select and cut a fresh tree.

Most years, there were 17 of us that made the trip and enjoyed the tradition of choosing our trees then watching while they were baled, then piled in the bed of my father-in-law’s truck to make the hour and a half ride back home. Lots of memories and miles were logged over the years driving up and down those winding mountain roads!

To ‘spruce’ up the porch for Christmas, I hung a fresh wreath on the porch.

I added a bow and Noel Farms Christmas truck sign to the wreath.

Ready to kick off the Christmas season.

A Christmas Vintage Truck Centerpiece is courtesy of Lynch Creek Farm, and is delivering a load of fresh and fragrant noble fir, incense cedar, and white pine. Fresh evergreens are accented with natural pine cones, red ball ornaments, red berry clusters and festive red ribbon. Magnets on each of the truck doors say “Noel Farms – Christmas Trees” and can be removed if desired.

Lynch Creek Farm is a small family owned company, dedicated to producing sustainable evergreen products, procured from the forests in their backyard of the great Pacific Northwest. Evergreen boughs are cultivated by trimming the lower branches of younger, coniferous trees in healthy and robustly forested areas, along the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Once a tree matures to 15 – 20 years in age, it is no longer trimmed, prolonging the lifespan of the woodlands, ensuring they will continue to grow and thrive for decades to come.

Treat your centerpieces as you would a potted plant:

After receiving your centerpiece, add 1/2 cup of water to the center of the oasis foam. Mist with water and add another 1/2 cup water every 2-3 days to bring out the fragrance. Place your centerpiece in a cool location, out of direct sunlight. With proper care, your centerpiece should last at least 3 weeks.

I love your porch decor! I have just started my decorating on Friday after Thanksgiving and I am off this week so I can take my time and enjoy the process. We are getting about a foot of snow today in NJ to make it even more festive! I love the red truck giveaway idea too and thank you for offering it! Merry Christmas!

I have a few finishing touches in the house. My patio is next. Love the inspiration you provided both on the porch and your table setting. Merry Christmas! Will be in the NC mountains for New Years. Can’t wait!

We finished last night our Christmas decorating, both inside & outside. Boy, it looks good!! We adore colored lights outside and inside our Christmas Tree can do both colored lights and white lights, which we like too!! Just the two of us now in our home. We decorate for us to enjoy our wondrous Birth of our Lord and so many happy family traditions.
Your two sweet dogs make me smile each month!! Have a great week and we would embrace your beautiful Christmas Vintage Truck Centerpiece at our home. Thanks for remembering your readers as well as Lynch Creek Farm!!

I am sitting here smiling at each picture that came up. The plaid wellies? Oh my, they just “speak” to me. You do an amazing job with your decorating. I am decorating Christmas Light here in Florida meaning I only have half of the decorations out. However, when I get to NY for Christmas it will be all out decorating to the rafters. The first time in 10 years our family of 4 kids and 6 grands will be celebrating there.
Thank you for including me in the drawing. (My Christmas card has a red truck on it)

Half way thru decorating have to do the porch and put up tree. Love all the pictures of the pups in their truck sweaters so cute!

  6. December 2, 2019 at 6:26 am

I still need to put away my fall decorations, but the boxes are ready to be filled and my Christmas decorations are pretty organized, so it won’t take much to transition to Christmas. We really love the smell of fresh cut trees but we have given in to the convenience of an artificial tree! My husband likes to get a couple of fresh wreaths to help give that “ole time Christmas smell” in the house. So glad to see Lola and Sophie helping out!

    Hi
I just love looking at your pictures! You have such a beautiful way of decorating. I am (for the first time) all done with my decorating! I usually start after Thanksgiving, but this year I have a new room to decorate (I am so excited about this room!) so I started earlier. We are right now in the middle of a snowstorm and we’ve already received about 18” of snow and it’s still snowing. I live in upstate NY. This centerpiece is absolutely beautiful and would look spectacular in my new room!
Thank you for all of your inspiration and have a wonderful week!

Hi Mary, Our tree is up and the star topper is twinkling. The ornament chest has sat beside it for a week. But every flat surface in this house is covered with 60 years of collecting Santa, Snowmen, Angels, Village, and little trees. I think I’ll put some away. Just got so excited to have the kids coming again for Christmas dinner. Thanks for the chance to win the Lynch floral centerpiece for our table.

For the past two days, the Christmas bomb has gone off in my house but very little Christmas decorating remains to be done. My Dogs woke me early this morning so I have had a few extra minutes to sit with my coffee and look at your decorations. As always they are an inspiration. The fresh centerpieces that you have highlighted add such a nice festive touch.

Mary, your porch looks so festive! Lola and Sophie are adorable in their matching Chrismas-tree-in-a-truck sweaters! The Lynch Tree Farm Christmas vintage truck centerpiece is so pretty with the mixture of greens. Your description of the wonderful scents sounds heavenly.
I had to chuckle with your questions about decorating. I think all would apply for me except the last one about sitting pretty because I was finished with decorating. I seem to get slower every year.

    December 2, 2019 at 6:42 am

We’re just about finished with the decorating. Everything is done except decorating the tree and cleaning up here on the main floor. The tree in the upstairs bedroom needs to be done but it’s small so it won’t take long, the tree and some decorations in the basement living room and bedroom need to be put out but that won’t take long either. After Tuesday we can relax and enjoy the season!!

Oh, I love all those trucks. I have almost finished hanging my outdoor roping but was stopped by darkness and rain. I find not finishing stressful, but am trying to get over myself. I used the rainy day to do my mantel and decorate my dining room tree.

I love your decor. Especially fond of the plaid. I’ve always loved the smell of fresh evergreens. My decorating has been complete since November 30 as my Marine son is getting to come from Japan to visit for a few days (first time in 2 years since we’ve seen him) and we will be celebrating Christmas with him while he’s here so the house needed to be ready. Don’t think I’ve ever been done this early before. While I took care of the inside my sweet hubby made sure the outside was all taken care of. I absolutely love this time of year and it’s gonna be extra special this year. Thank you for sharing your lovely decorations with us!

    December 2, 2019 at 7:19 am

Nada, but I will “git er going” in a day or so. I am beyond blessed to travel between two places…a blessing and a curse. I’m waaaaay too old to decorate two homes. Can barely even get one done! Thanksgiving decorations this year were a good example of the craziness. I hastily jerked down an absolute ton of Halloween decorations, threw up a bunch of turkeys and such, then left the next day to spend T-Day at our other home! But I just HAD to do it or I couldn’t have slept. Decorating madness at it’s finest. Ha! I hope the pilgrims and turkeys had a good Thanksgiving without me.

Oh well, onward and upward. Christmas decorating awaits and I must go!!!

    • December 2, 2019 at 7:25 am

I laughed out loud at your comment Kathy, I can relate to your “decorating madness”…not being able to sleep, too funny! 🎃🦃🎄

  28. December 2, 2019 at 7:20 am

Your babes in truck toy land attire is adorable, I made an audible gaffaw when I noticed, PRECIOUS! I love red trucks at xmas, when we bought the beach house I thought our red truck looked out of place in the gray fog and watery blues, we traded it in for gray, now that we have a red barn I miss it constantly! Pretty sad when your car colors become part of your decore…. Adorable setting, I too have lots of red truck props, we are in the midst of two weeks of rain, I start my day saying farewell to pumpkins and turkeys and on to the next, I admire your strength in early decorations!

I usually wait a few weeks, but thus is the 1st time in many years I brought out my holiday totes on Thanksgiving Weekend! I guess it was the snow yesterday that inspired me to start decorating. And the 1st thing I did was as to put up my wreath on the door…and so it begins hohoho!

  30. Courtney Cloe
    December 2, 2019 at 7:22 am

Your centerpiece is beautiful! I am almost done with our decorating; but the thought of dragging down three more boxes of ornaments is seriously making me think about leaving my trees naked, lol.

  31. Cheryl Anderson
    December 2, 2019 at 7:23 am

Your decorating is sublime and you certainly have an eye for taking pictures to share your talent with your followers. Thank you – I really enjoy your posts. This year I retired from a job in New England and moved to Florida. I used to go out my back door to collect various evergreens to decorate – not anymore. We bought an artificial tree because fresh ones are pretty rare in our area of Florida and I must say, it is pretty nice. I dragged out the bins of decorations and set up a work station in my dining room. I am half way done decorating. I hope to have everything in place today and will need to determine what to purchase to complete my design. Evergreens are at the top of the list!

  32. December 2, 2019 at 7:25 am

OMG-I love that little truck centerpiece!!! I spent a very busy Thanksgiving weekend getting everything set-up, and I’m pleased to say, I ~think~ I’m all done:@) Thanks for the fun give-away Mary, Happy Holiday Season!

    December 2, 2019 at 7:27 am

Our big tree is done. A 3 day process for me (Including trips to the store for more lights) All white ornaments this year. Porch is draped with greenery but the rest of the indoor and outdoor decorating has yet to be done. So I’m at least half way finished if we don’t count cleaning up the mess that decorating brings.

How adorable, both your choice from Lynch Creek Farms and the pups in their coordinated sweaters! The porch looks great in its plaids and greens.
I am finished with my decor, but not without a major workout at the storage unit, lifting and hauling a couple bins at a time. I’m still trying to purge some of Christmas stuff just to lighten my load!
Thanks for the chance with your partnershio with Lynch Creek, Mary.

Mary, those pups in their sweaters just took my breath away..they are so so cute!! Absolutely adorable!!! I almost forgot to enter….I’m all finished but certainly not relaxing…I had to finish early to help a friend, who is ill, with her decor!!! I miss a real tree but I don’t miss the mess…but, before I leave this earth, I hope to have one more real Balsam tree like we had when I was a kid!! I love Lynch Creek pieces…your porch is just gorgeous and you are very lucky to be able to enjoy it longer!!! GOOD LUCK to all and HAPPY DECORATING!! Love this season!! 🎄❤️

Just about finished putting away my,fall decor, have our tree set up ready to be decorated and we brought the bins down from our loft in the barn. Some outdoor is done but front porch awaits. I am midway into decorating for Christmas, taking time to give careful thought to having a touch of Christmas in every room without going overboard. Your arrangement reminds me of years ago when our son would go with us to a tree farm to find the “perfect” tree. Some were just too beautiful to cut.

Love your porch decor and those dogs are precious! Love your red truck with the lynch creek farms arrangement! I am about 90% through decorating. Getting older just makes it harder each year and our house Is for sale. Would love to win the truck arrangement to make my house smell like Christmas!

  52. December 2, 2019 at 8:29 am

What a beautiful blog you have! Oh, it was a real joy to visit with you today! Thank you for the chance to win such a lovely giveaway! We are all finished with our Christmas decorating at our house. We started early, as we could wait no longer! We are minimalists, so we have scaled WAY back from what we used to do. But, it definitely is enough to make it begin to look a lot like Christmas in our household! Our nativity scene is out, our tree is up and decorated, a few Christmas lights on our front outdoor railing, a Christmas wreath on our front door, a few other little reminders here and there, and we are done! Merry Christmas to you and yours and many blessings!

Hello Mary! GREAT Giveaway! They are a wonderful company to work with and their stuff is amazing! So recall, last year I was lucky enough to win the Wreath you gave away. My friend had just lost her husband and she was alone with no children and only a brother to help her along. That wreath made her holidays and it was beautiful. She had it on her back enclosed patio on a pretty wicker glass table with a timed candle. During the evening hours, with her other lights that her husband had just put up the day before he passed, the light in the candle, that beautiful wreath, warmed her heart. I was so delighted to be so lucky to win that for her. Again, Thank you for that great giveaway.
My daughter and I ordered wreaths from there this year for our family members. Each one has received their gift and all of them LOVE it! They all have said “Best gift ever!”

Decorating…oh my! That has to happen doesn’t it?? Well, luckily enough, we got our outside decorating done and now when the snow is blowing we can enjoy doing the inside. That will start this week. Age has changed the decorating process year after year, with less and less. Thankfully, I have my daughter who gives me a hand and we make it a good time together. We do a small bit here and there over the holiday season, helps to enjoy the process.

To all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday!

I have a wreath on the front door and replaced the mums in the planters with fresh pine and fir branches, berries, etc. So far thats all! Kind of overwhelmed thinking about getting all the boxes out to start on the tree.

Needless to say, I’m just getting started. Trying to recover from a busy Thanksgiving, I needed a few days to breathe and get ready for the bringing down the mass of totes and boxes. As always, I made a promise to thin out my stash but just haven’t had the heart to eliminate so many of my favorite things.
Have a great Christmas and Holiday Season. Now, as for me, onward with decking the halls and any other part of the house that gets in the way.

Have not yet begun to decorate, but I have checked the whereabouts of the containers holding those precious ornaments and decorations….will get busy today…after all, it is only 31/2 weeks away from the Big Day! Your puppies look precious in those sweaters! Beautiful ideas via this blog. Guess I’ll go to the local nursery soon to pick up some free greens that have been cut from trees sold…bring them home and “marinate” them in some potion I’ll find on the internet to make them last for awhile before I decorate with them… Have a blessed Christmas season, and many many thanks for the inspirations you share..

For the first time ever, we put up our big tree BEFORE Thanksgiving because the holiday was late this year. Surprisingly, we enjoyed having the room decorated for Christmas. Yesterday I decorated the 2nd Christmas (real) tree in the family room. It’s fresh pine fragrance filled the room and it’s so beautiful. The rest of the house is almost done now. I do enjoy every minute of it, even though it’s exhausting! Mary, your porch is so inviting. Living in NJ does not allow us any outdoor living at Christmas, so we make the most of sitting by the fireplace and enjoying all the pretty lights and decorations.

Your porch décor is so festive and your fur babies are darling in their sweaters! I’ve just started decorating…Have tree up and a couple of wreaths so far. Plan on making a large one for the door with greenery from my yard, It brings back precious memories of going with my mother to cut down our Christmas tree, which was just a simple cedar tree from nearby. I never knew anything of a bought live tree till I was out on my own! We also collected holly, running cedar and nandina berries for decorating the mantle and tables. Have a blessed Christmas with your loved ones and make new memories!

    E V E R Y T I M E … you hit the Ball out of the Ballpark! Another GRANDSLAM!
Your Christmas porch is beautiful but with Lola and Sophie… it’s Spectacular! Love, love! 🐾❤️🐾💚

As for me… we travel between two houses and let’s just say… one is decorated for Christmas! However… Here at the LakeHouse… a swag of lights and evergreen made it up on the mantel. That was it! But that’s okay… we visited our beloved family and friends.

We will return to our Arizona Home soon and it’s all decorated except for a few accents from the Attic… which may not make it out as Guests are arriving as soon as we get back. It’s all good… Family Fellowship is what it’s all about!

Love your porch! Hugs to Lola and Sophie and well wishes to you and yours for December!

Mary, I love the truck theme! Your porch is so festive. Lola & Sophie look so cute in their sweaters. The truck filled with greenery is so cute! I have just begun decorating. The dining room is sporting a new Ralph Lauren Paisley (green, red & ivory) tablecloth from HomeGoods (saw your red, white & blue one & really wanted one) along with new holiday dishware pieces. I bought a couple unique Santa’s & a trio of snowmen yesterday so they are gracing the dining area. Now off to the attic to begin emptying tubs after work! Have a great week Mary! Clara ♥️

I have always loved decorating for any season or event, but, Mary, you always amaze me with your flair. Once again I am in awe of your talents. Three years ago I fell in love with little red trucks as part of my Christmas decor; so today’s blog was an all time winner. I am 77 years old ( keeping house with my hubby for 57 years) so decorating for 2 houses is especially challenging. I completely turned 1 into a wonderland; but sadly my body is telling me “no more”. Today I really need to return all fall decor to the many totes that house it. If that is accomplished I’m sure the emptiness will inspire me to carry on soon.
Happy holidays to you and yours.

Done with Tree and will get started on rest of house and porch/yard this week. Ho ho ho , what darling sweaters for the precious fur-babies!! I wish I could love on them! ♥️♥️🐾🐾. Your porch is perfect and I’m happy to say ours is lighted, swagged and wreathed with lights on the picket fence which leads out to the garage and it has lights across it as well. But the house, …well, hopefully I will start taking down Thanksgiving today. Hard to put away my Tom Plate (Thank you Mary), but need to get started. Saturday was decorating our church sanctuary and so now it’s time to start on my house. The little red truck is darling and reminds me of my grandpa’s, but his was even an older model. Thanks for a beautiful start to a decorating day. Hugs to the pups.♥️🎄

I LOVE this! The girls are the cutest in their red truck sweaters! As for your question: I am done! It is a new tradition here now that our son comes up for Colleens bday on 11/20 so I get it all done by then since he isn’t here for Christmas. It feels so good especially since Thanksgiving was so late this year. Wishing you a joyous holiday season, Mary!!!!

I am just getting started! The house is a mess…full of Christmas bins. It usually takes a few days to finish the inside but I’m determined. Absolutely love the pups in their matching Christmas themed sweaters. I’m pretty much done with Christmas shopping but just starting with the decorating. Waiting for friends to pick up a huge piece of furniture, that’s taking up a good portion of my living room, so I can get my brand new flocked artificial tree up. We had started our outside decorating this past weekend but got hit with a snow storm (that’s still going on) and currently have over 18″ of snow on the ground.

Mary, your porch is filled with the holiday spirit! What a cheerful welcome, especially with Lola and Sophie wearing their truck sweaters. {I couldn’t get Bentley to wear a sweater if I tried! He already fusses to the max when he’s wearing a “scarf.”} You always inspire me, dear friend, and your post is such a happy way to begin the day.

I’m still decorating, we had Thanksgiving here this year and I just didn’t have room for a tree since the weather was stormy and wet. But the elves and I {read=I, myself, and me} are getting it done. It’s such a joy to meet on our Monday Morning Blooms, friend. xoxo Lidy

  106. December 2, 2019 at 11:13 am

Well, it looks more like Christmas outside than inside here at our house! We got 10” of snow yesterday and more to come today. There is a wreath on the door and some candle, wreath, lantern planters, but not much happening indoors, as we leave tomorrow for the German Christmas Markets! Seemed like a good ideas last year when we planned this trip, but now…not so much! Will be a simpler holiday when we get home—which isn’t all bad either. We never put up our tree until about the week before Christmas, and leave it up till Epiphany, Jan 6th. Love the truck centerpiece! Delightful! Merry Christmas to all!!

Sadly, we won’t be decorating this year. Our home is in the midst of a catastrophic remediation and we will be spending Christmas week in a VRBO with our kids. We do hope to put up a small tree t the rental with them. One of the few things keeping me sane is all the beautiful decorations I enjoy in blog-land and looking forward to decorating next year when this will be behind us. Your front porch is always one of my faves.

Having spent Thanksgiving week in the mountains of Tennessee, I haven’t started my Christmas decorating yet! We loved our trip but it has put me behind in my decorating. Hope to begin the process tomorrow. I do, however, have my Christmas wreath on the front door – does that count as beginning the process???

Starting today UN-FALL-I-FYING. My daughter and family have headed back to Florida from here in the mountains in beautiful Blue Ridge Ga. We were very fortunate the weather held up for us to actually have our Thanksgiving dinner OUTSIDE in our pavilion down by the water. The outdoor fireplace kept us warm enough. I’ve been dreaming we could have our dinner out there, and it actually happened. 😁Then it got too cold, so headed inside for desserts. Now a few snow flurries, but no accumulation. We had a candy cane scavenger hunt for my 4 yr old grandson! He had a great time finding all 60! They were hanging all around the woods on trees and lower branches! He filled up his turkey basket and the start of him waiting anxiously for Christmas began! Hope everyone has a blessed Christmas season. Now I’d better get started putting away Fall, so Christmas can appear….also looks like the deer are eying all the corn and pumpkins!

I have not started decorating yet. Too much going on this past weekend! The truck cenerpiece reminds me of our old 1948 pickup. It was dark green. We kids had so much fun hauling hay to the livestock and taking lunch to Dad in the fields with it. My uncle could have used it to bring us a Christmas tree from the woods of northern Michigan; I was too little to remember. For many years, we used it for hay rides where we sat on straw bales with the dog! We were sad when that little truck was sold as it held so many wonderful memories for my brother, cousins and me!
Always enjoy your posts and your little fur babies.

  121. December 2, 2019 at 12:45 pm

Mary, you have such style, and those wellies are adorable. Having hosted Thanksgiving (and with it being so late this year), I am doing quite well. I have my hutch decorated, table set up for photographing, and the great room tree is up and decorated with all of my mother’s ornaments. Lots of emotion here because this is my first Christmas without both of my parents.

Haven’t started my Christmas decorating yet after hosting Thanksgiving and then heading to Georgia to spend the remainder of the weekend with my 97 year old Aunt. The trip is short but it’s worth it – she is my treasure and in fact still delivers Meals on Wheels!! I’m behind now so I better get those pumpkins put away and the snowmen brought out. Your blog always inspires me to get going! We will have Christmas at my daughters as she has a new baby. I know she’d Love the red truck centerpiece – she already has a few in her decor. Thanks Mary for your generosity! I love Lynch Creek Farms. I sent a wreath to my Aunt last year and she said it was beautiful. Your porch is always warm and inviting. Merry Christmas!

I truly fell in love with your porch…it’s so inviting! I have completed my decorating including my new sunroom which transformed into a “White Christmas”. Based on your recommendation last year, I purchased a centerpiece. I couldn’t have been more thrilled with my purchase. They are a wonderful company and have beautiful things. Though your pictures are beautiful, the smell and freshness of their things is amazing. My arrangement lasted 6 weeks, and I am super fussy. I will be ordering again this year!

  126. December 2, 2019 at 1:21 pm

Well, thank you very much! (ha!) I thought I had finished my decorating until I see your blog post today! I save your posts to read when I can take a few minutes to enjoy as I know YOURS is always right down my alley. You are always so inspiring and since we really DO have a RED TRUCK, I have lots more to decorate now. The porch is a welcome to all our guests, and we southerners always love our porches…but yours is over the top! The two precious babies with their sweaters on just melts my heart. As always your never disappoint with your posts…oh my, you raise the bar high!!

I love your porch decorations for Christmas. I am very happy to say that mine were done two weeks ago. I wanted a lot of time to enjoy them. I also love your dogs. What kind are they, and do they shed? Thank you for this opportunity.

I am just getting started – but oh how I did decorate for Thanksgiving! I hated to throw away all my pretty pumpkins! The older I get the slower I pull out and decorate at Christmas – but those of us who decorate are really celebrating life, aren’t we? I feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t feel compelled to decorate and celebrate this blessed season! I love the little red trucks as well as the precious puppies!

Today I am just putting all my fall decorations away and getting all my Christmas and winter decorations out of storage.

I love, love, love all your seasonal decorations and look forward to seeing what new duds the dogs are sporting! Where did you find those adorable sweaters? My 3 Poms and 2 Yorkies would look adorbs un them, especially for their annual Santa photos.

Such beautiful fresh green arrangements! I need to check out their sites.

I got out my five stuffed Christmas bears. Phew, I’m bushed! Read a few ideas on Christmas cookies. That really made me tired. Thought about how much time I have left to do everything and it seemed like a long way off so I put my feet up and relaxed after all this. The holidays are so taxing. If only I had a cute centerpiece I could call my decorating complete. Have a safe and happy holiday.

WE HAVE BEGUN!! 9ft tree this year with 950 lights just installed…had 1,000 but 50 went out…my “light house” fixer quit…so we have 950 lights. It’s in the middle of the floor and the reflections EVERYWHERE is a mini fantasy land!! Lots of trips to my “she shed” for lots more….franki

  153. December 2, 2019 at 6:34 pm

Your porch decor is great! The vintage truck centerpiece was one of my favorites. There is something so special about those trucks and bringing home the Christmas tree even though we never had a truck.😀
I am in the beginning stages of decorating. We put our tree up on Thanksgiving and the grandkids and my daughters use to decorate it. But this year for the first time our grandchildren who are all adults now had other obligations with significant others. So this old Granny is having to go a lot slower than I would like. But I’ll get it done. I leave it up a good while after Christmas because I love it all s much.

  154. December 2, 2019 at 6:35 pm

Mary – As ever, you never fail to inspire…That Tree in a Truck centerpiece would feel right at home
in our home …. We will bid fond farewell to our final Thanksgiving guest on Wednesday and then on to storing Autumn décor and opening the bins to Christmas. Excitement galore.. short recovery
time in between holidays this year. Inclement weather postponed exterior decorating until tomorrow.
Best laid plans etc. Will garland the mantels in the interior, decorate the dining room table and side board, and place classic tree in the entry hall across from the table holding the Nativity set. I called
it “simplifying” this year ..lol. But you have my creative juices running and I must find that darling
sweater for our little four-legged spoiled one. Your fir/red globe-filled wellies are ingenious and
spark the imagination. Many thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas…..

  156. December 2, 2019 at 7:30 pm

You came along with this post just when I needed it! I can’t put up Christmas decor until after Thanksgiving and since I decorate heavily for Fall it takes a full two days to take all that down. So finally got to my decorating on Sunday (1st) and now have after two days my tree up and all the decorations in the living room, I am NOT a minimalist and enjoy all my decorations saved for over 45 years! I am tired and your post really ignited my energy again. Tomorrow I am going to decorate the kitchen, bathrooms, office, hallway and sunroom! So very merry!!! Sure love that truck, living on a farm it is definately my country style!

Got my tree out this weekend to find that many of the lights no longer worked. Went to Hobby Lobby today to buy replacements only to find their shelves empty of lights as well as many other shelves. It’s only Dec. 2!!! Will try Lowes tomorrow and hope to have the lights on by tomorrow night. Love your blog, it’s always so inspiring. I’ve used to many of your ideas and recipes. Sweet fur babies.

I’ve enjoyed your wonderful tablescapes for years. So many wonderful ideas! My own decorating is well on its way. The boxes of ornaments and decor have come out of storage and I’m in the process of unpacking and reminiscing about Christmases past. I’ll have it all done in the next day or two so we can enjoy the seasonal beauty of it all. Thanks to you and the other lovely ladies and Lynch Creek Farm for the generous giveaway.

Thanks Mary for a great giveaway.
I’m feeling good about my decorating this year. Before going to our cabin in north Michigan for Thanksgiving I did all my vignettes around my house. So now I’m home and only have to put up two Christmas trees and outdoor decorations.

Love the truck centerpiece it would go great with the rustic decor of my family room.

    December 2, 2019 at 9:57 pm

With the knowledge that there was not much time between Thanksgiving and Christmas I cheated this year. I bypassed Thanksgiving decorations even though I hosted the dinner and started on my Christmas decorating before then. Another reason for this is the last two weekends my husband and I planted 125 three foot arborvitae down our fence line after we removed the grass sod. What a project which took up many of my decorating days. So I’m going more minimal this year. I just finished putting up my first snow flocked artificial tree and I must say it is stunning! I still need to put the ornaments on and put out a few more decorations but I’m actually loving less and like the idea of switching things out year to year. Happy Holidays Everyone.

So cute! I am reading this at 9 Oman’s I can say that the inside is 90% finished.. if it had been 9 am it would have said 0% finished!! I am happy to say that my decorating is complete (except resetting some of my battery operated candles so they all come on at the same time). My hubby took our two German Shorthair Pointers pheasant hunting in South Dakota, so that allowed me to have free time to make our house pretty and festive. It even allowed some very special time with my two grown daughters enjoying dinner and a Christmas movie by the fireplace. Oops!! Here comes my hubby and our pooches!!

I have to say as we started decorating today, we are 1/3 of the way! We have had to improvise this year since we have a 4 month little Basset Hound, who is into everything. We have blocked off the entry way into the living room in order to preserve many Christmas decorations. Your porch as always is just charming, I wish I was your neighbor, I’d come over to visit all the time!

Happy to say my decorating is done….tree up, nativity scene up, tables decorated….only need to go purchase five poinsettias to place here and there. Your photos bring such joy, and love those sweet pups. Thank you for the opportunity to win the beautiful arrangement.

  175. December 2, 2019 at 11:56 pm

Mary, your Noel Farm theme is adorable! The doggies even have truck sweaters. How do you always find the perfect details? I visited Shirley earlier and it was the Noel Farm Truck arrangement that immediately grabbed my attention.
I would be thrilled to add this darling arrangement to my Christmas decor. Thanks for the opportunity!
Where am I in decorating? I’m at ground zero!!! Between the month long hospital journey and the remodel of part of our home, I’m still looking at pumpkins and autumn colors. But last night I ordered a new tree and picked it up late today. Hope to get started tomorrow! I reasoned that digging out our tree from the back of a storage closet filled with things from the remodeled area would be a major project, and it would be my luck that the lights wouldn’t work. So a new tree it is!
And by the way, where did you find those adorable wellies? I need a pair!
Happy December to you and the girls!

Hi Mary, Wishing you and your beautiful holidays!!! Normally I would be able to say I am just about finished with decorating!! But like and behold I caught the bug going around here in Georgia , sick all through Thanksgiving, couldn’t be around others to make them sick. So please send prayers that I will get much better and be able to decorate. I would love to win this adorable centerpiece and it could very well be all of my decorating for this year if I don’t get well soon🤣❤️🙏🎄🎄

    December 3, 2019 at 12:34 am

We’re not quite done because…drum roll, please…the amazing husband said it was time for all new decorations this year! I think I’ve earned front row parking at several shops where I now know all the employee’s names. At this point, I may have to start dressing incognito…

We have a new 5 year-old rescue lab, and this will be her first Christmas and winter as an indoor dog! I cannot ask for anything more than watching her enjoy a home filled with love. It’s as though Christmas arrived early!

Now, I’m undecided on a kitchen island centerpiece so I must head out to check your prior year posts for inspiration!

Everything is absolutely beautiful. I can almost smell the pine and fresh air! Right now my living room is full of boxes of generations of decorations. I’m hoping to get most of the decorating done today but I know I will hold and remember every piece of decoration! Most of which will go back into the boxes as I no longer live in a big house in the country. But it is fun to look anyway!

  195. December 3, 2019 at 9:38 am

I love your front porch! We recently roofed the “portal” on our Pueblo style house in New Mexico and I am having fun with the Christmas decor which will now no longer need to be hauled into the house when it snows. We haul our tree and the greens for decorating St. Mark’s Episcopal church with an orange Kubota and a trailer which hardly evokes the nostalgic charm of a red pickup truck, so I painted a watercolor one for the front portal, but would love to win that Lynch Farm red truck centerpiece to keep the painting company! Portal and chandelier decorated, hot chocolate station ready, the Christmas dishes out and in use, and the Advent wreath has pride of place in the living room. However, it still feels too early to bring in the tree. Trying to celebrate Advent before Christmas!

Mary, I have a red plaid tablecloth which I got a couple of years ago at a Williams Sonoma outlet. Each year I strive to do something a little different, but still using that tablecloth as my inspiration. I am an artist and paint a lot of buildings. Last year I cut out 2 dimensional gingerbread house cookies and decorated them with white icing to accent the architectural details. They were scattered around the table on the red plaid tablecloth. The truck would be a welcome addition this year.

Spent the day with my older sister who went on about every truck holiday decoration she saw today. What a surprise to see all the trucks in your decor!

Sadly, I have not begun decorating for Christmas yet. The bins have been moved from the crawl space (a nightmare) to the garage where I have easier access to them. I already feel stressed over my lack of progress! Hopefully it will begin this weekend!

Love your decorations, they are always so festive and inviting! Christmas is my favorite time of the year…I decorate early just so I can enjoy the memories longer. I have a Foil Tree that is decorated with auction finds of ornaments that would remind me of my childhood with my parents. Also, decorated with my grown children’s “master pieces ” when they were little. There is nothing more wonderful than a smile on a child’s face, no matter how old❤

I just finished all the outside decorating of Christmas lights and blow-ups tonight! It has been too windy here to get it done, and we have been super busy anyway! Thanks for the chance to win that great red truck centerpiece.

Just got the boxes down and carried into the living room. Hoping to get the outdoor decor going while the weather cooperates. Hosting a party on Dec. 15–so gotta get this decorating DONE.

I am not very far along at all with my decorating except for having my boxes of decorations hauled downstairs, still unopened. And to think that last year by this time I was completely done, with wrapping, cards, everything! I’ll be home from a trip to Florida in a few days and will catch up. But I am amazed at how much everything here is decked out and totally in the holiday spirit already! Your blog and others have given me some wonderful ideas for decorating!

I love your porch in any season and here in NC we are blessed to enjoy all 4. As always you have decorated the porch beautifully.
I have finished decorating, this year for several reasons I put up a 4.5 table top tree and I love it. So easy, I was able to do it all myself from start to finish.
    Next is wrapping presents.
Thank you for sharing, would love to win this fun arrangement.

Haven’t started and frothing at the bit!
Rain Rain and more Rain here in So. California has flooded our back yard making it impossible to get to the shed. I have gotten linens out and Christmas dishes washed so it’s a start!
Wish your table cloth was still available would be perfect with my dishes the green is a hard shade
To blend with plaids as they are way off.. someday!!
Everything is put together beautifully and the girls are sweet as ever.
Merry Christmas to you Mary and your family.

I am about 1/3 done. Our outside is just about finished (some details to add to the porch, but outside lighting is up and on). Still quite a lot to do inside. I am taking it slow and actually enjoying my decorating.

Your porch looks so cozy and inviting. I love everything about it, including your pops. I am in the early stages of my Christmas decorating. I hope to get most of it finished this weekend, but it takes me a couple of days just to decorate our tree because it is so huge. Hopefully I will get things under control soon!

Such a fun porch – looks like the doggies like it too! ;) I’m just getting started. The tree is up and halfway decorated, but the mantel still has my harvest look on it! It’s fall on one side of the room and Christmas on the other!

I am almost finished with the decorations! Just a few more finishing touches on the outside and it will be complete! I love this time of year and especially excited as all of my children and grandchildren are able to visit over the holidays!

Just beautiful! I’m a bit behind this year, been sick so things have been slow. Will finish the tree this weekend
And hopefully some baking too…Merry Christmas 🎄

As always, your talent never stops to amaze me. Love the porch decorations. And the fur babies sweaters are so cute. We are just starting our decorations. Hope to have them out and done by December 1st. Neither Bob or I can climb ladders so no outdoor lights so will do front door and our small porch. Indoors will be the tree which being artificial, we figured out how to decorate top of tree before put in. Then we decorate on down. Then the mantle, tables and servers. Thank you for the opportunity to enter for the marvelous centerpiece.
