I also grow peonies. Their beauty and scent are intoxicating. I favor the Bella Donna variety. Every garden should have some. Thanks for the giveaway.
I love the Bella Donna peony. You blog is a beautiful addition to my day. Thank you,
I get your emails
Hi Mary,
I love your blog and absolutely love peonies especially the Bella Donna and the Shirley Temple I subscribed and I also pinned some photos thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home and recipes with us.

I pinned some photos.
What a beautiful book and another generous giveaway Mary! I adore peonies and especially love Sarah Bernhardt and Shirley Temple! Thanks for the chance to win, I’m a long time follower and love your blog. ❤️🌸
I pinned your Ball Jar Bouquets! 🌸 Thanks for the chance to win!
So I have no idea all the names to tell you my favorite. My neighbor has a row of peonies that I get to enjoy each year and I have wanted to plant some of my own and book like this will definitely help that process. This book is stunning. Each peony is so beautiful. I love them all and only wished they bloomed longer. Thanks for the giveaway and I hope my comment will still count even though I can’t name a favorite. 😊🌸
Hi Mary, I love all peonies but a favorite is Sarah Bernhardt. I hope the bulbs I planted eventually produce flowers. 🤞That looks like a well photographed book to explore. Enjoy your day. Clara❤️
I am new to Peonies and would love to learn more! My favorite fat is also the Sarah Bernhardt.
What a beautiful post~peonies are just fabulous! For Mother’s Day I gave my mother a gorgeous peony called Gay Paree~it may be my new favorite. Thanks for the chance to win, love Georgianna Lane’s books & photos.
Take care,
Beth
I haven’t grown peonies since I lived in PA and we moved to SC in 2005 where I had no luck with them. But am going to plant them now that I am in VA! I love any pink flower but your Sarah Bernhardt is beautiful. I created a new folder in my garden folder on Pinterest called fav flowers and put one of your pictures of an individual peony in it. Thanks for the great pictures and the warm feeling I get when I read your blog. Peace
Oops guess I was suppose to leave a separate comment telling you I posted a picture from this article on Pinterest. I have always struggled with following directions 😝 Peace
I adore peonies but wish their season was longer so I could enjoy them more. I would be happy to win your lovely giveaway.
I subscribe and receive your beautiful posts via email.
Mary
I have always loved your floral pictures and arrangements Peopnies are my all time favorite! No certain color, all of them! Please enter me into the drawing.
I pinned your pretty photo of peonies in the bell jar and blue and white pitcher.
Good morning, Mary! The peonies are absolutely beautiful. The Sarah Bernhardt is my favorite, but it’s like choosing a favorite child when choosing a favorite peony. Each one has its own beauty. Thank you for this special giveaway!
Hi Mary, I absolutely love opening my email and seeing a post from you! I think peonies are such a beautiful flower and I really wish that I could grow them…Southern California desert dirt doesn’t let me. 😉So my favorite variety is the one they sell in Trader Joe’s! They are light pink and don’t have any frilly petals. In one of your posts, and again today, you shared a photo of peonies in a blue Bell jar. While out thrifting, I found one and now I use it for my TJ peonies. Thank you for the inspiration!
I pinned two photos today and I’m very grateful to follow you. I would love to win this giveaway.
Warm Regards,
Patti
I pinned the photo of the book cover to “gardening.” In case I don’t win, I will have a reminder to order this book, but I hope I win! Good luck to everyone!
I have light pink and a deep pink. Lewis Ginger Botanical Gardens in Richmond, Va has a yellow one. Thanks for sharing all this loveliness
I also grow peonies though its challenging in the South. It’s definitely worth the effort when I see my favorite Sarah Bernhardt peonies in full bloom. Love all the “eye candy” in this blog.
Lynne, Thrifting Wonderland
I love peonies and am thrilled to find that they love it here in my zone 7B in NC. I actually have 2 favorites. One is “Fancy Nancy” which is pink with a fluffy pink and white center. The other is a clump of my grandmother’s peonies from her yard in OH. My darling cousin sent them to me as a housewarming gift when we moved here to NC.
I have two special connections to peonies. First, as a young girl, I would help grandma clip them on Memorial Day weekend, wrap them in newsprint, pop them in her trunk and head to the cemetery to share them with grandpa. Secondly, my daughter just got married and insisted on having peonies in her beautiful bridal bouquet. I plan on buying her a peony bush for their first anniversary so she can enjoy their beauty long after the bridal blooms fade!
I pinned the Ball jar mantle display!
I am a regular subscriber and I have pinned the picture of the “Peonies” book surrounded by peonies. This looks like an awesome resource!
Peonies do not grow in my area, but in May I can order a bouquet of peonies from the florist. I do not know the different varieties but enjoy the ones that are offered here in May. A dear friend introduced me to peonies years ago and so they remind me of her.
What a lovely giveaway! How kind of you! I love all peonies! The frilly ruffled are my favorite like your Sarah Bernhardt Peony. I have pinned away to my garden board but also to my Favorite Blogs board. It’s quite remarkable… many of your photos are on this board.
Thank you always for such lovely pictures, creative captions and your generosity! 💗🌸
I had no idea there are so many different kinds. I just like them all ! They are so pretty with their pretty colors and their big showy heads. This gift is so pretty. Thank you for the chance to win ! I’d love it if I won !
Gorgeous! I had my first blooms this year—I’m a new gardener. They are my fav and I love them in arrangements. How sad their blooms are so short lived! 😫. Peonies, hydrangea and dahlias should be the official trifecta of the garden world! Would love to win the book for my library. It’s hard to beat a Sarah Bernhardt so she’s my fav!
I am an email subscriber. Love every post and would treasure the book on my favorite flower which I can not grow in the deep south.
What a wonderful gift you are giving. I love peonies! And I suppose my favorite peony is any peony that blooming. The fragrance … even the ants that come with them. 😁 Thanks for the opportunity to win such a lovely gift!
Hi Mary !! Thank you for sharing with all of us! I use to live in up state N.Y. where I had several in my yard! I now live in Florida, and miss the smell and the beauty of them! Thank you Linda
Don’t know any names but I have many memories of the row of peonies that grew along the backyard in my childhood home. They were beautiful dark red, pink and white. I think of them around memorial day along with bridal wreath and iris. If they were blooming then we would take a bouquet to the cemetery to put on graves. They’re beautiful flowers!
Thank you for sharing the peony love and beauty this morning Mary with such a wonderful giveaway! I love that you provided links at the bottom too as it solves a gift dilemma for my hard-to-buy-for gardener sister! My favorite variety peonies are Festiva Maxima and Sarah Bernhardt! I’m a follower and email subscriber, thanks for the chance to win. Jerrie
Pinned! 🌸 Jerrie
I love Peonies and maybe it is the brief time they bloom in my garden. Of course their beauty and wonderful fragrance has a lot to do with it too. This spring we didn’t have the Peony rain storms so they lasted a bit longer. My favorite is Sarah Bernhart which will scent a room with just a few blooms.
I try to add a few new varieties each year and the book you are giving away would be a great help in choosing which ones to plant here in the mid south.
I love Peonies…they are a beautiful flower. I’m not familiar with the different varieties.

Love love Peonies. My vote is sweet Sara Bernhardt! Color me pink! Love that old fashioned look.
It is a lovely book and a wonderful giveaway. Happy Friday, Mary!
I adore our peonies. I cut huge bouquets each Spring for several rooms in our home. I’ve recently read how to keep peony buds for up to 3 months. Next season, I will try this for sure!! Enjoy your blog and all the lovelies.
What a gorgeous book Mary! I love peonies, but rarely have them in my home because their season is short and they are hard to come by in my area. Such a lovely giveaway paired with the sweet pink scissors and hand soap!
Jenna
I have also subscribed to your blog via email and pinned one of the gorgeous peonies from your post to my Instagram “Garden of Earthly Delights “
Thank you for the many beautiful photos you post. Peonies are a favorite flower of mine. They will always remind me of my mom, who had these in her flower bed and would cut bouquets when I was young. I now have some of her original peonies transplanted in my yard as a constant reminder that life goes on in many beautiful ways and their sweet fragrance brings back memories of her love and the beautiful home she gave us.
Gorgeous post, I bought the book off your first pic! We are in a scorching heatwave and this looks so refreshing I couldn’t resist!
I pinned several peony pics from your posts. Clara ❤️
What a wonderful give away! My favorite peony’s name is unknown to me. When my mother, Jane, passed away and we were just finishing packing up to leave her house for the last time, I saw her peony out of the corner of my eye. My husband found the shovel and in an exhausted manner, plucked her from the ground to travel to our home in Texas. I didn’t know if she would live but knew I had to try! She has moved from Fort Worth to to east Texas to East Tennessee and has flourished more & more with every move. I love her but can only name her Jane’s peony! I did pin the photo of the book, scissors & peony and would be delighted to win.
I never see peonies being grown here in Texas, Mary. I do see the at Trader Joe’s …😊!!! Someone will be very happy with your generous giveaway. 💕
Mary , this peony fan would of course love such a book, even though we can’t grow peonies in my neck of the woods. I have to depend on Trader Joe’s and other flower markets to get my peony fix. Sadly, those sources have dried up, so lucky you to have them right outside your door. You know I admire anything you share, I spend a good amount of time scrolling up and down, zooming in on details. I think my favorite peonies are the Sarah Bernhardt, for the same reasons as yours. Those big, ruffly pink petals are swoon worthy.
Thanks for sharing all this beauty!
I love the BETTER TIMES Peony .. developed in the 1940’s. Those are the years of my youth . .and my Aunt Nannie, who raised me grew them and I remember her always humming softly while in her garden. She lived through ‘hard-times’ in her own youth and as she put a big bouquet of them in the middle of the dining table, she would always promise my brother, sister and I that ‘BETTER TIMES’ were coming. AND that so much of ‘better times’ depended on how we VIEWED ‘the times’.
Mary .. I always share your posts with my TRUE FRIENDS Facebook group. Your “Home is Where the Boat Is” … is my absolute FAVE!
Mary, beautiful post. My father grew peonies and I have grown them for 40 years. I had enough from my gardens on the ocean ( they like sandy soil) to decorate 20 tables for a fashion show each year. My husband is truly a master gardener and I have many in our home of 10 years. I continue to love the Sarah Bernhardt, , I have a very special Maxime de Cornu. She is a tree peony that is peach with pink inside and she smells like orange blossom. So rare and so beautiful. She is my exotic beauty. I love peony days so much. They came and went quickly with the early heat we had in Maine. Our peonies were always the last week of June . This year they started memorial Day weekend. Thank you for the peony book. I am going to order as well:)
Peonies are so gorgeous and full of Grace. I do wish the season was longer. My favorite is also the Sarah Bernhardt. My neighbor grows them on her flower farm. I have to take care of my squirrel problem before planting anymore flowers.
Dancing Butterflies, whose deep pink single petals flutter in the breeze.
Sarah Bernhardt would be my favorite but I love all of them! My parents had peonies as their flowers for their wedding on June 1. I always hope there are blooms to take to them that day. I pinned the picture of the peonies in ball jars in the window…beautiful. Thanks for your generosity in the give away!
When we sold and moved away from our old farm house I sadly had to leave my peonies behind. They were white with a bit of dark pink in the very centers and smelled divine. The blooms were so huge you could put your entire face in them and smell and feel their soft scrumptiousness. I miss them most out of all the flowers we had there. I’d love to be entered into your contest, I need to build a new peony garden. I subscribe and post your photos. AND I tell many friends about your blog. :-)
Peonies have always been some of my favorite flowers. I love the Sarah Bernhardt variety which I grow and an old-fashioned white variety which my mother has grown for over 75 years. They are truly beautiful.
I am swooning over your luscious photography today. My favorite peony is one developed by a grower from Rhode Island. It is called Francesca which happens to be my daughter’s name. It is a gorgeous burgundy color. Not surprisingly my daughter sent me peonies for Mother’s Day and each day I marveled as they opened and unfurled becoming more beautiful moment by moment.
What a wonderful giveaway! In our garden in our former home we had many Peony plants. Our favorite was a tree peony of profuse and huge pink flowers. We never knew the name as we bought blindly! When we moved we took it with us but sadly it did not survive 🙁. Moving to our townhouse we planted 3 Peonies : Sarah Bernhardt , a white one and a yellow one. All three bloomed this year! Success at last!
Thank you for having a give away! I have not met a peony that I didn’t love. I love the names. I love Miss America and Sarah Bernhardt.
My aunt in Va had a huge bank of very pale pink ones that usually bloomed for Memorial Day and we would take arrangements up to our family cemetery ❤️
I love the Sarah Bernhardt and I have a couple that are doing well so far. Thank you for the beautiful post!
I am a long time subscriber 😊
Mary,
Love your Blog. I submitted my email again. My favorite peony is the Sarah Bernhardt. It does well in my 7A zone. When my kids were small they would take a bouquet to their teacher during May before school was out. When I see them bloom it always brings back that memory! I pinned the picture of the peonies in the ball jar in the garden shed. I’m getting a green house built and am so excited!
Have a wonderful weekend!
I may have forgot to add my email so here it is .
I LOVE Peonies! I have a few different plants at my home but my favorite is Sarah Bernhard .
Like any other flower it’s hard to choose a favorite peony but I do love my Bowl of Beauty Peony. It has been blooming for 3 weeks in my garden through rain storms and heat while others don’t fair the beating so well. It has strong sturdy stems, pink guard petals around the edges and a mound of pale lemon yellow staminodes in the center. Even my granddaughter exclaimed “Beautiful!” as she walked by my plant.
Peonies from heaven, I sing each spring but alas, I do not have enough sun to grow them and they are expensive at the florists, so the book could satisfy my hunger.
Good Morning Mary. I adore peonies. Have grown them for years.Sarah Bernhardt is by far my favorite. Would be so pleased to win your give away. Have a great dau.
I pinned the photo of the jars on the shelf
I also receive your emails
I love love Peonies….and would LOVE the book! My favorite is the RED…I don’t know the name…this was also my father’s favorite…I know he can smell them from heaven because of their HEAVENLY scent!! GOOD LUCK EVERY ONE!!
It’s all about the aroma for me. The old fashioned Edulis Superba peony is my favorite for scent, color & form and that’s why, while beautiful to look at, the scent of the Jan van Leeuwen peony can be described as smelling like stinky gym socks. LOL Truth.
I have been a subscriber for many years!!
Peonies deserve their own board so I posted your photo featuring the beautiful “Peonies” book , the “Florabundance Swoon!” photo and the gorgeous photo “Stop and Smell the Peonies: Jar Ball Bouquets in the Potting Shed” to my Pinterest board.
Wow, that book cover is so swoon-worthy. Yes, I pinned the book cover. I have a favorite white peony but I have absolutely no idea its name. Long time subscriber as I love what you do with tablescapes and flowers. Such a great visual feast.
I pinned the picture below the word SWOON!! I pictured myself laying in the middle of all those peonies and the HEAVENLY SCENT that goes with them!!
Peonies are so beautiful, just not around long enough so one must plant many of them to enjoy! My favorite is one my aunt had and passed to me, Buckeye Belle. It is a deep maroon and just gorgeous! Thanks for the give away. The book looks like a wonderful way to spend the day enjoying the blooms any time of the year!
I do not know the names of the pink and red ones I have. They were given to me years ago by my late father in law. I dug them up 20 years ago when we moved and they bloom every year. Wish they lasted longer.
What a beautiful book allowing one to enjoy peonies any time of the year! My favorite was given to me by my aunt and it is Buckeye Belle, a deep maroon color. Thanks for your give away.
I am fairly new to this, I am still learning names and varieties . I don’t know if you will think this counts, but currently my favorite peony is
Peony
by CASTLETON (USA) . It’s a beautiful collection featuring the flower of the hour.
Peonies are my favorite flower, but I have never tried to grow them. They are not that prevalent in Texas with our heat. I have purchased a bulb and will try planting it this fall. Wish me luck. Of the peonies you pictured, I loved the Sarah Bernhardt.
Festiva Maxima
My aunt had many lovely peonies. After she died just before her 100th birthday, I was asked if I would like to have any of the plants from the house she had lived in after coming to America. They were going to sell her home. I made the trip and dug up as much as I could fit into my car. Bulbs, hydrangeas, roses and the peonies. The peonies are perhaps 75-80+ years old. The most fragrant I have ever smelled. None of mine equal the ones I dug from my aunt’s garden.
I have and love the Bella Donna i love all of them
How does one every choose a favorite? Well if I had to, I would say Cora Louise which is an Itoh peony. It’s large bi-colored blooms are stunning! I love Sarah Bernhardt for the reliable steadfastness and lush perfume. And since I collect green flowers, I am obsessed with Green Lotus. It’s a smaller delicate peony bloom but so interesting and different.
I love your site and everything you post! The peonies are beautiful and something I’ve always wanted to plant. The Sarah Bernhardt is gorgeous. I especially like the one that is sort of a coral color. I would enjoy learning more about them and trying my hand at growing some. Thank you for such beautiful pictures and ideas!
Honestly, I have never learned the names of different varieties. When I was small, my mom had one small bed of white, tinged with red. I thought they were beautiful. I didn’t even know there were other colours out there until I was older. Then I saw the reds and pinks and then I didn’t think the white was so pretty…haha…I have never grown any though, but still always admire them in peoples gardens…
Looks like the Sarah Bernhardt would be my fave. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a real peony. We can’t grow them here in So Cal. Not cold enough. But they are beautiful and I’ve always admired them from seeing them in so many of you bloggers yards. Truly magnificent!
My favorite peony is an old heirloom variety my parents grew, called “Hermione”. Luscious pink double blooms! They are the happiest and most wonderful flowers.
Long time subscriber, and pinned to Instagram. Just seeing these photos made me smile. Thanks for the beauty and the giveaway!
Planted a peony 3 years ago, never bloomed but lots of leaves. This year it had one bud!!! It began opening the day I was leaving for a 3 week road trip. I cut the bud, put it in a water bottle, and it accompanied me through 4 states and finally gave up her petals in Montana. After 3 years I no longer remember the variety, but will always remember the bloom.
There is nothing like the scent of Peony to take me back to my midwest childhood. My favorite flower of all is the peony, and the Sara Bernhardt is my favorite old-fashion feeling flower. My pin went into the picture of the book/blooms surrounded by the giveaway gifts. Thank you for never leaving me empty with your beautiful blog. Your grace and written word are precious.
Oh what a beautiful book Mary and what a most generous giveaway!….Just to say that Sarah Bernhardt is my fav…I planted one and has not bloomed yet…Crossing my fingers it will next year!…I have some peonies (from TJ’s) in the living room now and what a most subtle fragrance they are giving out….Have a most wonderful weekend Mary!!
I like them all and couldn’t choose a favorite. Receive your letter and pinned a Peony.
Marion
I love all peonies! I am a subscriber and love your blog for inspiration and beautiful pictures! I recently purchased a set of peachy pink peonies ( the set was called bridal bouquet) from a catalogue. I’m excited to see how they will turn out in my garden!
All of the varieties are my favorite. Thank You for the chance to win.
Joan
Mary any Peonie that is Pink is my favorite. Thank You for the chance to win this generous giveaway.
Marilyn
I am a novice gardener. I am sometimes successful with a plant!! I try to lavish lots of care to them, but I think I overdo it and kill them with kindness.
I do admire all these beautiful blossoms and have decided that I am going to try my luck with a ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ peony. I see you have one in your garden which makes me swoon when you photograph it.
So wish me luck :)))
My favorite peony is the Sarah Bernhardt as well. Beautiful pics and the book looks fantastic!
I love peonies! My grandmother grew them for years. Whenever I visited, she would always send me home with a large bouquet. I now have one peony bush of my own.
Sarah Bernhardt is my all time favorite!
Peonies are my ultimate all time favorite flower. Unfortunately, here in Michigan for the past two years, we have had a hard freeze in May and most of the blooms didn’t make it. My favorite peony is Shirley Temple. A vase full will perfume a whole room.
Sarah Bernhardt was my grandmother’s and mother’s favorite and therefore is mine too. What a lovely display and functional book.
I bought this book for myself about 2 years ago and keep it out all the time,it fills me with such joy looking at them.
Your blog is one of only about 4 that i follow but because I already have the book would not want to be added to the list to receive it. I do know who ever wins will not be disappointed
My favorite peony is Sorbet, with its light and dark pink ruffles. What a beautiful book and prize, Mary! Thanks for the chance to win. :)
What a glorious book. I love peonies and they remind me of my Mom who always had peonies. Every variety is beautiful but I do favor the Sarah Bernhardt. This book sounds as if it’s a huge help to keep peonies thriving. I’d love to have it in my library.
Would LOVE to have this book as I dearly love peonies as did my mother. They are all gorgeous but Sarah Bernhardt is a real beauty. Love your posts.
I’m nostalgic and love the Shirley Temple peonies. But mostly I love the books/pictures because I get to see them all year long. Such beautiful girls to admire!!
Thank you for sharing all the lovely Peonies. My favorite is Karl Rosenfield; love the color and the fragrance.
Truth be told, I am enamored with ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ as its soft, fluffy pink petals remind me of a ballerina’s skirt. The friend who gave me my first digging is a ballerina, so it also reminds me of Judy and our friendship. My favorite peony in my garden came from my dad’s garden. He grew two colors of peonies all along the west side of our home: one was a deep, burgundy red, and the other was fragrant and white. I’m so happy that he shared diggings of both with me. He moved to heaven in 2008, so every year that they bloom, I am reminded of his love and kindness. In going through my parents’ belongings, I found a receipt from 1962 from a garden center. It said that one of the peonies was called ‘Kansas,’ so its my assumption that is what I have in my garden. I have given diggings of it to others over the years and it always warms my heart when I see my dad’s peonies growing the the gardens of my friends.
Beautiful post ! My favorite is Sarah Bernhardt
Iive never met a peony i didnt love. ❤️ Thanks for sharing about the beautiful book!!!
What a beautiful giveaway! I enjoy Georgiana Lane’s books so much. She is such a gifted photographer! Thanks for hosting the giveaway.
I never liked the peonies because of the ants. But now that I know the ants serve a purpose, I like them so much more. They were my mothers favorite. I didn’t even know they had names until now. But they are so beautiful. Like everyone else, I wish their season were longer.
Love my Festiva Maximus I also love your daily emails!!!
I pinned peonies in a Ball jar with transfer ware…3 favorites!!!!
Prairie Moon Peonies are my favorite!

I love the Sarah Bernhardt as well, but really they are all just lovely
So many varieties, Bowl of Beauty is special. Living in AZ only can get them in the floral shops/departments. Grew up with them in my father’s backyard garden. Besides their beauty the memories are what make them extra special.
Peonies are my favorite flowers. Shirley Temple is loved. I don’t care what variety. My Grandmother had a tiny secret garden that had peonies in it and that’s where my love for them started.
Bella Donna is it!
I dont know the name of my fav but its white with dark pink tips. It was my mother’s and I took a piece of it before my childhood home was sold. She is gone 20 years now but it still feels like a little piece of her ❤
I have only one unknown named peony that is a soft pink and smells wonderful. It (tubers actually) traveled from a garden of mine in the Midwest to two of my sister’s gardens. It moved with me to a couple more gardens but didn’t make the move to Florida. I now have the one unknown pink, fragrant peony from the original in my yard that came from my sister. How could this not be my favorite peony ? I was so impressed with how many people have peonies that came from loved ones. Love your blog and pinned a photo .
Elegance at it’s best is the peony!
I’m a subscriber and pinned your stunning mason jar photo.
The romantic and fragrant are my favorites with Sarah Bernhardt
At the top of the list and yes it looks very much like a rose.
Beautiful post Mary.
Oops!
Just came back to get info to order “Ball” jars (not mason)
for my daughter …Senior moment!
I love all peonies and have since I was a little girl! I can’t grow them where I live now and I really miss them. My Grandma use to put them in Mason Jars for Memorial Day (she called it Decoration Day) and put them on family graves. I have gotten my daughter-in-law started on growing them! The pictures you posted are beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing!
Dear Mary,
What would I do with this beautiful book? I’d gift it to someone who appreciates the beauty of peonies – our 23-year-old daughter. She’s always had an affinity for peonies and she’s remarked that they’re even more special to her than roses! Recently we made a mother/daughter date to visit a Minnesota peony farm to determine some of her favorites (Felix Supreme and New Millennium) and plant them on our property. We’ll enjoy the peonies because they’re our daughter’s favorite flower and pick bouquets for special events – maybe even a future wedding for either our daughter or her twin brother!
