The Book: Victoria: The Art of Tea Recipes & Rituals
This lovely book goes beyond recipes, inviting you into the art of tea as a daily practice. Inside, you’ll find thoughtful tea rituals, inspired pairings, and recipes that celebrate tea as both comfort and ceremony. It’s a favorite tea book you’ll want to pore (or pour over ;) and keep on a side table, or near your teapot to revisit with each new season.

Readers of this beautiful book from the editors of Victoria magazine are invited to savor the pleasures and possibilities of the cherished ritual of tea shared by people the world over. Divided into four sections, this exquisitely photographed volume offers page after page of ideas for making teatime an unforgettable experience. Begin by learning the essentials, from differentiating the various types of tea to learning the “tools of the tray” and how to brew the perfect pot.

Recipes for classic scones and the traditional accompaniments, such as lemon curd and clotted cream, are also included. The Celebrations chapter is filled with inspiration, tips, and recipes for planning special occasions, whether it’s a summertime gathering with butterfly-adorned china and a menu that includes delicate lavender cream scones or an outdoor setting to celebrate Mother’s Day, where roses–both botanical and edible–are the order of the day.

Since presentation is such an important part of any event, readers will discover a treasure trove of brilliant ways for creating the perfect tea affair from start to finish. With a basic “tea primer” leading off this section, the visual journey continues with beautiful linens, china, silver, and floral arrangements before addressing the details–those grace notes that make all the difference in a tableau.

And for journeys of a different kind, the spotlight shines on some of the editors’ favorite tea destinations, both stateside and abroad. Among the featured venues are the gilded grandeur of San Francisco’s Palace Hotel and the history-steeped environs of The Williamsburg Inn in Virginia and Washington, D.C.’s Willard Hotel. For those whose adventures go beyond America’s borders, they’ll add The Empress in Canada, Ashford Castle in Ireland, and Bettys Café Tea Rooms in England to their must-visit lists.

Feast your eyes on these beautiful and mouth-watering pages!

There were plenty of sweet offerings to tempt me including Pecan-Thyme Shortbread Cookies, Orange-Tarragon Mini Bundt Cakes, Strawberry-Hazelnut Tartlets and Lavender Cream Scones, to name a few. Along with savory tea sandwiches. . .

Almost too pretty to eat!

Tea time is such a lovely ritual to enjoy during a crisp, beautiful spring morning or cold, wintry afternoon!
And my favorite tea time delight is to enjoy it with a delicious ginger scone or two!
I have been a subscriber & enjoyed your captivating blog for many years and look forward to many more.
Green tea and my home made cream scone
Mary, I’m a long time follower and my favorite tea is Earl Grey and I love cucumber sandwiches! The book looks beautiful and the winter tea sampler looks wonderful. ☕Thank you for the opportunity to win.
We have a tea party group with a monthly gathering. I’d love to add to my repertoire with such a beautiful book. I have a special mail folder named “HOW TO” and it is populated with all your posts.
This is a really nice giveaway and informative post, Mary. I converted to tea almost exclusively last year when I found Yogi brand Tangerine tea. It is great both hot and cold. While I pinned the photo of the book, I added that black matte teapot to my shopping list. I love the bluetooth features and wow, it’s 1200 watts, more than my microwave! And those teacups are a really great price of just $6 each. I have several teapots to make presentation beautiful, but in the end, it’s all about functionality and personal taste. I really enjoy your tea series with Pam and your invited guests, and how you make such a beautiful ritual of the pleasure of tea.
Love your content. Thanks for introducing me to Harney teas—what a find!
I’m a long time subscriber and these days I’m enjoying Scottish Breakfast Tea that I brought from Edinburgh. I love starting my day quietly with a cup of tea and an orange cranberry scone from Trader Joe’s. Just me and my cat Bob.
Good morning! How I love your blogs especially the tea celebrations! Victoria’s beautiful book features my favorite pattern – my grandmother’s plates match the center bouquet. Thank you for your wonderful site.
A teatime favorite is the classic lemon bar. I am a subscriber and have pinned the cover picture.
Cinnamon Apple Spice Tea and mini-muffins
I enjoy a cup of black tea on Sunday mornings. I don’t have a special treat that I like but it probably would be cucumber sandwiches. I pinned the cup of tea with the heart infuser to my Tea Party board. Thank you for your generosity.
You made me realize I should use my teacups more instead of a mug. Take the time to boil water instead of using the microwave. Tea time should be a time to relax My favorite tea has to be Earl Grey with a buttery fruit scone.
My favorite teatime treat is a cup of English Breakfast Tea and 2 Walkers Shortbread Cookies. Tea is my go to anytime of the day.
What a wonderful giveaway, Mary!! I am a longtime follower and my favorite tea is a spearmint or an Earl Grey. And both pair nicely with buttery shortbread, especially on a cold winter afternoon.
Shortbread cookies with Earl Grey black tea.
Thank you!
I posted to my Pinterest page under “Teapots & Tea Parties”
Love my breakfast tea every morning and green tea with shortbread in the afternoon ❤️
I’m a subscriber and pinned a pic in my “garden party” folder from this gorgeous book. I so need to add this to my tea library! Thank you for a beautiful, inspiring post on a cold and snowy morning (again) in Virginia! A perfect day for a cuppa….or 2 or 3 or 12…..❄️☕️
What a lovely book, Mary, and such beautiful photos. Tea has always been the beverage of choice and now I still pause every afternoon for a cup of tea and savor some quiet moments. My current favorite is an Irish breakfast tea to start the day. I’ve been enjoying your blog for years and hope to do so for many more. Thanks for sharing the book.
Lynne
I love your blog and have started a Tea on Tuesday event at our local Women’s Club and it has been a great success! My favorite teas are black teas. I enjoy various flavors. Scones and clotted Cream are my favorite treats. I subscribe to your blog and look forward to it. ,
I would love to win a copy of this beautiful book! No one does a “tea table” prettier than you! My favorite goodie to go with a cup of strong tea is one of my granddaughters cranberry orange scones!!! Her secret is grating the cold butter!!!I would have to share any winnings with ( Olivia ) since she is also a fan of teatime ❤️thank you for your inspiration !
What a beautiful book. I am hoping to do a tea party fund raiser for our local food pantry and this would give me some great ideas I am sure. My favorite tea time goodie is a true Irish scone. Thank you for this opportunity to win.
I pinned a photo and also became a Pinterest follower.
Nothing better than a cream tea afternoon. A cup of black tea and a couple of scones with jam and clotted cream.
I am a long time coffee lover, actually an addict. But in the winter, at about 4:00, I love to cozy up to the fireplace with a delicate mug of tea, in my cozy socks, with Alexa playing instrumental jazz, and read a good book. Don’t you just want to join me?
I enjoy Earl Grey and/or Peach Ginger tea with scones.
Mary, thank you for this beautiful blog post! Victoria Magazine often publishes tea scapes and recipes. My all time favorite cucumber sandwich is a tattered page from one of their magazines. I have just come down with the local cold bug and tazo green ginger has risen to the top of my canister. I usually enjoy it iced in the summer. My winter favorites are both stash teas…double bergamot earl gray for afternoon sips and peppermint at night. I must now get the double bergamot earl gray decaffeinated…doctors orders, and stash offers it loose! We have a local tea and spice company so I have forgone my mom and grandmas china tea cups for their stone ware mug with tilt and tip strainer and a lid!
The Laura Ashley teapot is pretty. The silver tea strainer spoon is gorgeous. I love a dainty sandwich but cheese straws are a favorite. My granddaughter wants a tea party every single time she comes to our house. She likes cookies and crackers with little pepperonis – ha!
This is such a lovely giveaway, Mary!
I believe I am a teaaholic with an intense, passionate love for tea. I start my day every morning with English Breakfast. Though I do adore a scone with my tea, because of the waistline, I cannot indulge in one every day.
I have been a longtime follower and subscriber.
Where can I find the Book??? I want to give as a Sweet 16 gift to my Great Niece.. She is a tea enthusiast !
Hi Patti, It’s a beautiful book, there is a link highlighted that takes you to Amazon. The book is out of stock at Victoria. ☕
My favorite tea is Harney and Sons cinnamon stick. it is strongly cinnamon, and almost tastes like dessert. I’d recommend it to you except I recommend it to my aunt and it was two cinnamony for her so she gave the rest to me, which isn’t totally bad, is it? I also enjoy tart cherry scones that I make. I use dried cherries and honestly these are the best scones I have ever tasted.
Mary, what a generous and beautiful giveaway! I love the teatime magazine and have several teatime recipe books but not this one! The photos look amazing!
I recently tried the Republic of Tea’s Lady Mary’s Race Day blend and enjoy it with homemade shortbread cookies. Delicious!!
I have been a subscriber for more than a decade, as I think back, maybe two. I’m not sure how long you’ve been blogging, but I’ve been with you from the very beginning. All of your posts are so lovely and I really think you need to come out with a book so that I can page through it anytime I like.
I have pinned a photo from this post.
Tea time is my favorite time. I just loved your post. I never knew there were so many accessories available for tea. I do have the tea strainer you posted. It’s a game changer for making a pot with loose tea. My favorite tea is a tea name Tea room. It’s just a lovely blend. Perfect! Now to go with it, there nothing like a good scone, although I made your Almond Dove sugar cookies the other day and they were exceptional. I made heart shaped ones. The Best recipe, easy to make and roll out. It will be my go to from now on. Thank you!!!
I forgot to mention. I am a follower of your posts. I look forward to getting it in my email box. I also pinned your whole post to my “Tea Time” board in Pinterest.
Mary, I pinned the photo of the book cover and saved the the tea tools you suggested to my Amazon list! Also my apologies for saying teatime books when this one is from Victoria! I love that magazine too! The pages are always filled with beautiful images.
There are so many beautiful things in this post. I enjoy collecting teacups and teapots. I adore the black one because of the spout. Take care. Clara❤️
I pinned the picture of the book and tea bags so I will be able to easily find them. I would love to try each one. My favorite time for tea is, gosh, I don’t think I can pick a favorite time, but I do love after dinner when I can relax for the day with my kitty, Sammy, a good book and of course a cup of tea.
My favorite tea is a raspberry flavored tea. I love Turkey tea sandwich using cranberry walnut bread. Thank you for this generous giveaway! Pinned!!
I’m pretty loyal to Republic of Tea, their Ginger Peach is present at every tea party! Subscriber for years, and pinning the basket full of teacups. I really like that idea- I think for our next gathering, it would be a charming presentation to let guests choose their cup. Thank you for another beautiful giveaway and visual treat.
I have 3 favorite teas. The first one is Holiday Tea by G.H. Ford. Perfect blend of apples, oranges, cinnamon, and cloves blended with Chinese Keemun tea. I would fix my son a thermos of Holiday Tea for his hunting trips. The second favorite is Chocolate Mint by Harney and Sons. I would fix that when I would be craving a late-night snack. The third favorite is Apricot Tea by Ashby’s. Which is a blend of ripe apricots with China Black Keemun tea. This one is my anytime tea.
Thank you for your cozy post this morning (especially as we woke up to a drippy fog and chilling temps!) My go to tea is Earl Grey, especially Stash brand, Morning in Paris, which adds a bit of bergamot & lavender to the mix. I love the book profiled and if I win will be gifting it to my sister as she is a tea lover and loves Victoria magazine. I pinned the Plum Deluxe tea picture as I’m a native Oregonian and see that it’s a Portland based company. Thank you for all the prettiness you post!
My favorite tea is Earl Gray. I have been following you and your pups for many years. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
My favorite tea…hmmmm…depends on the season, the day of the week, the weather….but today I had the Republicans of Tea’s Lady Mary’s Green Rooibos with hibiscus sweetened a little more with their jasmine cream honey! Ooh so good! This book looks delicious! Thank you for doing this. Peace.
Hi Mary. This is a lovely giveaway. The book is beautiful and I know whoever wins will enjoy it Immensely!
Mary, since our area has become an official Winter Wonderland, I have begun to enjoy my own little tea every afternoon. Whether it be raspberry, chamomile or rose hip, I love it with a splash of cream.
Thank you for your inspiration always !
Stay cozy, Kathy
I have also pinned planning a tea party on my Pinterest board

Long time subscriber that adores tea on Tuesday posts! This book looks amazing and I haven’t heard of the Oregon hazelnut orange tea – must try! My current favorite tea is mint peach by charbrew. I pinned several photos as they were too beautiful to choose!
Hi I like the fruit flavored teas
I enjoy having a nice large cup of hot green tea, and two slices of cinnamon raisin toast with peanut butter on them cut into squares. I always love getting your emails…
Oh, Mary! I am sitting here with goosebumps. What a fantastic and generous giveaway. Oh my word. Well that book is so full of stunning pics it is mind-boggling! And those teas sound incredible!!!! WOW, yes ma’am, please count me in! In this post I first pinned your pretty stack of floral teacups on that beautiful floral tablecloth – to remind me amidst all this snow and cold that spring will come. Sometimes we just need to visually make it so. ♥
I am a long time subscriber of course, and my fav tea treat? Well my very fav is H and S “Paris.” With it my fav tea treat is a scone or shortbread cookie. With a straight-forward unflavored black tea my fav treat with it is lemon bread. And I stopped making it after I tried Aldi’s sliced lemon cake/bread. It is so moist and delicious and can’t make it for that price. HIGHLY recommend if you have an Aldi’s anywhere near you. Thank you for the giveaway!!!!
My favorite tea right now is Bengal Tiger by Celestial seasonings.it has spices& carob & when it gets cool it becomes sweeter tasting! Thanks for the contest! 🩷🫖🐅
My neighbor dries her own teas and my favorite is a tea facial! However, I love peach teas so I would say that was my favorite drinking tea along with shortbread cookies. Pinned!
My very tea time treat is a freshly baked scone, done properly without using eggs!
Tea and cookies are the best tea time. I am a subscriber. Pinned The tower of tea cups.
Marion
What a beautiful giveaway, Mary. It’s too hard to choose a favorite tea as I love trying so many. As for a treat, I do love a delicious scone for sure. Your tea products that you’ve displayed are so pretty and would be great gifts for any tea lover.
Hi, Mary, I am a long time subscriber and I love your blog. My favorite tea is cinnamon by Bigelow. I love it especially with Walker’s Shortbread. Thanks for the giveaway. I pinned the beautiful teacups.
Hi Mary! Love the book. My favorite tea is lemon ginger, but my favorite changes frequently. My favorite tea time treat is a lemon blueberry scone. I pinned the book cover to my Tea Party Pinterest board. Interestingly, I just bought the Laura Ashley stove top tea kettle on Amazon last month. But I bought the navy kettle with brightly colored birds.
Hello,
I pinned the book the photos are lovely! My favorite tea is “Constant comment”
Always enjoy your blog.
Thank you
There is nothing as heart warming as sharing tea with a friend or two. A cup of Earl Grey and a cucumber sandwich are my favorites. Victoria magazine has been a favorite of mine for years, the pictures and the recipes are wonderful. Thank you for your pictures and recipes also, I have tried many of your recipes and loved them all! Your blog is already posted on my Pinterest page.
On a long winter afternoon I like a pot of Lapsang Suchong tea with home made white chocolate/orange scones. I found the recipe years ago in a magazine and fortunately hand copied it into my recipe book, the magazine is long gone and I do not remember what it was. Lapsang Suchong is my favorite tea for winter, smoky and deep, great for a quiet contemplative afternoon.
My favorite tea is chai! So warming and spicy! I am a subscriber and I pinned a photo.
My favorite teas are Earl Grey and Mint Medley. I drink Earl Grey every morning: My favorite tea treats are cucumber sandwiches with Boursin cheese on pumpernickel bread.,
Mary, again a lovely post. Pictures are so pretty. They make me want to have friends over soon. I love sitting in the late afternoon with a cup of Orange Pekoe tea and a slice of walnut loaf and cream cheese. If I am lucky my break may coincide with the birds at my feeder late in the afternoon. I pinned the picture from the book of the History of Tea. Would love to learn more about the origins of the tea rituals
Think the post has inspired me to bake today. Going to be a brutal weekend here in Virginia. Tea and some treats will be just the break my husband and I need.
HI Mary, I enjoyed this post very much. Some of the pics from the book made me start to dream of spring and tea on the patio, so I pinned the photo of the candelabra on the garden wall. I am going to do that when my dearest old friend comes for tea. I love making the extra effort for a special tea time! My favorite tea is chai and I enjoy a fruity cookie with it. This winter it has been date and nut pinwheel cookies, but soon I will be craving the bright citrus flavors of spring!
Thank you!
Ironically I had just prepared a cup of hot tea so I could sit down and enjoy reading this post. My favorite tea is Earl Grey.
I pinned the photo of the red and white transfer tea pot – so lovely!
My favorite tea right now is La Matin Noel by Stash teas.
My favorite tea is always Earl Gray with a lovely fruit scone!

My favorite time to drink tea is in the midafternoon in the winter with a cookie or two–Earl Gray most often. Very warming and comforting.
Mary, like the White Rabbit, I’m late to the party! I did stop by earlier, but life here as been busy away from my computer, and I didn’t finish my comment. As always, your posts bring such inspiration and joy tomy days. I never tire of your beautiful photos and the way you generously share your creativity. The book is lovely, and just the sight of it had me pulling down my small collection of tea time books. I need to add this one. I have their earlier edition, Celebrating Tea. My favorite tea has long been Marco Polo by Mariage Freres and a favorite tea time treat would be a lemon tart. I do like to try other flavors of tea, and a favorite autumn and winter tea is Harney & Son’s Hot Cinnamon Sunset. I bought Harney & Son’s Valentine’s Day tea recently. It’s a chocolate tea with rosebuds. I have to say the strong chocolate aroma is a bit much for me, but the tea does is pleasant. The tin is pretty! Have you tried it?
Happy Valentine’s Day!
I enjoy drinking peach tea, green tea,and I love so many of the flavored tea.Drinking my cup of hot tea on a cold morning or evening.
Mary, what a pretty post! All the pictures are so relaxing. I like to drink black tea with orange cranberry scones. After seeing all the pretty teacups I believe I need one! I pinned the basket with the teacups and flowers, maybe I need 3 teacups to fill my basket! 😊
Thank you for the lovely ideas.
Hi Mary! This blog is so timely! I lost my husband two years and I’m finally coming up for air and planning a tea party for my 5 dearest friends who helped and supported me through this life changing journey. As usual, your blog is so beautiful and full of great tips and products. I actually love Plum Deluxes Toasted Marshmallow tea. It is delicious without need of honey or cream and I own a tea bag buddy! It’s such an easy way to steep your tea, while keeping it warm and easy to squeeze the tea bag and toss without drips or burning your fingers. I have pinned a photo. Thank you for aways brightening my day, Jane
Thank you Mary! I always enjoy your blog. Such a beautiful, calm read in this crazy world climate….like a breath of fresh air! Keep them coming! Jane
My favorite tea is Chi, hot, and a good book.
I love maple/pecan scones and darjeeling tea. A winning combo.
Hot Earl Grey and a biscotti! Although, we remember my mom with tea and a Krispy Kreme doughnut on her birthday as they were her favorite!
Love everything about this post ! LOVE teatime – at home everyday, with friends on our screen porch, or on trips. My favorite treat would be scones with clotted cream and jam. And Lady Grey tea is my favorite. I buy tea cups at yard sales and thrift shops so that when I host a tea your tea cup is your favor to take home. Tea – love it ! Thanks for the opportunity to win this great tea prize!
Lovely post! I don’t drink hot tea often enough, probably because I live in such a warm climate, Savannah, Ga. For the last several years I have been buying Moomin teas from Finland when I visit my son there. They come in a variety of flavors with delightful names. I like to sip a big hot mug at home and savor a cookie or two if I have any. Then I wonder why I don’t do it more often! Would love to see the tea book to get more inspiration. Love all your recipes too!
I like all of your valentine stuff, tea cups and the red heart plate with a snowman in the middle.I just recently started making Scones, the cinnamon and sugar ones look good, and lemon blueberry.
Long time subscriber here. My grandmother was born in the 1800’s. She had a mystery pantry that held green tea. I like rooibus tea. I have to have that silicone cap to hold the tea bag string. I also buy coffee in tea bags. What a convenience.
Earl Grey tea is my favorite! Every morning
I am a new subscriber and afternoon tea lover! My favorite is definitely a scone with lashings of clotted cream and strawberry jam. I love making my own clotted cream!
I absolutely love tea. Lipton Tea is my favorite although I will occasionally buy a box of herbal teas that come in a variety of flavors. I’ve just brewed some tea this morning. Enjoy. ☕
Hello Mary,
I have followed you for years. For some reason lately when I open your posts on my email I get a blank square instead of the picture. I cannot have this….you are one of my if not my favorite posts to read…lol!
Do you have any insight on what I can do to remedy this? If you\’re as stumped as I am I will check with Apple but I thought possibly you might have a suggestion on how to fix this.
I have restarted my computer and cleared my cookies but to no avail.
Thanks Mary….I cannot wait to get back on board!
