I love all things Christmas including the traditional red and green, merry plaids and evergreens! Decking the table, as well as the halls, brings me joy and cheer so I’m happy to be joining a group of 20 table stylists for a Christmas Tablescape Blog Hop!

My Christmas pattern, St. Nicholas by Fitz & Floyd (1978 – 1996) provided the table inspiration along with “A Visit from St. Nicholas”, more commonly known as “The Night Before Christmas” by Clement C. Moore.
Without further ado, here’s A Visit From St. Nicholas Christmas Tablescape:
‘Twas two weeks before Christmas and all ‘round the table,
I placed the red, green and plaid, as much as I was able.
‘St. Nicholas’ now retired, I received as a bride~
When a piece of it breaks, I have sat down and cried.
The stump of Nick’s pipe is lit you can see,
By evidence of smoke rising next to the tree.
Red garland is swagged and placed carefully,
Candles cast a warm glow, illuminating the tree.
A candy cane here, a star placed there,
A reindeer helper is doing his share.
For a table centerpiece, I gathered some greenery~
Clipping and cutting from the shrubs and the scenery.
A natural runner created from boxwood and cypress~
Bright shiny ornaments then added, providing some brightness.
Candy canes, magnolia and pine cones were sprinkled,
Mercury glass votives were lit for some twinkle.
The glass how it twinkles, reflections how merry,
Red goblets, a shade between roses and cherry.
Beaded candy cane napkin rings add sparkle & shine~
I saw them at Pier 1 & said to myself, “Mine!”
They matched bread & butter plates you can see~
When I spied them, I clapped, then squealed with glee!
The mice are not stirring, they’re sleeping instead~
The shaker set holder, a shoe for their bed.
More reindeer arrive, which ones I don’t know,
Maybe Dasher? or Dancer? Raring to go.
Prancer? or Vixen? I don’t know their names~
I’m ashamed to admit, they all look the same.

Mary, this is fabulous! From the smoking Santa (really, Santa??) to the expression on the helping deer’s face, those plates have incredible detail that may have otherwise been overlooked without your creatively descriptive take on the story. The napkin rings – I would’ve squealed too, what a match! And those adorable s&p shakers are too cute. Last but certainly not least, your centerpiece is terrific, love the red ornaments with design in the candy cane centers.

One of favorites and that’s saying a lot because I love them all. We do reselling on eBay and you have a fortune sitting on that table with that retired pattern from Fitz and Floyd. They are dear on eBay. I would cry too if I lost a piece!

Beautiful table. Love your Fitz and Floyd. Especially the salt & pepper. Have never seen those. There used to be a Fitz & Floyd warehouse where I live and I collected a lot of items during that time. But I never saw the mice.

I have always loved Fitz and Floyd anything and everything! The Christmas china is gorgeous and yes, I would cry too if something broke! The napkin rings caught my eye immediately, so CUTE, and I can’t believe how well they mimic the candy cane plates! Your traditional table of red, plaid and green is Christmas itself in a tidy package! I enjoy modern takes on holiday decorating, but the traditional colors and cozy decor is always my favorite. You know I loved your poetry Mary! I am very excited about the hop this week, and you have started it off with a bang!

Mary, I love seeing this table again. It’s just the cutest! Love that you received the Christmas plates as a bride. St. Nicholas by Fitz & Floyd has always been one of my favorite patterns. We don’t have Christmas china, but a close friend has this pattern. I’ve dined on it many times through the years. The little mouse S&P in the shoe is adorable.
