Lakeside Dining: Spring Table by the Azaleas

Spring has sprung here in North Carolina! Between the rain showers and storms,

I had a window of beautiful spring weather to enjoy some welcome sunshine

and a little alfresco dining last week!

The azaleas were in bloom and it was a “nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina in the morning”

kind of day, with blue skies, low humidity and temperatures in the 60s.

I wish I could place an order for weeks of this mild spring weather. . .

the temperatures are climbing close to 90 degrees today.

A table runner with a blooming watering can, butterflies and bunny & chick

with eggs provided the inspiration for a table the week before Easter.

Hilltop Garden Friends gathered at the table. . .

Bunnies and a watering can were blooming for a centerpiece. . .

I cut some snowball viburnum and azaleas, to join some hydrangeas

leftover from a blooming table runner.

The watering can and taller bunny can hop over to the patio wall

while dining so not to block anyone’s view at the table.

When Lola’s not wearing her bunny ears, she wants to be close by to supervise. . .

She’s content to watch and nap from her portable pen on the patio.

The Japanese Maple is always beautiful when it leafs out the beginning of spring!

How refreshing to see such a beautiful outdoor table setting in idyllic weather! Very inviting. Mary, can you tell me whether you got the floral napkin rings recently, and where? Thank you!

Thank you Maureen! The napkin rings are from MacKenzie-Childs last year. :)

Your azaleas are gorgeous, a few of ours here in northeastern North Carolina are still blooming but most are now past their prime. Your table is beautiful as always, you have so much talent for pulling things together. The weather here has been beautiful since the storms past by, just perfect for pulling weeds and cleaning up the garden. Have a great day.

Wow that was beautiful! Love the runner’s details and how you repeated the theme with your own watering can. The azaleas and viburnum couldn’t be more beautiful! I really love those bunny dishes and Lola is precious!

Wow, what a beautiful table. Your azaleas are drop dead gorgeous! The view of the lake is so pretty and everything on the table is a wow! That runner is adorable and your flowers in the bunnies and watering can are so pretty for an Easter Alfresco table. I adore the plates and perfect napkins for your table.
Glad the storms didn’t bring you damage. We had wind and our yard and driveway were covered in limbs and leaves. We went to our daughters for a long weekend for Easter and went off and left all the mess. Thankfully on returning home yesterday, our yard service had cleaned it up.
The weather is so perfect! Wouldn’t it be nice if it could stay like this for several months? I finally got around to set an outside table that wasn’t in a blog hop. IIt seems we can’t stay home long enough and are off to visit our son in a few days. I may be absent from blogs for a short time. Grandkids keep you busy!

She looked so lonesome laying on that little couch!! Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day!! 💐🐰🐥🐇💐

Absolutely gorgeous setting and beautiful tablescape as usual. You are such an inspiration! I just LOVE your light pink azaleas with the dark pink centers. Can you tell me the name of that one – is it Conversation Piece Azalea by any chance? It’s just beautiful.

This time of year in NC is so beautiful with the blooming azaleas !
May I inquire where you purchased your wicker chairs ?

    • April 24, 2019 at 5:33 pm

Hi Donna, they’re all weather wicker chairs from Pottery Barn. We’ve had them about 5 years and they’ve held up really well.

It truly does look like spring has sprung Mary! I love your cute table runner:@)

  34. April 24, 2019 at 8:47 pm

Oh what a joy it would be to sit at this table, surrounded by such gorgeous spring blooming bushes and that VIEW!!!! I could sit there all day. We are lucky this week in that we have our 6 year old granddaughter all week and the weather has been perfect. She and I dined alfresco today for lunch:):) It was wonderful. After, we were sitting on the glider while she had a small ice cream cone, and she said to me, “this is the life”!!!!! LOL, I cracked up! Thank you for sharing all of your talents with us.

  35. April 25, 2019 at 7:57 am

Mary, this is a stunning alfresco setting with the lake and blooming azaleas as a backdrop! Your table was perfect for the week before Easter. The table runner is so cute and I love those sweet dishes. Your centerpieces are always fabulous. I would love to keep this spring weather just as it has been over the past several days, but we are supposed to be near 90 next week.❤️

  38. April 27, 2019 at 7:20 am

Hi Mary! Your table is so welcoming near your gorgeous lake. Lola looks like a huggable bunny in her cute ears and I would love to cuddle her! She is adorable!! My table bunnies would love to be carrying some bright blossoms in their backpacks like yours are, but the buds are just beginning to show on the azaleas and fruit trees here, so a few more weeks to go. I wish you a Very Happy Day today! :) Linda
