Easy and Festive Gift Card and Lottery Scratch Off Ornaments

Gift Card Ornaments are a festive and easy way to wrap and give those gift cards this holiday season!  Fun as stocking stuffers or to hang on the tree Christmas morning.

Happy Thursday!

I have a merry and bright gift wrap idea for those gift cards this holiday season,

Gift Card Ornaments!

A gift and gift wrap all-in-one, these gift card ornaments

come together quickly and are much more fun to give and receive

than stuffing a card into an envelope or gift bag!

You can hang them on the tree to open Christmas morning, add

them to a stocking or hang them off a stocking holder on the mantel.

Start with some fillable acrylic ornaments from the craft store.

To make life easy, use a bigger size ornament than I did, like these, or these,

that can hold a gift card easily without having to flex it.

My ornaments were 4 inches, you’ll be happier with the next size up, 4.72 inches.

The larger size also allows you to fill it with more goodies too.

I added some candy and some Christmas tinsel garland from Dollar Tree that I cut

to fill the back half of the ornament and add a little festive sparkle.

As these plastic ornaments are inexpensive -> read cheap ;)

some will snap shut and hold together better than others.

To make sure the ornaments stayed closed after filling,

I used a glue gun to run a bead of glue down the seam, and

attached a ribbon which also added a festive embellishment.

Use a minimal amount of glue so the ribbon can easily be peeled off to open it.

Alternatively, use some decorative washi tape to hold the ornaments closed if needed.

Here’s another fun variation if you’re giving money this holiday season,

gift wrap it in an ornament and add a Scratch-Off!

We have seven nephews on my husband’s side of the family.

They’ve all grown up now {*sniff*} and long graduated from the present-giving stage,

to the cash stage. Several years ago, my mother-in-law started passing out

Scratch-Offs for everyone after our Christmas gift exchange and

there was as much anticipation over a $1 Scratch-Off as opening any gift!

Roll up your cash and tie it up with some baker’s twine or ribbon . . .

Place it and the Scratch-Off with your tinsel and candy if desired.

Scratch-Offs make a popular Dirty Santa or White Elephant Gift too!

Opps, somehow I must have hit send while I was style typing! Mary, these are such a clever idea for gift giving! I especially like how it works with a variety of items inside, including gift cards and even cash. Plus, they are lightweight and easy to mail if necessary. I always struggle with pairing gift cards with innovative wrapping for hair dresser, etc. Appreciate this fun, easy craft idea.

What an original and lovely idea for gift giving, Mary! This would be so thrilling for any recipient! You can create a tree devoted and filled with just your gift ornaments – how cool would that be! Pinned and saved!

What a cute way to “wrap” a gift. Since I bet there will be many gift cards given, this is such a unique way to give them. Your pistachio and orange loaves look delicious too. That’s a magazine worthy picture for sure. Pinned! Thanks for being in the hop today and Merry Christmas!

Mary, great idea for an ornament and gift all wrapped up as one!
I will need to remember this for next year.

Clever idea, Mary! Our gift giving has pared down through the years now that all the nieces and nephews are grown. I focus on the little grand nieces with a special occasion sometime during December. This year presented a challenge! I ended up putting together a basket of hot chocolate goodies along with cute pjs. It was a hit, especially the leopard cat pjs and the sweet treats. 😂😂😂

Fun idea Mary – and I’m all for more treats so in this case, bigger is better :)

    Happy Holiday!

    Mary,

l’m absolutely doing this next year for everyone in my office! I love the idea of a gift card, lottery tickets, and some sweets in an ornament, and I know my colleagues will enjoy it. I can already see us sitting around the office randomly working through some lotto scratchers! Thanks for the clever idea, and so much fun to put together with the beautiful ribbons!

  25. December 20, 2020 at 3:07 pm

I love this idea, Mary! We always give my grown stepsons and my teenage niece cash or gift cards…this presentation is a lot more unique than a card. Our family does a yankee swap on Christmas Eve (but not this year :( ) and lottery tickets are always a popular gift! I’ll definitely remember this for next year! Thanks for the inspiration. I hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Mary!! These are brilliant! I have never thought about making ornaments with gifts inside like these! This is a great idea for gift cards, but I like it even better for the fun lottery cards! That would be so fun for our adult kids to pick their own ornaments with the lottery tickets off of the tree! You made these so festive for the holidays with the addition of the candies and tinsel! I am absolutely using this idea next year when I can celebrate the holiday with family! I hope you have a safe a happy Christmas there on your beautiful lake!
