Our peonies usually bloom around the beginning of May.
They’re a little later this year with the colder
than normal early spring temperatures.
Whenever they bloom you can bet that
heavy rain showers are sure to follow
and pummel them~
So while they’re here I’m enjoying
their heady fragrance and lush blooms!
In celebration of Peony Season and the 100-year anniversary of the first true Perfect Mason pint jar, I’m sharing some Ball Jar Love and giving away 2 sets of 6 Ball Heritage Collection Mason Jars! Heritage jars are tinted with antique blue with the Ball logo embossed on front and the 100-year anniversary dates embossed on back.
Perfect for modern standards, quality, and
reliability for your home canning needs. . .
or flowers and petals :)

The winners will be chosen June 14th!
“Had I but four square feet of ground at my disposal, I would plant a peony in the corner and proceed to worship.”
Sooo pretty !
We have rain, rain , rain too – more is one the way – my garden needs a BIG umbrella – all the peonies, roses….
Do you know the name of your peony ? The pink is just gorgeous !
“they fade as quickly as
a pair of brand new gardening gloves” LOL Ain’t it the truth!
Gorgeous photos of some of the prettiest flowers on the face of the earth, Mary! ~ makes me want to sniff the screen~
I cut the last of my pink ones yesterday, before the rains hit. My white ones are just starting to open up…they are on the other side of the house.
I wish I could create such beautiful vignettes to display them, like you do.
Beautiful start to my day, it’s 106 at home today just the thought of these cool fresh scent beauties can drop my blood pressure and put a smile on my face… Love the metal tray too, fabulous piece.
Mary, Those are just gorgeous. I am still waiting for ours to bloom. We have had such a long, cold Spring/Summer. I finally got a new computer so I am back visiting you again! I love your blog- xo Diana
Beautiful!!!!! What is the pretty little white flower vine you have paired with the peonies? Your photography is so sharp and crisp; I feel as if I am there.
Great photos and beautiful display of your peonies. They are such perfect flowers. Too much rain this year and more coming. You made my morning with your pretty decor. Thank you.
Your peonies, the way they’re displayed, and your photography are amazing!! Peonies are my favorite flowers, but mine are already gone. I have one that came from my husband’s grandmother’s childhood home, and I treasure it. Thanks for extending the blooming season of peonies here in the South!!
I just discovered peonies and they r now my second favorite flower…next to plumeria…ihavechad four bouquets in the last month..they are so majestic and have a lovely scent
Those are lovely. Whole Foods had them on sale last week…$8.00 for 5 stems. They were pale pink and lasted the entire week. Never thought about putting the flowers in a glass canning jar. You always open my eyes to new ideas.
Oh Mary, you are so lucky to have those glorious peonies right at your finger tips, or should I say, darling garden gloves! You create such artistic collages that you “paint” so beautifully with your camera~you always transport me to a lovely place!

i so love peonies and wish I could have them planted in my yard…I just have to figure out how to protect them from the deer!…your displays are stunning, as always Mary…Do I spy a vintage shopping cart?…
I absolutely love peonies! I have two and they still haven’t bloomed. They have buds, so I am hoping they bloom soon. I live just outside Denver. Yours are so beautiful.
Your peonies are gorgeous and I’m envious. I never had much luck growing them. Maybe I had the wrong variety. Yours look so pretty in the Ball jars.
Hope the rain has gone. Have a great weekend.
Just a little peony envy here! We have to pick our peonies from the containers in the flower markets. Your pinks are beauties. That’s mostly what we find available here, but I do love to buy the white ones when I find them. Did you read Debbie @ Mountain Breaths suggestion about cutting the buds and keeping them in the refrigerator. Very clever! Have you ever tried that?
Beautiful here, but heating back up tomorrow and forward. They say we’ll hit 100 by next weekend. Enjoy your weekend on the water! ~ Sarah

The peonies are beautiful and look fantastic with that very cool window. The same thing is happening with our hydrangeas. We always get so much rain afterwards which keeps them from drying pretty.
Gorgeous peonies and photos, Mary!

Thank you! The white bloom is Chinese privet and is considered a noxious weed :)

Love your posts. I can almost smell your peonies! Mom always had several bushes while I was growing up.
Beautiful peonies!I I cannot grow them here, but my mom in North Alabama does. I love the little white flowers poking out of your birdhouse.

I love that deep pink color they dry so pretty in deeper shade of pink. Aren’t peony blooms magical?
I too love peonies. You’re so right about the rainfall following the blooms. I always toy with when to cut them.
Great to have you at Seasonal Sundays.
