Unplugged and Birthday Cake Oreo Truffles

I’m unplugged for a few days, away from the computer and social media, enjoying a little outdoor time and a birthday celebration. . .

This popped up on my search bar this morning. . .Google knows all and I’m convinced it will rule the world one day. ;)

I have a sister and two sisters-in-law as well as myself who celebrate birthdays within five days of one another. If you’re in need of a sweet treat for easy celebrating, help yourself to Birthday Cake Oreo Truffles!

These no-bake treats are a piece of cake to make, are topped with festive sprinkles and have the sweet birthday cake flavor in the creme filling of the Oreos, easier and more figure friendly than cake!

I used the same method as in my Red Velvet Oreo Truffles, but added frosting instead of cream cheese. You can mix up a batch with only four ingredients~ Golden Birthday Cake Oreos, candy coating or almond bark, a can of frosting and sprinkles.

Start by placing your Oreos in a food processor and pulse until they are fine crumbs.

Next add 3/4 of a can of frosting. (I used cream cheese frosting which I prefer over vanilla.) Add 2 tablespoons of sprinkles and pulse your mixture in the food processor until well combined.

Roll your cookie mixture into 1” sized balls. Place your balls on wax paper in the freezer 30 minutes until firm.

Melt your candy coating according to the package directions. I like the convenience of CandyQuik since it comes with a microwave disposable tray. You can substitute candy melts or chocolate chips if you prefer. You can find almond bark/candy coating on the baking aisle near the chocolate. 

Place your chilled truffle ball on a fork, dipping it and rolling it in the melted candy coating. Once the ball is covered, tap the fork on the edge of the bowl to remove any excess and place your truffle ball on wax paper to set.

Add your decorative sprinkles right away while candy coating is still warm. The candy coating sets up quickly. Once your candy coating is set, you can tidy them up, trimming off any additional coating with a knife that has pooled on the bottom of the truffle. Serve in mini cupcake liners if desired. I used two liners per truffle, with one turned inside out.

You can make these truffles using the flavor or Oreo and frosting of your choice, for any holiday. I picked up some Wilton Color Flame Candles in the baking section. The flame burns the same color as the candle. 

One candle is so much kinder and easier to blow out than 50+ :)
