HomeGoods is my favorite haunt, just a short broom ride away, and I’ve made several trips recently to see what’s in store. 🧹

This cauldron was waiting for me, ready to bubble with fun and brew some Halloween magic! 🪄

Clear Christmas ornaments for DIY Bubbling Witch Cauldron for Halloween #halloween #witch #craft #diy #cauldron ©homeiswheretheboatis.net

In addition to the cauldron, I started with some clear ornaments to mimic bubbles.

I picked up two sizes of shatterproof Christmas ornaments from Hobby Lobby at the end of the season last year.

Hobby Lobby shows them in stock online, but I’m sure it won’t be long before they’re in stores as Christmas merchandise was rolling in when I stopped by last week.

For the bubbling brew cauldron effect, I used this set of lights:

Color Changing – 33FT 100 LED String Lights with Remote, 16 Single Colors & 6 Holiday Colors, 12 Modes

They’re USB powered lights, rather than traditional battery powered,

so you can plug them into a power bank.

I was cackling with glee at all the color choices and modes . . .* twinkle * mode was my favorite

as it made the ornaments appear to be bubbling away!

I removed the silver ornament caps before starting.

To arrange my ornament ‘bubbles’, I used an upside down plastic bowl inside the cauldron to rest the ornaments on while positioning them.

I didn’t want to permanently attach the ornaments to the cauldron and wanted to be able to reposition the ornaments as I went, so I opted for a temporary method to adhere them to one another. . .

Removable Glue Dots

Glue Dots!

There are different levels of ‘stickiness’ in glue dots, I chose one that was easily removable.

Alternatively, use the clear craft glue of your choice or a low melt glue gun for a more permanent arrangement if you prefer.

After configuring my bubbles, I removed the plastic bowl from the cauldron and tucked the lights inside underneath the ornaments.

Witch Leg Candleholders #halloween #witch #craft #diy #cauldron ©homeiswheretheboatis.net

I decided to elevate the fun with a pair of witch leg candleholders I purchased a couple of years ago. . .

DIY Witch Leg Cauldron using Museum Putty #halloween #witch #craft #diy #cauldron ©homeiswheretheboatis.net

To attach the candleholders to the bowl, I used a favorite trick and product, Museum Putty, aka, Quakehold, that I’ve used before for temporary bonding to make a tiered server.

If you’re not familiar with Museum Putty or Quakehold, it’s recommended for common household surfaces that are finished, sealed and waterproof, such as glass or ceramic.

It has the texture of Silly Putty. . .just pinch off some pieces, rolling them between your fingers to warm them and make them soft and sticky.

Apply the putty firmly to the bottom of your object, placing it on opposite sides or around perimeter for secure adhesion. Press your pieces together, slightly twisting to create a little suction to hold. For best adhesion, let it sit overnight.

When ready to remove the putty, twist slightly while pulling gently. Bonus: the putty pieces are reusable.

Mary, between you and Martha Stewart, I’ve made a slew of Halloween projects over the years. I made 2 ‘Brella’ witches, and ended up selling them at craft fairs for $40 each! That was fun and profitable at the same time. Your Halloween treat cones were a big hit at my October garden club meeting one year, and I always make your Halloween candy bark for my Hubby. Whenever I use the tablecloth I won in your giveaway a few years ago I think of you. I’m going to make this cauldron, it’s a ‘good thing’. I agree that you are the Queen of Halloween, can I be the Princess? 👑👻🎃🧙‍♀️🧹

    • August 12, 2025 at 11:32 am

Princess Peyton, Thank you for your sweet comment and visit! 👑 I’m thrilled you were inspired to make some ‘Brellas’ and sold them at craft fairs and happy to hear you’re enjoying your tablecloth too! 🎃🧹👻🧡

LOVE this Mary!! I look forward to seeing it again as your favorite time of the year approaches!

BEYOND CUTE! Our daughter hosts a pumpkin carving party annually (took over for me after grand was born, yay) and I am soooo sending her this! It is so clever, Mary! How do you come up with such wonderful ideas!!?? Her fav holiday of the year is Halloween, too. I think you two would hit it off big time.

Such a great idea!! I am curious about the lights. Do you have to keep them plugged into a USB charger all the time? And if so, how did you hide it?

    • October 22, 2025 at 11:35 am

Hi Deb, these particular lights stay plugged into the USB. It’s tucked into the bottom of the cauldron under the ornaments so it’s hidden. 🧹🎃
