 I’m sharing one final table for Christmas that’s buzzing with fun and sprinkled with a merry nod to gardening! 🌿🐝 This Christmas table celebrates the beauty of winter greenery, charming garden details, and an elevated potted amaryllis as a festive yet easy table centerpiece.

DIY Potted Amaryllis Centerpiece (Easy Holiday How-To)

I’ve always loved amaryllis for Christmas. They’re elegant and long-lasting as they slowly bloom through the season.

What You’ll Need:

• Potted amaryllis (in bud or just starting to bloom)

• Decorative bowl or cachepot

• Plastic grocery bags or newspaper (for elevating and stabilizing)

• Fresh greenery (arborvitae, boxwood, gardenia, cedar, magnolia)

• Pinecone picks

• Red ornament picks

• Cardinal ornament

• Cardinal ribbon picks

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Start with the amaryllis
   I began with a potted amaryllis from the grocery store, purchased around Thanksgiving while it was still in bud form and just beginning to bloom. Watching it open over the weeks has been part of the joy.

2. Choose a decorative container
   Place the potted plant into a favorite bowl or cachepot. I used a white scalloped-edge bowl, which provides a clean backdrop and lets the greenery and red accents shine.

3. Elevate and secure
   To raise the pot to the proper height and keep it from shifting, I tucked plastic grocery bags underneath and around the nursery pot. It will also protect your bowl or container from water.

4. Add fresh greenery
   Snip greenery from your yard or garden—arborvitae, boxwood, and glossy gardenia foliage work beautifully. Tuck the stems along the edge of the bowl to soften the rim and create a lush base.

   Note: The greenery will stay fresh for a couple of weeks with regular misting with a spray bottle of water or prep the greenery before assembling using an antitranspirant spray, like Crowning Glory or Wilt-Pruf, to lock in moisture.

5. Layer in festive embellishments
   Add pinecone picks first, followed by red ornament picks for sparkle. Cardinal ribbon picks were repurposed from a Merry Cardinal Christmas Table, joining a cardinal ornament as a final embellishment.

A merry red and green plaid throw doubles as a tablecloth, topped with a casual runner of fresh greenery snipped from trees and shrubs. . . cedar, arborvitae, boxwood, and magnolia leaves for a natural, organic look.

Garden ornaments collected over the years (and gifts from my sister!) are tucked into the greenery and elevated in upside-down red mercury glass votive holders for height and interest.
