This month our theme is patriotic, and we’re celebrating a very special milestone as America begins commemorating her 250th birthday. It seemed only fitting to raise a cup to liberty, gratitude, and the blessings we enjoy while gathering around a table dressed in red, white, and blue.

Today we’re letting freedom ring with a pot of Blueberry Rooibos Herbal Tea from The Tea Can Company.

This caffeine-free blend is a delicious combination of organic rooibos, dried blueberries, lavender flowers, and all-natural vanilla flavor. Lightly fruity with subtle floral notes, it’s naturally sweet and wonderfully refreshing, whether enjoyed steaming hot or poured over ice on a warm summer afternoon.

The plant-based, plastic-free signature sachets that allow plenty of room for the tea leaves and botanicals to unfurl and fully infuse. Each sachet brews enough tea for two to three cups or a small pot, making it perfect for sharing with a friend.

A Table Dressed in Red, White and Blue

My love of red, white, and blue goes far beyond flag and bunting. . .it extends right into my transferware cabinet!

Today we’re sipping tea from Liberty Blue teacups, a pattern that’s steeped in American history. Liberty Blue dinnerware was produced by the Enoch Wedgwood Company in Staffordshire, England, as a commemorative promotion for Benjamin Franklin Federal Savings and Loan’s 50th anniversary in 1975 and to celebrate America’s Bicentennial in 1976. The collection features fifteen historic scenes from America’s Colonial period.

The dinner plates feature Independence Hall in Philadelphia, where both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were debated and adopted. My Liberty Blue teacups feature Paul Revere and his famous midnight ride, a wonderful reminder of the courage and determination that helped shape our nation.

Johnson Brothers Historic America was produced 1930 to 1974 in blue, brown, green, multi-color and pink.  I found four salad plates in pink, featuring The Capitol, at a favorite antique mall.

A blooming Harper Liberty Collection tablecloth sets a cheerful backdrop with its scattering of red, white, and blue flowers, while a white pitcher filled with fresh hydrangeas and alstroemeria, with flags tucked in, adding another patriotic touch.

Sweet Treats for an Easy Summer Tea

Summer entertaining is one of my favorite times to keep things simple and lean on a few easy shortcuts.

I almost always have a package or two of Athens Phyllo Shells tucked away in the freezer. Since they’re fully baked and ready to fill, they’re perfect for both sweet and savory bites. I like to pop them into a 350-degree oven for three to five minutes to crisp them up before letting them cool and adding the filling.

For today’s tea, they’re filled with bright lemon curd and topped with a fresh strawberry slice and blueberries for a festive little burst of red, white, and blue.

I also picked up an assortment of colorful macarons from the grocery store freezer section. With flavors like chocolate hazelnut, amaretti, mango, strawberry, and salted caramel, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy.

And because every patriotic tea table deserves a scone, I added some mini orange cranberry scones from our Publix bakery.

Celebrating 250 Years

As America begins celebrating her 250th anniversary, I’m grateful for opportunities to pause, gather with friends, and reflect on the blessings of home, family, and freedom.

Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, watching fireworks, or simply sharing a quiet cup of tea on the porch, I hope you’ll take a moment this summer to savor the sweetness of the season and celebrate the enduring spirit of our nation.

Thank you for joining me for Tea on Tuesdays. Pour yourself another cup, help yourself to a sweet treat, and let’s raise a toast to 250 years of liberty.

This is fabulous! Your transferware is perfect for this patriotic pledge of teatime, beautiful red and blue. The alstromeria in that blood red color, the very white teapot, and those beautifully beaded and rhinestone napkin rings all sing the glory of our nation’s colors. I love this tablescape, and the tea color looks almost red! Thank you for waving the patriotic symbolism, Mary. And have you loved reading all the accounts of World Cup travelers loving America for their various reasons? Whether it be singing Country Roads, donning cowboy hats, or endless refills or super-sized portions of meals, we’re the most blessed in this world! Happy patriotic teatime!

Good morning, Mary! You certainly do have the prettiest transferware dishes for celebrating a 250th birthday tea party! I just love the Liberty Blue so very much and how lucky to find the pink JB salad plates. Your napkins are wonderful, along with the napkin rings. Of course your table and centerpiece totally set the stage for your delicious tea and treats. I would’ve bought the tea just for the container, it’s that cute! Thank you for inviting me to share along with you and Pam. You’re my tea party inspirational role models. Love to you, Mary! 🫖 ❤️🇺🇸💙🫖
