An Oscar Worthy Pairing~ Popcorn & Prosecco!

Here’s my nomination for Best Popcorn

Paired with Prosecco

for Oscar or Movie Night!

An Oscar worthy adaptation of two of Giada De Laurentiis’s popcorn recipes~ one with Herbs de Provence and Asiago Cheese and the other with Parmesan and Pecorino.

Best ingredients in a leading role are:

Herbs de Provence

Mama Francesca’s Italian Cheese Blend~

Parmesan, Romano, and Asiago

Nominated for Best Beverage for a

Bright and Bubbly

Pairing with your Popcorn~

Prosecco, affordable and available at most grocery stores.

Also a Foreign Language contender since it’s Italian :)

Cast of Ingredients
6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) unsalted butter
1 large clove garlic, quartered
1 1/2 teaspoons dried herbes de Provence, (crushed between fingers to release flavor)
1/4 cup vegetable or peanut oil
1/2 cup popcorn kernels
1/2 – 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt to taste (1/2 teaspoon is plenty for us since the cheese is salty)
1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan, Asiago, Romano Italian Cheese Blend~ I use Mama Francesca or you can grate your own.

Combine the butter, garlic and herbes de Provence in a small saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat until the butter melts. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let stand while making the popcorn.

Combine the oil and popcorn in a heavy large pot. Cover and cook over medium-high heat until almost all the kernels pop. Transfer the popcorn to a large bowl.

Remove the garlic from the butter and discard.

Add the salt, cheese and butter mixture to the popcorn. Toss until the popcorn is coated. Serve immediately.

Happy Movie Watching~

May your favorite film win!
