Sunflowers make me crow in delight, their cheery faces symbolizing the
the sun and conveying warmth, happiness, adoration and longevity!
Pfaltzgraff’s Evening Sun is blooming with sunflowers,
the speckled glaze surface of the dinnerware
saturated in a color palette of rich oranges, fiery reds,
sunny yellows and sage green.
Goldenrod and the burgundy foliage of Loropetalum
are sprinkled in with sunflowers in a watering can,
joining a rooster for a centerpiece for the table.
Goldenrod has been blooming for a couple of weeks now, earlier than normal
and hopefully a sign the fall will arrive here in the South
sooner rather than later, something else to crow about!
Placemats and napkin rings provide more flowers for the table,
framing the plates with a woven ring of petals and
providing a burlap bloom on plaid and solid napkins.
Bold in design, Pfaltzgraff Evening Sun is also
generously sized, with a 12 inch dinner plate, 9 inch salad plate,
24 ounce soup/ cereal bowl and 18 ounce coffee mug,
microwave and dishwasher safe.
I added a sunflower cloche to the table,
attracting bees and butterflies. . .
Sunflower Appetizer Plates are decorative as well as functional
and also microwave and dishwasher safe.
Hard Cider Glasses from Mikasa Brewmasters Collection
feature a tapered base that also helps to hold the carbonation
and prevent overwarming of the glass when held.
They’re filled with orange juice but would work equally well
for serving a mimosa and sunny start to the day!
And a small sunflower plate provides an embossed bloom
for a sunny addition to the table.

Wonderful warm colors Mary-Now I’m getting excited for fall! Truthfully, it’s been a pretty mild summer here in Philly, I really can’t complain. Your sunflowers are beautiful, love the close up shot:@)
Rainy morning here in Portland, Maine and those sunflowers are just what I need. The setting is so evocative of late summer.
I have loved these dishes from the first time I saw them, but I had another set of sunflower dishes so could never justify getting them. Your table is so beautiful and the dishes are all perfect.
Oh I love sunflowers!
Your dishes are beautiful and I’d enjoy a little brunch on your lovely decorated table~
What a perfect way to enjoy late summer and welcome autumn.
Golly, you can make anything look pretty! Love the sunflower appetizer plates and the sunflowers, the red chicken. A great welcome for Autumn.
Flowers and sprinkler cans…..a perfect pairing and isn’t it wonderful to have an abundance of goldenrod right now?
Beautiful table and love the dishes!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!! Such a lovely table…except you can keep that golderod…it is making me sneeze something awful up here. LOL Funny how those in the south can’t wait for Fall to arrive & those of us up north get depressed when we see it starting, because we know what ic coming afterwards!
Well done, as always, Mary. You sure are talented!
Love love love your styling, so many great shots! I think I am starved for color, it’s forever blue green and gray in my neck of the woods…
The sunflowers are just amazing! They bring a smile to me and I get them whenever I can. They brighten up my home and makes me happy!🌴😊🌻
Just yesterday I found some sunflower placemats and decided to do a late summer, sunflower table!!! Great minds!!! Yours will be much prettier than mine though:) Your setting and view take it over the top. Wish I had a burlap tablecloth. I LOOOOOVE this pattern!!!
It is just beautiful. I love it. What I would give to sit at that beautiful table and look at that beautiful lake. :)))
I haven’t ever seen this Pfaltzgraff pattern Mary, and it is bold and colorful just like the sunflowers it is paying tribute to~I was drawn in immediately by your watering can centerpiece and proud rooster~ and of course all your wonderful subtle touches like the petals on the plate! I have never heard of that style glass either, so interesting! This table is perfect for late August days with maybe a promise of fall in the air, very welcoming~
Jenna
Mary, all the burst of color grounded upon the nubby texture of the burlap makes for a very sunny and inviting table. I marvel at your talent for styling! The shots of the rusty red rooster against the vintage watering can filled with golden sunny flowers would make the perfect still life painting. Bravo!
Do you have a new look on the blog or am I just slow to take notice? Looks great!
It’s a lovely table, Mary, lots of interest! Like Retta said, we in the North are not ready for Fall. After the terrible winter we had, we want to hold on till Sept 22 til we can’t deny it is Fall. Summer has been beautiful here, only got up to 90 a few days. So, no thoughts of Fall for me for at least a month. What’s the rush?
I love that table! I really like all of your designs and decorations but this one has to be my all time favorite. I love sunflowers and anything red. Love the plaid napkins with the red ones and with the tableware it’s stunning. Sigh. I suppose this means I need to go buy some new plates. My husband said our cabinets are going to fall off the wall so now I have to give up something to buy something new. LOL Maybe the purple plates will have to go?
Awk! You’re killing me! Just when I think I see exactly what I want, you come up with something that I think I want more. What a gorgeous pattern, and those appetizer plates! Must have those. I think they would pair quite nicely with my existing Fiestaware.
One of the most stunning tablescapes I have ever seen. Seriously, just WOW and beyond gorgeous.
I would be crowing about that lovely table, too, Mary. When I see the sunflowers along the roadside I know fall is soon to arrive…that means cooler, drier weather here on the prairie!
Have a wonderful week…it’s going to be a hot one here.
Ooooohhhh….I love the flowers! Goldenrod is so pretty, especially when paired up with the big-faced sunflowers. The water can is the perfect vessel to showcase them.
The dishes are beautiful…the perfect ones for transitioning from summer into early fall. I LOVE the appetizer plates!!!
Oh wow, simply beautiful – love it.
Mary
Now this is one pattern I could see using all late summer into late October….Love how you brought the other elements in to mix it up and coordinate.
Mary, I can just imagine what your store displays must have looked like!
This pattern is fantabulous, Mary! I am trying to resist dishes for awhile!! The table is perfect!
Oh my gosh these photos are stunning!! I want to come and sit at this table!!
Mary – such a colorful and cheerful table!! Looked back at last years beautiful blue table setting and realized today is your 30th Anniversary!!! Happy 30th Anniversary!!! May you be blessed with many more wonderful years!
Hi Cynthia, Thank you so much for the sweet anniversary wishes! ♥
Wow Mary, your table is something to crow about! You certainly know how to enhance dishes to enthrall all of us. The centerpiece, the napkins and all the burlap accents add such a casual, homey feel. I’d cheer with a mimosa!!
Absolutely gorgeous! Karie
Mary, this tablescape is so appealing on so many levels. Is there anyone who doesn’t like sunflowers? They are such happy flowers and you have used them and the dishes so artfully! Your pretty tables just always make me smile!
Sunflowers make me so happy. What a joy to see this darling table with the red rooster. Too bad we can’t bottle the sunflower and spread happiness. Beautifully done and I love the evening shot.
I love your plaid napkins with this placesetting – they go perfectly. I just adore your tables and that view of yours! It is like a little slice of heaven.
Wow, beautiful!
You really captured the essence of Fall.
Thanks so much for sharing!
Suzanne
The setting by the lake is a blessed place, one of my favorite places, and it is ever-changing, thanks to the combined magic of nature and your artistry. The colors on your table were plucked from an August afternoon, and each one carries the hint of what’s to come (fall picnics!).
Beautiful pictures, dishes, flowers and rooster! I am not ready for fall yet! I am digging my heels in……
Blessings My Friend,
Oh what a darling tablescape! I love the red rooster! Hobby Lobby has such gorgeous finds!
I love your sunflower plates!! Your center collection of watering can, sunflowers, and red rooster are the perfect items to enhance the dishes. Your plaid napkins and flower rings are wonderful additions of rustic touches. Bravo!
Hi Mary – We shared the tablescape image on our Facebook page yesterday. It’s Bombay Outdoors. I’ll paste in the link below. Congrats on your beautiful work and photos! Emmon
So pretty! There is something about sunflowers that just make you feel like fall must be coming soon. I love all the beautiful color on this table. The red rooster is wonderful!
Another beautiful tablescape and so great for this time of year! The pottery style dishes in the sunflower pattern are very cheerful. The rooster adds a lovely accent to to centerpiece. Please take a peek at my post this week!
