A Patriotic Table with Red, White and Liberty Blue

I’m at the table with Red, White and Liberty Blue in anticipation of Independence Day!

It’s hard to believe the 4th of July is Tuesday. To celebrate America’s birthday, I’m waving the flag and setting the table with Staffordshire Liberty Blue!

Liberty Blue dinnerware was created by Enoch Wedgwood Company, in the historic Staffordshire district of England. It was designed on behalf of Benjamin Franklin Federal Savings and Loan, as a promotional item in commemoration of the company’s 50th anniversary in 1975, and in celebration of the American Bicentennial in 1976.

Fifteen different historic scenes from the American colonial period were used on the Liberty Blue dinnerware. I found dinner plates at a favorite antique mall recently. The dinner plates feature Independence Hall, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where both the United States Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted.

An ironstone pitcher serves as a vase and centerpiece for the table, filled with hydrangeas that are blooming and flags that are waving.

I exercised my freedom and independence, using a ‘Happy 4th of July’ cake topper/banner, atop the hydrangeas instead of a cake. ;)

Party favor American flag paper fans, provide a star-spangled way to beat the heat. . .

Red, white & blue mini crackers are a patriotic twist on Victorian-era crackers, providing each guest with a bang, pop, and a nod to ‘the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,’  and with some Independence day trivia and a fun surprise inside.

In celebration of our nation’s birthday, American Bead flatware by Pfaltzgraff is at the table. . .

Help yourself to a red velvet cupcake, proudly served with a red, white and blue party pick and star-spangled cupcake liners!

If you’re craving some red, white, and blue food fun for your Independence Day celebration, you can find a 25+ patriotic and party treats for your Star-Spangled Celebration, HERE.

Once again…absolutely gorgeous! I love the dishes! The only thing missing in this pic is your pie spatula from a prior post. I thought it was so patriotic that I had to have one for myself to go along with my all American Apple pie! Happy 4th of July!

My Mother had that Stafford Liberty Blue when it was first produced. My oldest sister inherited them because she always cherished them. I love the Pfaltzgraff American Bead flatware and paisley tablecloth. Your blue hydrangea in the pitcher are the perfect centerpiece with the little flags and cake topper. Absolutely spectacular tablescape and beautiful photos too! Thank-you and Happy Independence Day.

I enjoyed learning about the history of the Liberty Blue dinnerware. I think I have one plate. Will have to look.
Your table is creative and very patriotic as well as festive. I could sit there all day looking out over your beautiful lake. I’d enjoy eating a cupcake too. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

What wonderful plates Mary, a real tribute to our history, country and founding fathers. Your setting full of flags and hydrangeas is so lovely and patriotic! I ordered some swooper flags from Amazon after seeing them on your blog but mine arrived yesterday with no poles, 😱! My fault, I didn’t read the fine print, but I’m so disappointed, I think they are so festive!! It looks like you’re all set to celebrate, have a blast 🎆🇺🇸

YES!!! My very FAVORITE!!! Tablescape with the a View!!! Of beautiful Lake Norman! Posts of this setting is what made me start following your blog, Mary! I absolutely LOVE it!!! I also love the Red, White and Liberty Blue dinnerware and all your patriotic decorations! I think I love it so much because it brings back wonderful memories of my childhood and young adult days spent on the lake. And the fact that I am a Tablescape addict. As usual, everything is just so well put together from the beautiful flags by the lakeshore, to the fans on the table and the lovely terra cotta planter on the column by the table! Mary, I do wonder where you purchased the terra cotta planter? I really like the clean lines of that planter. Thank You, Thank You for the Tablescape with a View posting!!!! Just LOVELY!!! Made my Day!!! 👏 🇺🇸 ;)

Thanks Karen! I haven’t been able to do a lakeside table in a while with all our rain. My planters cane from Target several years ago, they’re actually lightweight, faux terra cotta so they don’t freeze and crack. 🇺🇸🌺😀

Mary your new plates are awesome! Thanks for the history lesson. I think it’s neat that they are about American Colonial days but made in England – our former mother country. ha. Love the lake view! You find the neatest things at that antique mall. I swear if I’m ever in the area I WILL visit that antique mall, it has SO MANY wonderful items. Love the patriotic fans and flags, I enjoy putting flags in my pots also. Happy 4th and God bless all who have served and are serving for our freedom and liberty!

I’m loving your red, white and blue, Mary. Those Liberty plates are a wonderful find, and look perfect on the tablecloth, with those pretty napkins. I’m in Ohio to celebrate my Mom’s 88th birthday tomorrow. Happy 4th to you! 🇱🇷

Happy Independence Day Mary from your Canadian neighbor to the north. We are celebrating Canada’s 150 this Saturday July 1st and everything around here is going crazy with maple leaves and red and white. It’s been so much fun and feels so patriotic wherever you go.
I just wanted to thank you for all your beautiful posts. Have a great weekend

I love that you are exercising your independence and freedom in creating such amazing posts. You and Pam Richardson at Everyday Living have been my inspiration over the past few years. I came by your post quite by accident..trying to find a chickadee plate. My search took me to your blog and am I ever grateful. It has been a great joy to me. I started my blog on March 5th of this year. Dianne Sharpe

You always do such a classy table, even when you add the inexpensive elements. I do love that RL tablecloth. I hope to get to Gibson’s someday in the near future. I need something from there, I’m sure. lol. Hope your weekend is a good one.

Mary, it looks like a beautiful day lakeside! I love the big vertical flags and of course all the red, white, and blue of your table. I have a set of the vintage Liberty Blue. Thought they would be fun for patriotic holidays, not to mention they are beautiful plates. I’m in love with the paisley table cloth. Will look for one of these. Thanks for sharing the inspiration here. Happy 4th!

Mary Happy 4th. My husband and I live in the historic district of our small North Carolina River Town. This years celebration is Saturday. The celebration is hosted at a different river front home each year. We hosted several years ago and when our turn comes up again I will certainly use some of your inspirational ideas. Thank for always bringing new and fresh ideas to your blog

Hi Mary, As always, I was so excited to see what gorgeous displays of beauty you had in store for us! I loved all the patriotic items you set your table with and the flags in the background. How fun! My question to you is, how and where do you store all your seasonal items? My house wouldn’t be big enough for all the very pretty things that you have on display. Thank you!
