Good morning! My most favorite Halloween treat is a peanut butter cup. When my six siblings and I tricked or treated we always came home with loads of them. Our mom loved them too and sorted them out of the large piles of candy (and a toothbrush from the local conscientious neighbor). She claimed her right to them first!

      September 20, 2019 at 11:55 am

Mary, you are so very kind and generous…..thank you so very much. I look forward to every one of your posts as you are the BEST! One of my favorite holidays and you make it so much more fun! Give me a Look candy bar and I am one happy witch! That white chewy nougat with peanuts coated with the contrast of the dark chocolate gets my broom dancing every time! I am a Black Hat Society Member and I pinned the composition of all your 6th Annual Black Hat Society photos because I love all of them. I do have to say I think the witches boots with the gardening tools is really clever and one of my favorites. Best witches for a happy weekend to you too!

I’m a simple witch and my favorite Halloween candy is Candy Corns. Love all of your witching around. I love Halloween and dress up for the occasion every year.

I pinned your Halloween poster picture to my Halloween tablescapes board. Hope I win something.

  84. September 20, 2019 at 11:22 am

I love candy corn (only the original flavor). They are deceiving little candies and a witch can get carried away….can’t exceed the weight capacity of my broom. As always, your photos are my favorite “eye” candy :)

Halloween seems to be the kick off of the Holiday Season and has been a favorite for our family. I have a black silk cape with fringe from the turn of the century and have used it as part of my witch costume for over 40 years. I also made a witch costume for my daughter when she was 2 but she was afraid of it and only wore the cape the first year. My husband joins the fun as a zombie. Guess by now you can imagine I would love to be one of your winners. I am an email follower and have pinned the sunflower and mum arrangement to my fall decor board. Like so many of your followers candy corn is my favorite and screams HALLOWEEN 👻 🎃🕷

Such great ideas, had to share with my daughter in law. I pinned the Witch’s Umbrella. That was so cute.
My favorite is Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, just love the smell before I ever even get one bite. On halloween night, we gather with multiple families at one house so I am always looking for Mary Jane’s, BitOHoney, Caramel Cremes ( we called Moo Moos) and Peanut Butter bars.

My all time favorite Halloween treat was a long ago neighbor, Mrs. Brown’s, popcorn balls. Back in the day (late 50’s) when I was a little girl Trick or Treating was incredible. We lived one block from a cemetery so the spook factor was a given. I always dressed as a Gypsy (probably politically incorrect now) but, it was fun. October 31st was usually a cool, crisp night. Leaves crackling under our feet, the smell of wood smoke in the air, spooky decorations on front porches, Jack-0-Lanterns everywhere, and the neighborhood sidewalks filled with excited children running from house to house. The best house was Mrs. Brown’s. Her homemade popcorn balls were delicious. Each individually wrapped in wax paper and tied with ribbon. She must have slaved for hours on all those delicious treats, and then wrapped them so sweetly for all the children who came knocking. That one special thing, aside from my love for Halloween, must have triggered the desire to always make it special. I decorate to the hilt and have for over 35 years! I enjoy putting my Halloween candy in treat bags. I still have my 50’s cloth Trick or Treat bag and sometimes I’m positive I can still smell the aroma of those popcorn balls. Halloween is the best!

I have pinned just about every one of your blog posts on my pinterest boards! You rock Halloween! I will always choose chocolate bars or peanut butter cups! When my kids were little I always had a Halloweenie party for our friends and their children, with gruesome looking foods that were delicious nevertheless. Everyone came in costume: we even had a “patient”and “doctor” come, complete with IV bag, drains with fake ” blood” a cast, crutches, catheter! Can you tell that my friends are nurses?

  99. September 20, 2019 at 1:43 pm

My favorite Halloween candy is the little mellow creme pumpkins. They used to come in a package mixed with other fall shapes, but I couldn’t find those last year. I loved your table scape with the beautiful fall arrangement and black and white checked cloth and pinned it.

  115. September 20, 2019 at 6:47 pm

Mary, this member never tires of seeing your clever and festive holiday ideas. This entire post could be published as a book. I guess I’ve said that before! 🤗 Seriously, this would all make a terrific book. I’ve passed this link on to my nieces and friends. It’s the perfect party planning guide.
As for my favorite Halloween candy, that would be Brach’s candy corn. I’ve reached the addiction level that it is not allowed in the house. I picked upa bag of the individually packaged pieces thinking at least it would be a way to ration myself, but decided I best not. At least not before Octber!
Your fun gifts are generous and adorable. I’ve been a fortunate recipient of your past giveaways, so I’ll not throw my new black hat into the ring. But, Thank you! Thank you!

I have followed you for years without too many comments. You shared with me how you use bedspreads, blankets, and other items for your “table cloths”. I’ve followed your advice on how to make arrangements though mine are never as beautiful as yours. But, the shoes stuffed with pine straw has to be one of my favorites. Where did you find them and are they wearable???

      Yes, Kohl’s 🧹

Candy corn. All the other ‘miniature’ candy can be found year round so it is not really special for me. (Oh yeah, I eat candy year round…lol). I really have to restrain myself from binging and eating an entire (regular size) bag in one evening. I will say that I also like M&Ms in the special holiday colors. So, I will usually wait to feast on those only for all the holidays during the year.

Hmm. I tried to find the way for a second entry (via email?) but I guess I can do it here? I found your site as a link that was on Tablescape Thursday by Between Naps on the Porch. I think your ideas and creativity are FABULOUS. Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday. However, as we are thinking about downsizing (you & I are probably close in age…) I had to part with some of my Halloween stash. Our 2 grown children received whatever they wanted. Now I’m left with only 1 large plastic storage bin for Halloween. The skeletons, skulls, & ravens are stored on basement shelves in shopping bags (they couldn’t fit in the bin which is used for linen and small decorations). I think it is brilliant that you kept to a single item for your theme – makes holiday decorating so much more cohesive. I wish I had thought of that. So how many decoration bins do you have?

This year, I am sad that I cannot fully celebrate the fall holidays. Our son is getting married the first weekend in December so we are all on our Wedding Diets. Ugh. No Halloween goodies. No fall harvest goodies. No Thanksgiving goodies. The menus are now restrained. We’ve always eaten healthy but none of us are splurging.

Oh yes, by-the-way, I have added your collage photo to my Pinterest file dedicated to Halloween.
