Happy Thursday!
Anyone in need of some flower therapy?
I’m sharing some tole tray love and spring blooms on The Potting Bench
on a very wet and stormy day here in N.C.

I have a small collection of tole trays that I’ve picked up over the years
at antique malls and flea markets.

They’re more shabby than chic, but with the right amount chippiness and patina
of faded flowers to pair with garden pots,
vintage garden tools and mason jars filled with flowers!

The Potting Bench my hubby built got a little flower and tole tray love. . .
I used some ceramic magnets to attach the trays and hang
on the metal Reliable Seeds sign on the back of the bench . . .

Easy on, easy off, no hooks, nails or screws required!

Spring blooms were added to jars and pots on Potting Bench. . .

A Fresh Flower Market Sign points the way to seeds, stems and blooms.

Lady Banks Rose, Rosa banksiae ‘Lutea’, is a vigorous climber and prolific bloomer
in early spring with deep green foliage on thornless, slender branches.

I was happy to find it came through a couple of cold snaps and frost warnings
without damage to the buds and blooms.
Lady Banks Rose grows in USDA Hardiness zones 6 – 9.
I highly recommend planting one if you live within those zones!
If you don’t know your garden zone, you can look it up by zipcode, HERE.

I cut some arching branches to add to a pair of MacKenzie-Childs Flower Market Rain Boots
(purchased on sale!) and to add a spring to my step. . .
🌸 🌼 💐

I also cut some viburnum blooms to celebrate spring!

Doublefile Viburnum is a ‘Shasta’ variety viburnum and grows in USDA zones 5 – 9.
The blooms grow out horizontally on the branches and resemble lace-cap hydrangeas.

Popcorn Viburnum is covered with with clusters of hydrangea-like white flowers,
resembling popcorn balls, hence the name ;)

It’s a fast grower reaches 6 to 8 ft. tall and wide.

A tole painted watering can is filled with azalea blooms. . .

Bridal Wreath Spirea has been beautiful this spring . . .

The graceful arching branches and have an old-fashioned appeal
and look of a cottage garden.

I couldn’t resist having a little dish fun to join the flowers . . .

Johnson Brothers ‘Garden Bouquet’ is a vintage and perennial favorite pattern in my dish garden :)

Garden tools are blooming with flowers. . .

Along with gloves and vintage flatware.

We’re expecting 30 mph wind gusts today and Friday.
I’m hoping all the blooms won’t be stripped and reduced to petal confetti! 🤞

Happy peaking springtime to you! Enjoy each new arrival on the scene!
So pretty there
Good morning, Mary! It is a cloudy and rainy morning here and your floral tole trays and potting bench are welcomed flower therapy! The Lady Banks, Viburnums, and Bridal Wreath are all stunning! Mine have all succumbed to the rain and wind. But, I did enjoy them for a couple of weeks. Mason jars filled with blooms always warm my heart! The MC Flower Market rain boots are a beautiful addition to the potting bench! Thank you for a lovely floral start to my day!
Stay safe today ❤️
really, really beautiful… I love tole.. your use of it really makes a gorgeous statment..Your flower roses are remarkable… Happy Spring, Mary
Wow Mary, this display is stunning! The potting bench looks fabulous dressed with your tole collection and big Spring blooms! The black from the trays, signs and boots really makes the flowers and colors pop! Fingers crossed the wind won’t damage all your beautiful flowers blooming in your yard. Thank you for the wonderful eye candy this morning!
Jenna
Thank you for the warm flower hug this morning. It goes so well with my coffee. Things are just starting to pop up around my yard in Michigan, especially the Lenten Rose. Linda
“Hold your bonnet & don’t look back!!” Here, too… franki
Absolutely gorgeous, just what I needed this morning!!
Every year I see your posts with your gorgeous Viburnums and Lady Banks Rose. Every year I say I’m going to plant them. Every year goes by and other projects get in the way. Not this year! I have a new huge area where my lawn died. It is kind of a nice field area of grass that we don’t usually need to water in the summer. It turns brown but always comes back. Well not this year – most of the grass is dead. So guess what. That is my new planting area! I also have a nearby water source that my husband can tap into. I’m so excited! I’m going to divide the area into rooms and plan the whole thing out on paper. In go the blooming trees and shrubs I’ve always wanted. There will also be a strip for sunflowers (that will now face in the right direction) and a rose garden. Life would only get better if I could have a Hartley Botanic Greenhouse set right in the midst of it all…lol. I love your beautiful garden Mary!
Oh so pretty Mary. I love the painted tole trays. They looks fabulous with the MK flowers Market boots. The viburnum, Lady Banks plus the Bridal Wreath is so beautiful. We have Lady Bank roses too. They always bloom around my birthday. Such a pretty look for spring.
Don’t you just love spring! And your tole trays are lovely with all their patina and charm.
What a splendid display, Mary. Your creativity knows no bounds.
But the Lutea roses take the prize…must get some. Thank you for
mellowing my day and prevail in the coming “O my goodness”
weather…..
Gorgeous blooms! I hope they survive the wind.
Mary, you have so many pretty blooms! The Lady Banks roses are beautiful. You have such a wonderful collection of tole trays, and they look so lovely displayed on your potting bench. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
A blessed perfect weather day monday for the eclipse and it’s been windy and rainy and terribly gloomy ever since. All your flowers are absolutely gorgeous.
Your gorgeous black floral tole collection is awesome. I sold a tray very much like that one high up years ago – and ya know something? I have regretted it ever since. I think it all is just stunning and so well thought-out and put together. I squealed at the McC floral boots. They are divine. You’ve done it again, Mary!!! : – )
So love this, just wish I had garden time to play like this, the older I get the slower I am with tasks verses fun, I can’t be a plow horse and a decorator in the same day! Love seeing your spring fling, we have rain arriving for days now too, I am always behind the fun curve with weather!
Good Morning Mary! You have filled me with inspiration! I have a potting bench in Pennsylvania, and I always think of you when I style it. I am going to keep my eye out for floral tole trays.
Your flower bouquets in the mason jars are gorgeous. And the MC flower boots are too cute!
Thank you for your lovely inspiration! Happy Weekend to you!
Mary, love the Tole trays! I have a few of my grandmothers that I enjoy using. They bring a personal touch and the rusty spots just add more charm to the decor!
Your flowers look beautiful. Our driveway is lined with bridal wreath bushes and I look forward every year to see them blooming.
Lovely post as always! Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful garden blooms and tole love, Mary! We most always have a tole tray or two in our booths. I love them too. And as if last week’s tornadoes and derecho storms weren’t enough fun for Mother Nature to cast on us in WV, she sent flood waters and wind this week. It’s been a very wild 10 days or so. Even our interstate was flooding with hillside runoff, with no escape for traffic! But I am so happy to see the sun, even if the winds were still hefty Saturday. I don’t have room for thr beauty of your large specimen plants, but I do think I need a bridal wreath spirea in my life. One neighbor’s stood out so beautifully, it just commands attention. Your garden bouquet with real floral flourishes at the table is my happy place, and what more idyllic place than outside at the garden potting table!
Mary, Your decorated potting bench is blooming with beautiful buds! Love the tole trays mixed in. Your plants have really done well this spring! Our azaleas and irises are blooming. Thanks for sharing! Clara❤️
Mary, this is so pretty! I love seeing your garden in bloom and the beautiful flowers on the potting bench. We had snow here last night – ugh. Your collection of tole trays is lovely – especially the shabby one – its has been much loved. The Johnson Brothers pattern looks fabulous with the flowers and trays and the MKC rain boots are adorable. I hope you didn’t wake up to petal confetti this morning and all those gorgeous blooms were spared. Happy Tuesday!
