Happy Monday!

I hope you had a wonderful and joyful Easter holiday!

After a very wet and cold weekend, we’re warming back up to the 70s

and looking forward to some welcome sunshine returning this week.

Bunnies and blooms have gathered on The Potting Bench

for a celebration of spring!

Snowball Viburnum is blooming and has been beautiful this spring.

I was afraid that the cold snap we had several weeks ago

would nip the blooms but they escaped unscathed.

I highly recommended planting a viburnum shrub if you have room in your landscape!

The flowers start out green and turn a snowy white and make beautiful cut flowers.

Snowball Viburnum tolerates a range of soils, but performs best in moist, well-drained, acidic soil.

Plant in full sun to partial shade in USDA zones 6-9.

I gathered some blooms in celebration of spring,

to join bunnies for some tabletop fun.

Bunnies don’t hop away after Easter, instead,

they multiply during the spring and summer months,

as rabbits tend do, living under The Potting Shed.

I cut some Snowball Viburnum, resembling snowy white cottontails,

to add to bunny vases and this bunny’s basket on The Potting Bench.

Daffodils are blooming in mason jars, along

Tip: Daffodils secrete a sap that can shorten the vase life of other flowers.

To use daffodils in a vase with other flowers, cut them and put them in a vase by themselves

for at least an hour or longer. After the stems have secreted their sap,

they’re ready to add to other flowers in a mixed bouquet

as long as you don’t recut the stems again.

Beautiful bunnies and blooms. My Snowball viburnums are incredible this spring and weren’t hurt at all by the rain and wind. Need to cut a bouquet for the house now that my daffodils and tulips have gone by. Have a good week.

Oh I so needed to see beautiful flowers and bunnies from you today…it was 32 this morning when I went out to feed the chickens. That’s too cold for April here in Central Virginia. Should be warmer later this week. I so love the snowball verbanium…going to walk the yard later to see where I could put it. I planted a small moon garden last week (all white flowers so there is color to see at night) but not sure if there is room there. Unfortunately for this impatient lady I planted all bulbs. 🤣. Peace.

    • April 11, 2023 at 5:53 am

Good Morning Cindi, We had a chilly start to the day yesterday and this morning but are warming up to 80 by midweek. Hope you can find a spot for a viburnum, you would love it. Wishing you a wonderful week. ♥

Your potting bench display is adorable. I love all the bunnies and the snowball viburnums are so pretty. I’ve wanted to plant one for a few years but haven’t found any at my local garden shops. Oh, I tried your asparagus-strawberry salad for Easter and it was a big hit! Thank you!

    • April 11, 2023 at 6:01 am

Thank you Lauren, I’m so glad to hear the salad was a hit! You might check Walmart’s garden center, I’ve seen them there in March and early April. Thank you for your visit and comment. ♥

It could not be any cuter!!! ❤❤❤ your bunny hutch and all the details, but most flabbergasted at all your flowers, spring is missing in California this year! Not a rose in sight, envious of lady banks appearance! And your viburnum takes my breath away, I thought I had it but after seeing yours there is no way I could forget it! I need a trip to the nursery today… Thanks for all the joy, we had our first sunny 70 degree day since October yesterday, been an extremely long cold winter!

    • April 11, 2023 at 6:12 am

I know your roses will be spectacular when they bloom and Mother Nature cooperates! Loved seeing your bunny buffet and Easter brunch. :) ♥

Oh Mary, your potting bench display is absolutely beautiful with all the pretty blooms and sweet bunnies. It’s not long until my snowballs start blooming. We are just a few weeks behind you. Yesterday, I noticed green blooms starting to sprout. I was going to drop you a note today to tell you that your nest cookies were a hit on the Easter dessert table yesterday. Everyone loved them! Thanks so much for sharing the recipe. I hope you have a most wonderful week ahead!

This post reminds me of Mr. McGregor’s garden from Peter Rabbit! The bunnies ate up my roses last year. I was too busy fighting larger things then, but this year, I will fight the bunnies!

    • April 11, 2023 at 6:31 am

Those bunnies have voracious appetites! I was putting out more bunny guards yesterday as they devoured one of my salvias. Hope you’re enjoying some beautiful spring weather this week Ricki Jill. ♥

I see what you did there, you repurposed your potting bench into a Bunny Hutch (pun intended)! My poor snowball viburnum was planted in a too-small pot and is now root bound and not blooming. The only way to get it out is to destroy either the plant and salvage the pot, or destroy the pot and salvage the plant. Until we make a decision I will live vicariously through your photos and enjoy the outstanding blooms on your unbelievably large snowball viburnum.

Your bunny collection is admirable, thank you for sharing the inspiration!

    • April 11, 2023 at 6:46 am

Ha Ha Betsy! 🐇 I feel your pain over your viburnum. I have a hydrangea that’s potted with the same dilemma. Hope you’re starting to warm up and enjoying some spring weather. ♥

Your bunnies and blooms potting shelf could not be prettier! Thank you for sharing!
I have a snowball viburnum bush but it’s not nearly as full of blooms as yours. What’s your secret?
    Thanks for a beautiful post.

    • April 11, 2023 at 6:59 am

Thank you for your visit and comment Sue! Is your viburnum planted in full sun? The more sun, the more blooms it will have. I just googled and read too much nitrogen from your fertilizer or run off from your grass will cause it to put its energy into leaves rather than blooms. Also, pruning the wrong time as it blooms on old wood. Hope that helps! ♥

Wow, your spring flowers make for such a welcome to spring, such a nice variety and in good sequencing, too. Aren’t you happy your potting bench is already assemble for this year’s fun? It makes such a great place to play with dishes. I love all the bunnies. Lol, I was chatting with our neighbor on Easter morning and she said they’re cat left her a present at her doorstep that morning….the Easter bunny!😲🐇

Mary I have subscribed again and again and it goes to junk mail. I’ve never had the problem before but this last year has gone to junk mail. Help..!

Hi Debbie, There’s a setting in your email that you should be able to change. I know in my Gmail, I can mark an email ‘not spam’ to correct it. You should be able to find something in your email provider’s help settings. Thanks for your persistence. ♥

  25. April 11, 2023 at 2:56 pm

Mary, I don’t have a snowball viburnum in my garden, but I definitely need one. Going to get on that asap! We have the first clear, sunny day that we’ve had in weeks. It sure brightens my mood! Your bunnies with flowers and the green cabbage ware dishes speak my language. I have the same bunny vases and cabbage plates, so I’ve added your image to my Piintest files for future inspiration. It’s such a fresh spring look!
    Happy planting and happy spring!
