Happy March!

It’s one of my favorite days of the month when I join my

Monday Morning Blooms’ friends to share some flower therapy.

We’re excited to welcome back

Shannon at Belle Bleu Interiors,

joining us as a guest ‘bloomer’ today.

You can find my flower friends’ links to their beautiful floral and table inspiration at the bottom of this post.

Our common theme for this month’s edition of Monday Morning Blooms was ‘blooming bulbs’.

To create an easy blooming centerpiece I started with a galvanized garden container / planter.

You can use any kind of wooden box, crate or basket to build your centerpiece.

I love using potted bulbs from the garden center or supermarket in the spring!

They’re an affordable alternative to cut flowers,

as your bulbs can be planted in your garden after the flowers fade to enjoy next spring.

To create my spring centerpiece, I started with 4 pots of fragrant hyacinths and 2 bunches of tulips.

🐇 To build your blooming centerpiece, water your potted bulbs thoroughly and remove them from their plastic pots so you have more room to work in your container.

🐇 Line your container with plastic if needed to protect it or if it’s not watertight.

🐇 You can plant directly in your container or to keep things tidy and for less clean up, place the bulbs with their soil in plastic bags. I used plastic grocery bags.

🐇 Arrange the bulbs in your container so they appear as if they’re growing together.

🐇 Next, I tucked in mason jars and filled them with water, and added tulips from the grocery store.

🐇 Last, fill in around your blooms and cover the top of your bulbs with moss to finish your centerpiece.

Green Preserved Spanish Moss

I used Green Preserved Spanish Moss to top my flowers in my container.

Alternatively, use decorative paper shred or Easter basket ‘grass’ for a festive alternative, HERE

Here is my finished centerpiece. . .

if you don’t stop to take photos, you can assemble it in less than 10 minutes!

I tucked in two small bunnies in the moss among the flowers, because that’s how my garden grows. . .

Here is how the container looked three days later with the hyacinths and tulips opening up.

Here’s a fun fact about tulips that you may or may not know:

Cut tulips continue to grow in the vase and will gain 2 – 3 inches in height!

This easy method allows you to easily remove your tulips and give them a trim as needed so

they don’t topple over as tulips are both geotropic (bend with gravity) and phototropic (reach toward light).

Daffodils, the harbingers of spring, are blooming . . .

I cut a few daffodils to add to Mr. Bunny’s basket that originally came with some not-too-cute carrots I removed.

Good morning, Mary! Yes, I’m ready to hop into spring, and this makes a perfect introduction! The mix of spring blooms is gorgeous, and getting a tabletop too? Well, it makes this girl’s heart happy! I love how you took the flowers out of the pots and into baggies to make them all closer together, and then keeping the daffs and tulips separate in bottles and jars. I like buying potted bulbs for replanting also. I have daffs coming up, but barely showing their bulbs – maybe this week. 🤞It’s a good thing bunnies are so cute, right? They really can be destroyers, as you well know. Love that graphic tablecloth, super cute.
    Happy MMB!

Mary, your blooming bulbs planted in the galvanized garden container are beautiful. I love the idea of a mini garden. Hyacinths offer so much with their colors and heady fragrance. Moss bunnies add whimsy and charm, and they don’t over populate 😉 The bunny carrying the daffs is too cute! I love the table setting with the bunny and cabbage leaf plates resting atop the black and white check dinner plates. I don’t remember seeing the bunny tablecloth, it is charming with rabbits hopping all around!

Thank you for the flower therapy. It is always a pleasure to join you for Monday Morning Blooms!

Everything looks great together. The tablecloth is darling. I love daffodils, they are so cheerful and the first signs of spring around my house.

What an adorable blooming centerpiece, Mary! I think I’ll try this with a basket or some other container. You always inspire me to try something new. Your bunny tablecloth is darling and so much better than in the garden munching on something. 💚

I love everything about this arrangement, Mary! I am so.o.o ready for Spring but we’ve got a long way to go in Michigan. 🙁 However, grocery store flowers will fill in till then! I was wondering if you ever thought about letting your readers know when you find something at Homegoods when you see it? There are so many things from your trips there that I would have loved to bought if I knew when to check our store. Of course, the stores may not carry the same merchandise everywhere but you never know. Just a thought. 😉🫶🏼

Mary, your arrangement in the wonderful galvanized container is such a great spring centerpiece idea! You always provide great instructions on how you assembled your display. I’m always so impressed with what you do and how you do it. Thanks for always being an inspiration!!

I laughed outloud at the bunny in your cage to protect the flowers….LOL. last year critters emaciated our gardens my tulips…seriously everything. We are purchasing or making tall boxes for along the garage…as 18″ wasn’t high enough, more like serving platter, and those large pots have been there for like 25 years and never had them eaten bare before. Gorgeous florals, I always love your tips and expertise. Happy Spring which we won’t se here for 6-8 weeks in Chicagoland.

Good morning, Mary! Your blooming arrangement brimming with spring bulbs is gorgeous! It just makes me happy! I am so excited for spring’s arrival. The moss bunnies are just precious! Your tablecloth with the bunnies and blooms is so pretty. The green majolica with the checked plates and sweet floral napkins makes such a lovely setting. Thanks so much for inviting me to join you. Happy March, sweet friend!

So inspiring, Mary, as always. I have a few Easter things, but I am sick to death of them! At this point, I have no clue how I’m going to set an Easter table, but I do love the idea of a galvanized planter and fresh spring flowers.

Mary, your blooming bulbs are sure signs of spring, and I’m here for that. I have a few hyacinths and grape hyacinths blooming in my garden, but wish I had banks of them. I bought potted bulbs as you did and have them in containers on the terrace and about the sunroom. Instant gratification! I love seeing your clever way of mixing them in the container with the bunnies, and also the fresh blooms in the moss bunny’s basket. I’m ready to pull out my bunnies. I love this time of year, the fresh colors, and the feeling of renewal. As always, thank you for the inspiration. I think I’ll go buy more potted bulbs tomorrow.

Beautiful table setting. I love the green rabbit plates. Poor little bunny that is in your protection cage has ticks on his ears. I feel so sad for it.

I love how your watering can napkin rings give nod to the napkin rings on the tablecloth. Love the different pops of color with the mostly black and white tablecloth. It really ties your centerpiece and plate stack together. Looks fabulous.
